Tire Sidewall problems of the 1999 GMC Sierra

Three problems related to tire sidewall have been reported for the 1999 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2003

Sidewall of firestone wilderness at tire blew out while driving at low speed.

2 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2000

Truck was making bearing/tire noise. Dealer could not look at it for a week so had costco do a safety check. They found that the front tire belts had seperated. I replaced all 4 on the ground tires with michelins. The noise is gone. This truck is used to tow a comping trailer and usuall has max sidewall air pressure (44#) in the tire. ( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 ).

3 Tire Sidewall problem

Pe00-020; tire size p2657516, dot w273wma408, original equipment, a big crack developed in the sidewall where the sidewall meets the tread, to the point where consumer can stick finger in it, and tread is beginning to separate. Firestonw wilderness at tires.
