GMC Sierra owners have reported 5 problems related to turn signal switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated the headlights turned off momentarily when the steering wheel was tilted. The headlights came on by themselves without prior indication. The contact detected the odor of something burning. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop, which discovered the multi function turn signal switch shorted out. Although there was no fire the connecting wires and terminals were black and melted. The turn signal switch was replaced.

I own a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup with 6,700 miles. I am experienceing a imtermintent problem with the turn signal/hazard lights. When I activate the left turn signal the hazard lights begin to flash. I have taken the truck to the dealership for repairs, after waiting two months for the problem to occur at a time I was near the dealer. They replaced the multi function switch and two days later the problem is still there. I continue to work with GMC directly and the dealership to seek resolution but am being told that unless they can see the problem happening they cannot do anything. I am very concerned that this is a definite safety issue. If I am attempting to make a left turn and the signals are not operating as they should I could end up in a collision with on coming or approaching from the rear traffic. I believe this should be addressed immediately and repaired. Please help.

Windshield wipers failed numerous times. I had to physically move the wipers to make them move again. Gm recall on this problem does not include my vehicle only because of VIN #. I'm experiencing all the problems the recalled vehicles have. / on the second problem. I was having smoke coming out of my column due to the multi-function switch going bad. This switch controls the cruise control, turn signal, wipers, hazard lights etc. The turn signal relay kept going off , sounding like the hazards were on all the time. I notified the dealer and they confirmed other people were having similar problems with this type of vehicle.
