Passenger side power window goes part way down, will not go out - intermittent problem increased to permanent problem. Now goes down maybe 1/2 inch, only goes up 1/32 inch at a time. Has been repaired twice, needs repair again. I purchased the vehicle used in 6/03, not long after that, problem surfaced in increasing regularity. When I had problem repaired by dealer in 1/04, I was told this had been repaired before. Items repaired / replaced, were:
1314wsc95 - electrical misc. Po45391 - motor
po45386 - actuator
several rivets. The repair facility described the window problem as "binding", and a also found that the door lock was not activating properly due to a door lock mechanism problem (the actuator) as having an "internal short". The repair of 1/04 was good for about 14 months (dealer refused to warrant work), when in 3/05, the problem had gradually returned. When I asked the dealer if this was a common problem, he said it was not. I recently decided to look into the problem as I am about to have it repaired again, and see that the passenger windows on GMC vans have been a problem for a long time. I believe the malfunctioning window is a hazard, as it creates a dangerous situation for the driver when distracted by a malfunctioning window, which is used to protect the vehicles occupants from weather, smoke, dust and dirt, wind and even potential criminals. My attention has been drawn away from the normal hazards of urban and highway driving by the distraction of a malfunctioning window. Why has this been allowed to be a prolific problem for so long? I wonder just how many complaints you have received on this issue? does someone have to actually die before you take action?.

Power windows do not work. Consumer checked the fuses, and the fuses are not the problem. Consumer took the vehicle to an after market repair shop where the defect was noticed. No recall found on this issue.

The power windows failed. As a result, when the windows were up they were unable to come back down.
Vehicle is experiencing a lot of electrical problems. The driver's side window will not go up and down, and it makes a horrible noise. Door locks lock and unlock inadvertently. Windshield wipers only work when it is not raining. The heat and air conditioner blower only operate through the defroster. Also, unless consumer keeps foot on the accelerator the battery almost dies.

Intermittently rear windshield wipers become inoperable, obstructing driver's view. The accelerator cable was replaced twice. The alternator was replaced three times. The water pump was replaced twice. The driver's side power window motor was replaced and the passenger side needs to be replaced. The driver's side seat motor failed. The hatch failed. The rear captain chairs seat belts broke.
Vehicle has experienced severe electrical problems. While driving power locks intermittently popped up and down on their own. Right side windows will go down, but will not come back up with out physically pulling them up by hand. Dome light popped on intermittently, and the vehicle had to be jump started at least six times since eleven months of ownership.

Brakes faulty. Brand new pads installed last week all around adjusted and dealer claims all is well but problem still exists. It takes an extreme amount of force applied to the pedal to stop this vehicle, noticed at 35k. Dangerous and not easy to get used to. In addition, windshield leaks on the top drivers side and the rear right door handle is failing on back dutch doors now at 65k. Also, both power door actuators on the drivers side and the passenger side failed completely at 34k.
Windshield wipers do not operate - recalled - dealer claims it was repaired, now wipers operate whenever it feels like it. Both torsion rods failed without warning within 1 day apart of each other. Mechanic revealed that gm now has a special technique to be done when this happens and it costs an extra $90 to repair. Which means they are aware of the problem and will not recall the vehicles and replace at their cost. Broken spark plug almost killed my family. Fuel pump went out. Driver's side window does not roll down, driver's side view mirror does not operate.
Safari engine unpedictably stopped whne covering short distance. Engine shut off while driving. On three separate occasion, when the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, they were unable to duplicate the condition of a dying engine. On another occasion, the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle. The passenger window would go up, but would not roll down. The fuel gauge did not read correctly.

The power window on the driver's side does not work. I was told by a GMC mechanic that the motor is broke and would have to be replaced. The cost would be $120. 00 for the motor and $180. 00 for labor (a shaky way for GMC to make a profit). The vehicle is only 3 years old. I've heard of other GMC Safari's with this same problem (recall?). Thanks for your help. I look forward to your reply.

This problem rless than 30 days after purchasing the van, it was supposed to have been fixed at the original dealership 12k ago, but this problem has reocurred. In addition, have had a power window motor go out, blower fan burn up, transmission fluid leaks after being serviced by dealership and lastly a fuel gauge that refuses to work.
Intake manifold gasket - needed replaced with less than 70k miles on van. Heater fan dashboard switch - when set on floor heat only, it blows out both at the defroster and the floor. Windshield wiper motor - after it stopped working, we grounded the motor and it started working again - now it works intermittently, but not when you usually need it most. Driver's side window motor - failed and required replacement. Air conditioning tube - became brittle and broke - repaired it and the a/c works correctly again.
Intermittently when applying brake pedal it would pulsate. When this occurs, driver has to apply brake pedal harder to get vehicle to stop;. Vehicle been in dealer shop on five or more times, and unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle shifts hard and the brake pedal feels spongy. The driver side seat riser not operable. The brakes vibrate. The left window was inoperable. The vehicle had coolant leak.
