Three problems related to abs brake fail have been reported for the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake lines rusted , abs failure ,gas lines rusted, trans cooling lines rusted. These were all failures that needed replacement through the years I have owned it. Now frame rusted and cracked . Truck basically shot .
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. While pulling into a parking garage at 5 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed. The contact crashed into a wall. The vehicle is currently at the body shop and the mechanic stated that the abs failed and disabled the brakes. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer to have the failure verified. The manufacturer informed the contact that his insurance company would need to file a claim and a gm inspector should be available within several days. The dealer information was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 118,085. Updated 12-31-07. The consumer believed the abs module was defective.
While driving abs system switched to manual, at 55mph module that controls abs system had failed.
