When owner switches the windshield wipers on they fail to engage, not operating at all. This causes the driver not to have visibility. Owner states the problem straightens after the weather is dry. Owner contacted GMC, and was told that GMC has taken the recall out of the parameter, establishing a time limit. Specific recall not found. . . . . . Consumer enclosed recall of faulty windshield wipers issued on 05/02/2003.

Windshield wipers operate intermittently during inclement weather. Dealership examined vehicle and determined solder joints near wiring harness connector is cracked. The vehicle is not included in recall campaign 98v150001 due to VIN. Please provide any additional information / documentation.

Windshield wiper motor failure. Mr the windshield wiper motor failed prior to the expiration of the warranty. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and declined to replace the module. The complete failure of the wiper motor occurred during a severe rainstorm. The turn signal module/switch failed, and the driver side seat belt did not retract. Dealer was unable to duplicate the seat belt problem. Scc.

Consumer's complained regarding random operation of windshield wipers. This vehicle was not part of NHTSA recall 98v150001, although, it was showing a similar problem. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Intermittenlty windshield wipers become inoperable, obstructing view of the driver. A recall has been issued on the vehicle's make and model; however this vehicle not included due to VIN.

Windshield wipers intermittently become inoperable in rainy weather conditions due to a malfunction with the solder joints vehicle not included in recall 98v150000. The curcuit board containing the wipers malfunctiones due to the solder joints shuting down the wipers without warrning. After that sometimes they worked sometimes they did not.

Was driving in the rain with windshield wipers on. Suddenly without warning, windshield wipers stopped working. This caused driver's visibility to be poor. Stopped vehicle & got out & jiggled wires & wipers. They failed to start again. Also, hit wiper motor before windshield wipers restarted.

Windshield wipers stop working and only hum. If I shake wiring harness at motor it will start working again. GMC says there is a recall for 1996 GMC Jimmy for wiper problems like mine, but my auto was not included in recall. It is strange to me that my problems is identical to the others, but not one to recall. Is it possible they have made a mistake. Is my family safety not important as the other 1996 GMC Jimmy owners.

Windshield wipers stopped during a rain storm, this has happened 5 times previously. This problem was a recall on the 1995 blazers and Jimmys, but not on the 1996 models even though it is the same part used on both years, according to a parts person at a GMC dealer ship. Fortunately no one in our family was injured. I am having the problem fixed at my expense, due to the fact that GMC will not pay for the defect. I feel I should be reimbursed for this for this dangerous defect, and this problem should be corrected, by recall, before serious injuries occur. Sincerly, ronald l keller.

Motor for the rear winshield wipers has failed, causing poor visibility, also, oxygen sensor has failed , TSB has been issued.

While driving wndshield wipers quit working in the middle of operation. After a few minutes windshield wipers come back on, and sometimes they do not. Dealer has been contacted about problem. Truck was not included in recall # 98v150001, and could not be serviced free of charge. Problem has not been corrected.

While driving with windshield wipers working windshield wipers would fail without warning or notice. This is an intermitten wiper problem. So far has happened 3 times. The wiper failure problem would cause poor visibility for the driver. Last time it happened was in a snow storm on 12/26/99. Been in contact with dealer & wiper circuit board was cracked. Windshield wipers will intermittently work. Contacted dealer, and dealer noted that vehicle was not included in recall 98v150001. Dealer refused to assist in replacement. Gm refused to pay for replacement component. Wiper fails after engine is warmed up.

Windshield wipers work intermittently. There has been a recall issued for same make/model and year; but, this vehicle was not a part of recall due to VIN.

While drving vehicle about 50 mph windshield wipers stopped working without a reason. Happened three times. Also engine went out while driving vehicle about 45 mph.

Windshield wiper motor failed prior to recall, consumer replaced unit, however denied reimbursement becaused dealer did not previously replace defective unit.

Rear windshield wiper motor failed, recall denied due to unit being in rear not front. (98v-150) mjs.

Whenever driving in rainy or snowy weather & have the windshield wipers on, they periodically stop for no reason. Had called the dealer & the mechanic said that repair could not be done at this time.

Windshield wipers: when driving wipers will cut off, have to turn switch off and turn back on to get them to start. This is an intermittent problem. Causes very poor visibility, especially in hard rain. Took to dealer with no results. Module and pulse wiper control was replaced.

When traveling in rain and turning windshield wipers on wipers would work inttermittently. Please provide further information.

Windshield wipers work sometimes but more then often do not work. I called GMC as there was a recall but they tell me my VIN number was not part of the recall. The recall was a month before I bought the truck. Why do I have the same problem but I'm not part of the recall? on the brakes- it was recalled for the antilock on a volunteer basis. I took it in for the computer adjustment as per the recall fix, they said it was done and a week later, on the same road it first happened to me, a light changed, I hit the brakes (not hard) and antilock kicked in and the pedal went to the floor and I almost crashed as my heart went into my stomach. Long before the recall, I had my truck into GMC many times for brake problems and even wrote letters that describe the recall long before I know there was one! gm says my truck brakes are fixed but they're not. The wipers they won't cover. Other then these problems and that the engine idles rough and is rough at low speeds, I really like my Jimmy!!.

Ther is an electrical problem in the circut board that effects the windshield wipers. Dealer is not responding to consumer to have her vehicle fixed.

Consumer received recal 98v043 for the windshield wiper motor failure. Recall repairs were done. However, the problem continues. Windshield wipers do not operate properly. Dealer has been contacted.
