Headlights problems of the 1996 GMC Sierra

Six problems related to headlights have been reported for the 1996 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2001

Daytime running lights failed to function during daylight hours. Consumer has examined elements for headlights and found no defect while dealership has not examined vehicle.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/06/1999

While driving in the dark on the road headlights will cut off, leaving consumer without lights. Also, when on high beam they will turn off.

3 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/19/1998

Both high and low beam headlights failed to work while driving vehicle at night. Dealer found wiring burned up on dimmer switch in steering column. No fire occurred. Dealer charge to replace defective switch was $502. 65. This is a safety problem when headlights fail while driving vehicle at night. Incident could have caused an accident or fire. Why didn't fuse or circuit breaker protect wiring? please contact us if you would like to examine the failed dimmer switch assembly. We have the failed switch which the dealer here in frankenmuth, michigan replaced.

4 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/02/1996

Left head lamp is inoperative.

5 Headlights problem

Head lights failed.

6 Headlights problem
