The contact owns a 2011 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while replacing a flat tire, he noticed that the jack did not extend high enough to lift the vehicle and replace the tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The jack was not replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

2 Mechanical Jack problem of the 1998 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 07/22/2005

Contact stated the jack failed during use on 7-22-2005. Contact had no problems with jack prior to today. Dealer said they appreciated him called them. As he began to apply pressure the threads stripped. He has not talked to the manufacturer.

3 Mechanical Jack problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 12/19/2004

The consumer found the direction in the owners manual on how to change the tire vague . While changing a flat tire using the jack which came as standard equipment on the vehicle, the jack slipped off the bracket and fell sideways. The consumer and his brother was injured in the process. The consumer believed the jack needed to be replaced with a larger based hydraulic jack.

4 Mechanical Jack problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 04/22/2001

Jack that comes with vehicle has a head that is about one inch in diameter. Consumer believes that jack cannot properly lift vehicle. The consumer states that it was difficult to safely use and remove this jack.

5 Mechanical Jack problem of the 1999 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 02/25/2001

I have a 1999 GMC serria and I had a flat for the first time I read all the instructions fillowed the safty like blocking tire / ect and that no good jack slipped off the axile and the truck fell on the ground , good thing I feep the kids away fron the truck , because I tought to my self that that jack was no good.

6 Mechanical Jack problem of the 1996 GMC Sierra

The scissor jack provided with the diesel truck will not raise the wheel all the way. The metal will twist and break and the jack will fail. Nlm.
