The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the rear passenger side door would not latch. The latches for both driver side doors were previously replaced. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 05v494000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch) for the Envoy xl. The failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 102,000. Updated 01/11/08. The front door latch are not starting to fail. The windshield wiper motor failed. 3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2006

: the contact stated on 10-14-04 both rear door latches were replaced because the doors were failing to lock. In 2-06 the contact received a recall letter concerning the latches/locks and linkages; NHTSA recall # 05v494000. On 3-13-06 the dealership replaced the weather stripping around the rear doors and inspected the vehicle for corrosion on the latches. The dealership determined there was no corrosion on the latches. On 4-8-06 while driving at 40 mph, as the contact was making a right turn, the passenger side rear door flew open, causing extensive damage to the front passenger door and to the rear passenger door. Both child safety locks were engaged at the time of the incident. The vehicle was towed to the dealership on 4-08-06.

Left rear door latch does not release 100% of the time, making it impossible to open door from outside.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2005

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy xl. I have to constantly replace head lamp bulbs as they continuously burn out. I also have a problem with the turn signal. If I have the heat on, the signal won't blink - just lights up. I am using today's date although this has been going on since late November. I also had the problem with the back doors and had to replace the latch on one of the doors in September and I can feel it going on the other door as well.

6 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2005

: the contact stated while driving 20 mph the driver side rear door flew open and would not close. The independent repair shop determined there was corrosion on the door latch from road salt build up. The door latch was replaced. The passenger side rear door required more force to open. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v494000, regarding the door latches. The vehicle had the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. Updated 3/3/2006 -.

7 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2005

Contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. When the car sits in the heat or sun the contact cannot open the rear passenger doors from the outside. Vehicle has been in the repair shop twice for this same problem. Vehicle was taken to dealership and the problem has not been corrected.

8 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2005

While making a right turn out of parking lot, the back let door opened, even though it was locked. I was unable to close the door.

9 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2004

While driving on rainy days doors leak water onto the inside of vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to dealer several times. However, dealer could not find cause of the problem.

10 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2004

In four different cases on my 2003 GMC Envoy the rear door latch mechanisms failed to work. In at least one case the left rear door failed to open from either the inside or the outside. The left rear door has stuck but never failed to open, although it is a fight to do so. The last time I returned the car they replaced the entire latch assembly on the right side, with the dealer telling me they have never had complaints. I found this to be untrue as conversations with many owners of the GMC Envoy and chev. Trailblazer have seen the same thing. My biggest concern is that in the case of an emergency if the rear doors don't work how do we get our children out of the car.

11 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2004

Faulty driver side seat belt that will not release to fasten. I have taken the car in and the repair person said that there was nothing wrong, and that it just was catching on something. Also, the passenger side door behind the drivers seat was very hard to open the repair person at the same dealership broke the handle trying to open the door. The repair shop did fix the handle for free, however the door remains still very hard to open and I would not use this particular door. After a while the door would not close and the door latch had to be replaced at my expense. The back window would not go all the way up and the actuator had to be replaced also. I am not sure what month the first incidence took place, but everything seemed to happen quickly afterwards.

12 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2003

The first time the wind noise became such an issue is when the car had only a few thousand miles on it and I was driving on an interstate with a stiff cross wind. The noise was so loud that when I tried to use the onstar to call the dealer and have him listen to the noise, the onstar kept saying slower please, slower please even though I wasnt yet speaking. It was the wind the onstar was listening to. I have visited the dealer in moorehead several times and the GMC place in minot to try to stop the noise and the have reduced the wind noise but I still get an unacceptable level of noise. I have to take a vacation day to take the vehicle into the dealer 90 miles away and then even tho I know they are trying, they just seem to move the noise around. A car that windows for almost 40k should be at least as quiet as my daughter 6 year old neon. Wouldn't you say? I believe that this vehicle will never be quiet unless you are traveling less than 30 mph down the road and with the wind. I have visited the dealer ship at least 4 times for this specific problem and they have replaced windo seals and liners as well as bending the doors but I am not satisfied. They say I am an isolated complaint but in the small town I live in there is only one other 2003 Envoy and the owner says her noise is even worse. After 2 1/2 years and 18000 miles how much more should I have to endure?.
