1 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/15/2007

Events that have lead up to the failure I believe is poor engineering of the product. I have a 2004 Envoy xl that has the drivers' side power sear and lumbar compressor switch set on the side of the seat. The switches are surrounded by a than large piece of hard plastic. The way it is arranged on the seat no matter how a person get out of the vehicle; pressure is pushed down onto the plastic seat switch cover. I have replaced this product twice now within the past year and a half. The first time it cost me from 65 to 85 dollars to replace a . 50 cent piece of plastic. I was told it had a twelve month warranty. Within 3 to 6 months the same thing happened; my wife got out of the vehicle and the seat control switch plate fell to the ground. When I took it back to the dealer for the second time, the service manager asked the problem and when I told him about the switch control cover falling off again; the person stated, " I bet you are driving an Envoy aren't you?" he then said those were a bad design for that model and pop off all the time. Well after replacing the product under the warranty that covered the first one I replaced (bought), I asked does the 12 month warranty start over for the new product? he said no, and if it comes off again, and it will; you will have to buy the next cover plate again. That is wrong!!! if it is generally know throughout the gm service departments a problem exists why does the customer have to continue to pay??? OH by the way, the plastic seat control cover did pop off again for the third time about 1 month ago, so I have engineered it with zip ties that are bright enough when the door is open for people to see what type of product gm actually builds.

2 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2000 GMC Envoy

Passenger side seat does not move back. Stuck in the position up by the dash. Could cause major problems if someone was sitting in this seat and an accident were to occur.

3 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

I purchased a 2005 GMC Envoy in September 2005. In the past year (since January 2007, at least), I have experienced several problems with my vehicle. The first problem is with the headlights. Everytime I have driven the vehicle the headlights appear to dim/flicker and then return to normal. This has resulted in oncoming vehicles turning their bright lights on me thinking my brights are on when in reality my headlights are dimming and then returning to normal. The second problem concerns the passenger side airbag. Anytime a certain weight limit is met or exceeded the airbag sensor is supposed to switch to on, but there have been several occasions when someone was sitting in the passenger seat and the airbag sensor hasn't recognized it. Third problem, driver side power seat failure. There have been several instances when I have tried to move the driver seat forward, but nothing happened. The motor sounded like it was grinding and wanted to move, but the seat would not move forward or backward. The most extreme problem to date has been with the vehicle completely shutting off without warning while in the middle of driving and then not starting or even turning over at all. Every single day for, at least, the last month when I go to start the vehicle it fails to start and it takes a minimum of 1 hour to get it started. One instance in particular when the vehicle shut off without warning was while my wife and I were on the freeway. Without warning the vehicle shut down and we were forced to pull onto the shoulder. We sat there for almost an hour in temperatures of 13 degrees trying to get the vehicle restarted. There have been countless complaints and reports of other Envoy owners experiencing these same problems. Some dealers have actually said that these failures/problems are normal!!!! what!?!?! are you freaking kidding me?! since when is it considered "normal" when so many Envoys are displaying these same problems?.

4 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/18/2006

: the contact stated while driving at any given speed on normal road conditions, the contact's power seat moved by itself. Because it happened unexpectedly, it created unsafe driving conditions. The seat can be manually reset however resetting the seat would not prevent the malfunctioning from recurring. When the incidents first occurred, the vehicle was under warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on 5/12/06 and has been there for 37 days so far with no repairs.

5 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 03/03/2005

The only problem is with the memory seats and mirrors. On prior year Envoys, when you pressed the unlock button on the remote, the seats and mirrors would recall to that drivers position. Now you have to push the 1 or 2 button on the door, while in park, to recall the seat and mirror positions. There is no tie with the remote and the memory seats. I don't know why gm would do away with this feature, but it is very inconvenient and in my opinion - a big step backwards.

6 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 02/23/2002

Passenger's side power seat is tilted in a downward position. Cannot tilt upward due to electrical malfunction. Motor can be heard, but nothing is happening.
