Front Air Bag problems of the 1996 GMC Sierra

Four problems related to front air bag have been reported for the 1996 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2004

Driving along hwy 71 east, fell asleep at the wheel and ran into the back of the vehicle in front of me. There was considerable damage to both vehicles. The air bag system in my steering wheel did not deploy. Only because I was asleep did I avoid serious injury and also I was wearing my seatbelt. The problem has not been corrected at this time. *k.

2 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2003

The vehicle was in frontal collision and none of the air bags deployed upon impact. The vehicle was totaled.

3 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/02/1997

Consumer was driving on road when 76 Ford f100 pickup ran a stop sign, ran into consumer's front end broadsiding f100 pickup truck, during nor after impact did consumer airbag deploy.

4 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/29/1996

Brakes failed, causing accident, also airbag failed in accident.
