1999 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd VIN#1gtek19t1xz539915 activation of antilock brake system when coming to a stop this causes my vehicle not to stop when it should allowing longer stopping distance.
1999 GMC Sierra experiencing problems with the brake equipment malfunctioning. While pulling into parking lot, applied brakes and the brakes pushed back. Vehicle would not stop and hit a concrete wall, damaging the front end of the truck.
Antilock brakes stoping distance at low speed started doing this several weeks ago and is now at the point that I can't drive. Vehicle is going in for repair 5/4/05.
I have a 1999 GMC Sierra (new body style) and have complained about the brakes since I bought it in 2002. What it is doing is the antilock brakes will go off anytime I apply the brake at slow speeds and hit a minor bump in the road making the antilock brake trip and lunges forward like I lost my brakes. I was involved in an accident last year were I rear ended a Mini van in part I think it was lack of brakes due to the antilock brakes not functioning correctly. Two years ago during a small snow I was pulling into park at work and the antilock was tripped and forced me into a dumpster. The brakes are like a sponge it almost scares me at times. Thanks for being aware of the problems that gm is having with the brakes. I seen the report on the news so I thought I would tell my story, rick.
Brake failure. After slowing or stopping at an intersection or pulling into a parking spot, and after releasing the brakes, at reapplication the brake does not respond. The pedal does not respond, no depression takes place -- it feels like a rock! -- and the truck does not stop. After repeated attempts, the brake will eventually respond, in the meantime it is a hazardous situation.
Has occuring ehaust leak, service wont fix. Using brakes while slowing and hitting bump in road, brakes will pulseate very hard and vechile will not stop.
Abs brake failure is occurring approximatley 7 - 10 times per week under moderate braking.
