Two problems related to power steering pump have been reported for the 2002 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact lost control of the power steering and brakes at the same time without warning. This occurred while driving at 10 mph in snowy conditions. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, where it was determined the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The replacement of the power steering pump solved the problem. While my 17 year old son was driving, the truck suddenly lost all power steering and brake capability. My son was traveling with his younger brother and a friend in the vehicle.
