Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problems of the 2003 GMC Sierra

There have been no injuries due to the front hub bearing being worn but when we make a turn we always felt a knocking in the steering wheel which made us think of something being loose. We had a mechanic look at it just by shaking the wheel you could tell something was worn. We are trying to find out if there is or going to be a recall on it because the truck is a 2003 Sierra and all mechanics we've spoke to do not believe the bearing she be worn already. This has left us without a vehicle until it gets resolved. Thank you for your time.
