On or about November 12 the brakes on my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck failed suddenly when approaching a stop sign and I passed through the intersection, being unable to bring the vehicle to a halt in the distance available. While the intersection was clear, and no accident resulted, my vehicle was completely disabled. A local mechanic said the brakeline had failed - even though there are less than 32,000 on the vehicle. He said he had seen several failures on vehicles of similar vintage and light service. Repairs cost over $900. GMC assumed no liability.
