38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 02/23/2013

I had trouble with the gauge that shows overheating. I took the car in to put in a thermostat thinking it was the problem, but when I took it in they said that my cluster was bad and the gauges were messed up. I paid $392. 00 for the cluster and $100. 00 for labor. I bought this vehicle used with 119,000 miles on it on 6/20/2011 and on 2/23/2013 I had the cluster replaced with mileage of 132,356. I put on new brakes at this time since the had a habit of grabbing and making me slide and jerk to a stop. The only problem I have now is the the door locks mess up once in awhile but other than that I take my Envoy in every 4000 miles for an oil change and a check up it is now 12/15/2015 and I only have 142,000 miles on it and it is still running ok. I keep checking once a month for recalls on my vehicle sometimes a dome light will come on . But not often. My Envoy has not rust and the interior is in as good as it was when I purchased it from the previous owner which is in excellent condition.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/24/2012

Driving around a corner, wheels locked up, service stabilitrack light went on, steering wheel unresponsive to turning. Went to a shopping center and was unable to get out of parking space as wheels locked up and vehicle wouldn't turn. This should be a recall. The service stabilitrack light on dash can go on at anytime while driving. This can be dangerous when trying to turn on a busy street and nothing happens. It feels like the car is not responsive to the steering wheel, brakes and wheels.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

My husband and I purchased a 2007 GMC Envoy slt since about a week after we got it the rear wiper comes on by itself, the only way to turn it off is to turn it on all the way and turn it off. While driving especially at night the headlights just go off which is very scary especially on dark roads. Service stabilatrak comes on while driving, tire pressure monitor comes on when there is nothing wrong with my tires.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 01/15/2012

In January, 2012, after a day of making several stops (church, visit family, movie), we stopped for a late night dinner). The restaurant was closing, so we returned to the vehicle in less than 5 minutes. When we returned to the vehicle, the car would not start. After several unsuccessful attempts, we had to have the truck towed. Since it was late night, we had to have the vehicle toweed to the home and then to a repair shop. After being in the repair shop for several days and after several diagnstic tests,, we were told the ignition switch was replaced. Since this 1st incident in 2012, this has occurred at least 10 times. After one incident in 2013, we bought a new battery. After 2 weeks, the new battery was dead and we received a new battery. However, the veicle not starting occurred at least another 3 times. After replacing the battery twice, we heard there was an ignition switch recall for GMC vehicles. When I contacted gm, they told me the recall was for other makes and models, but not on the Envoy. My concern is we don't know when the car will start or not. We have also had the starter checked several times & was told it's not the starter. It appears no one is able to determine why the vehicle does not start and when it will happen. I am concerned for my safety - when it's going to happen, where will I be. , if I am close to home or not and will we have to incur another towing charge.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

While driving around town, I hear a noise, that sounded like a flat. The truck began to slow down on its own, without me applying the breakes. I managed to get the truck over to the side of the road. The service stabltrk light wa on, the brakes locked up. I had it towed to the dealer who did 1400 dollars of work on it , but stated the could not get it to duplicate my complaint. 7 days later it repeated the same thing, I had it towed to the dealer. This time they told me that I had contaminated brake fluid. I was upset, and felt I was bing jerked around. I had it towed home. Had another machanic test the brake fluid, needless to say, it showed to have the normal amount of contamination from routine driving. He also could not get it to repeat the problem, I am assuming no codes came up this time either. I have drivien it for one month with out a problem, untill this morning, I went to the store, about 1/2 mile from my home, and the same problem occured. After leaving the engine off for appro. 30 min, it became drivable again.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/15/2011

Reduced power light came on when on the highway. Almost got hit by a semi. This has happened many times. The engine has only 8k miles since engine was replaced under warranty.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

I bought a use 2006 GMC Envoy denali with 69,000 mile in June 2010, by July I was replacing the air shocks on the right side of the vechicle. On about 7/28/2011 on the beltway where the speed limit is 65 I was in the far left lane approaching a left hand exit when my car staled, I had run out of gas with no indication. I wait over a hour for someone to come put gas in my truck at about 100 degree tempature. I later ran out of gas on a back road coming to my house at night. Again no indicator light came on to let me know I was low on gas. Not the gas gauge floats between fuel and empty contionusly. This was a very dangeous and scary situation both times. I flasher were on the whole time and I had to change the battery. Now the air will not come out of the vents only the floor and defrost. But the most important thing is the gas gauge, I could have me involved in an accident both time.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/29/2011

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. While driving approximately 60 mph, the electronic stability control and traction control warning indicators began to illuminate. Immediately there was a substantial reduction in the speed rate. The failure occurred repeatedly whenever the vehicle was in operation. On two separate occasions the engine stalled without prior warning and restarted after waiting a few moments. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer seven different times. The ecm was reprogrammed and there were no additional repairs performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the constant malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

When turning corners on smooth asphalt the stabilitrac light comes on and engages the system which causes the vehicle to momentarily slow down and makes a "growl" sound, this also effects the steering. It may do this multiple times per turn or only once. It has occurred at varying speeds (turns at 45mph and turns at 10mph). Started out only occurring during left hand turns, now happens on almost all turns. I have noticed it is much worse on windy days. The stabilitrac also kicks in when I turn onto gravel and start to speed up (not mashing the gas and spinning tires, but simply speeding up at a regular pace that should not pose problems).

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/22/2009

I having problems with my stabilitrak system the engine lights comes on and I just had the thermostat sensors change which took them three time to find the problem and my drivers window sensors was replaced and there a sudden thumb when you brake as thought you have been hit from behind.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

GMC has known that they have intermittent stabilitrak system since oct 1-2008. Don't know if it actually shuts off abs brakes or just sets indicator lights off. Comes on more frequently in cold months. TSB #08-05-25-005 why should consumer pay for either defective steering yoke yaw sensor, reprogramming or new $400 ebcm or $250 dealer service charge each time it comes up. In winter, another article said it was bad connectors. That would be a mfg defect as well. Always comes up in sharp slow speed turns. Already paid for two front hubs as they said it was the speed sensor, problem was not resolved. Braking or known stabiltrak problem over several years should warrant a recall not TSB where the cost is absorbed by the vehicle owner. ,.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Stabilitrac and/or abs system engages when not necessary such as driving on dry, straight pavement at highway speeds. Causes vehicle to decelerate suddenly and almost lose control when brakes activate and motor retards. Electrical system also fluxuates (altimeter bounces from low to hi) causing a loss of power with associated loss of steering, lights, braking controls, at any speed. Problem has been increasing (frequency & severity) from July, 2009 to present (Jan, 2010). Dealer shop did stabilitrac TSB firmware upgrade (and charged me) w/o correcting problem, also retested and "could not find anything wrong":battery is new but problem persists. 55,000 miles, mostly highway/improved roads. This occurs every time, literally, the vehicle is moved: 30-40 miles/day. 1/6/10 engine developed "low growl" noise and rpm dropped from ~800rpm to ~600rpm at parked idle w/o any apparent cause. Now idle at start is normal, but within 1-2 minutes drops and remains low with growl noise.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

Service stabilitrak light and service abs lights are on. Horn no longer works.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/30/2008

Our SUV has been in the shop so many times for stability trac control electrical window switch ,two steering columns out side temp reading, new shock, new converters.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/09/2007

I bought a 2007 Envoy 10 March 2007. When the weather got warm I tried to use my ac. This is a brand new vehicle with less than 5,000 miles and the ac didn't work. I took it in for service and was told it was fixed. When we went on a trip and arrived in FL and it heated up, the ac didn't work. The first time it was repaired I was told it was a sensor. The next two times they replaced the compressor. The first time it was cool when we left and I tried the ac and it was cold. I had to take it in 3 times before it worked correctly. Now it is getting hot again and I think I am going to have the same problem. It is only 70 and my 1997 chevy cavalier cools better than my 2007 Envoy. I have had several other problems with this vehicle that have only recently been resolved. Each time I took it in I was told they could not duplicate the problem. I had a leak in the rear compartment, the drivers seat would not adjust sometimes and the stabilitrak constantly gave me a service light. This vehicle is only 1 year old.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 04/03/2006

1. Started with horn honking on its own, radio turning on and off and heating and cooling turning on and off and battery being drained. Dealer replaced 2 batteries. 2. Stabilitrak warning light would intermittently come on and say it needed serviced. 3. Gas gauge started malfunctioning after a fill up. Needle would fluctuate and eventually remain on e. Was told by dealer it was either the fuel level sensor or instrument panel. 4. Vehicle started to jerk forward when sitting at stop light. Jerks are strong enough that you feel like you were rear ended. Then started noticing the jerks while driving at highway speed. 5. Oil gauge began fluctuating from high to low. Was again told it was a bad instrument panel . 6. Rear air suspension began deflating when vehicle would sit for long periods of time. Low enough that tires almost touch top of wheel well. Compressor would come on and rear end would come back up to normal. Now it deflates over short periods of time and takes a considerably longer amount of time to reinflate. I am now noticing that it is deflating some while driving. If you hit a bump you can feel the tire hit the top of wheel well. Dealer could not explain the jerking. Was told there was probably an electrical problem causing things to come on and off. Fuel gauge is being replaced free as a defective part. Was told rear suspension was most likely a dead compressor and tires could possibly rub or blow out if suspension deflates while driving.
