Ive notice my front headlights have been getting worse for me to see at night. I don't see whats in front of me while driving at the last minute, anytime at night while driving I don't see turns, objects and other things till the last second. I haven't had a accident due to poor visibility. I feel GMC is liable for this problem,I feel the GMC Envoy was made a lemon and the whole SUV should of been recalled because us Envoy owners are stil having the same problem certain Envoy only had as GMC claims only Envoy with this VIN number or the year it was manufacturer in or state . All 2002 GMC Envoys xl 4x4 need to be reinvestigate again under the lemon law act.
When driving the vehicle all dash lights and gauges just stop working. They will come back on but this is a safety concern while driving on the highway. Also my headlights go on and off I have changed out the bulbs thinking that was the issue and no its not. On my way to work this morning at 530am they stopped and have not turned back on causing me to pull over and now missing work to figure out the problem. This has been an ongoing issue since the beginning of June and the problem seems it's getting worse. I can't drive 70 mph on a highway and have my headlights just stop working. I also smell gasoline inside my vehicle frequently.

Headlight low beams suddenly turned off while driving down the road at night. The first time it happened, they turned back on after a few seconds. The next year it happened, they stayed off until pulling over, turning off the car and restarting it. This problem has been reported by others on the internet, and seems to be restricted to the chevy trailblazer and GMC Envoy. The reported fix is to replace the low beam relay.
As I was driving down interstate at 70-75mph , the headlights, dash lights, all the lighting just shut off! I had no idea what to do. I was on one of the most dangerous interstates, known for fatal accidents. . . And I'm driving in the dark without lights! I quickly moved to side of road and shut it off in case of faulty wiring/fire hazard. After approx. A five minute phone call, I started car, lights worked. Started driving again, approx. 10 minutes down road, lights shut off again. I hope this problem is resolved soon! this is dangerous and can kill people!.

She took the vehicle into a local mechanic where he replaced the brakes and checked the wheels and stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. She is also experiencing problems with the front passenger seat belt it locks when fastened. She took the car to the dealer and they informed her that it was no longer covered under warranty and any repairs made would be at the owner's expense. The vehicle is also experiencing exterior light failure, both headlights burned out within weeks apart and they were replaced at owner's expense. The failure mileage was 38,000. The current mileage was 86,000 (SC) updated 06/25/08. The consumer also stated when driving past 70 mph, the vehicle would shake. The windshield wipers were replaced. The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy xl. The contact stated that he has been experiencing the same failures as noted in recall # 03v096000 (electrical system: wiring: interior/under dash). He has taken the vehicle to the dealer, but the failure still persists. The contact stated that the seat belts continue to lock and the windshield wipers are malfunctioning. 2002 GMC Envoy headlights intermittent fluctuates and/or stop working (low beams only) while driving car at night. Occurs at all headlight settings, at all times of the day/night, almost every time the headlights are used and does not resolve itself upon trying car on/off. Problem started after warranty expired, approximately 2005. Gnc dealership and independent auto mechanics unable to determine source problem due to intermittent of problem. Problem continued until 2010 when low beam headlights finally went out completely and no longer worked at all. Fix was headlight module. Headlight module possibly damaged by voltage fluctuations coming elsewhere in vehicle electrical system. Old part is not available. Part was replaced at stuart GMC in stuart, florida. The consequence is no headlights while driving at night so unable to drive car at night or worst, the danger of the headlights going out while driving (which happened all the time) and driving without headlights to get to your destination (without paying for a towtruck) can cause an accident or a citation. Another consequence is it decreases value of the vehicle and the fact that the vehicle cannot be honestly sold while this dangerous condition exists so I have been stuck with the car and cannot financially buy a new car without selling this car.
While driving 73 mph with cruise control on headlights will shut off. Consumer was able to restart the vehicle and corrected the problem. Dealership was notified.
The low beam head light on the driver side would go out intermittently while driving at night. The problem was caused by the plug melting and causing the builb to go out. Vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer informed consumer that the headlight unit needed to be replaced instead of the plug.
On our 2002 GMC Envoy, when driving in heavy fog or any type of falling snow the headlights shoot a beam of light straight up. It looks like what the searchlights look like in old war movies. The reflection from the light on he fog or snow really messes up the drivers vision because it effectivly blocks the sight of anything past the hood. We talked to the dealer about it and the service manager said that we weren't the first to compalin but until gm did a recall, he couldn't do anything about it.
