2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2016

Abs system is kicking in at slow speeds, as in a crawl like you were driving next to a walking person. Like I am pushing on the brake pedal and it is pushing back and not allowing me to stop truck. Very scary.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2015

Pulling into my driveway truck started to slow then the pedal went to the floor. Tried pumping the brakes but did not stop untill I hit two garbage cans and pushed them into my garage door. I now have a truck I cant drive and a garage door that will have to be replaced. There was no warning I am just fortinate that no one was infront of this truck. One of the lines to the rear of the truck blew out and lost its fluid all over my driveway. I thought if you lost 1 line the truck could still stop with the front brakes but I had nothing. Please warn people before this problem kills people.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2015

I was slowing down to park to unload some recycling and I pressed on my brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor. I was barely able to avoid hitting the person in front of me (outside of their vehicle) and their vehicle. I pumped the brakes but the pedal did not resist at all. My brakes were totally inoperable without using the emergency brake. I got out and had brake fluid streaming out of the lines right below the drivers seat.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

On Monday afternoon 5/11/15 I had just hooked up a small trailer in preparation to go pick up my granddaughter from central michigan university the following day. This was going to require a round trip distance of roughly 400 miles. While turning my truck around to park it for the night I discovered to my horror that the brake pedal on my truck went all the way to the floor with no stopping power at all. This happened suddenly and with absolutely no warning at all. I shudder to think what might have happened if this occurred during the road trip to pick up my granddaughter. I called my son in law who helped me replace a main trunk line for the brakes going to the rear axle. This could have been a disaster and but for the grace of god, did not occur during the trip the next day.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2014

Today I was on freeway in bumper to bumper traffic and when I went to stop my brakes fluttered and made a weird noise and I pushed with all my strength on brake pedal to stop and wasn't able to stop like 25 other cars in my life would have stopped and rear ended a minivan, there was minimal damage done to his van, my bumper has a little dent and his van has a small scratch, this I the third time in last week this has happened with the first 2 me thinking it was nothing because it only happens maybe 1 out of every 300 brake applications, I came home today and did some research on google and found out there are 1000s of trucks like mine with the abs activating at low speeds causing crashes, I called gm and asked a few questions and all they said was my VIN does not qualify for abs or brake recall gm had on these yr trucks. If my truck is doing the same thing as these trucks that qualified for recall why wont they fix mind because obviously its same problem, the gm guy I spoke with played dumb and act like he has never heard of someone having my issue, he is lying because there is tons of people on these gm forums that have called gm with same problem as mine with same results, please help me or let me know what recourses I have to have gm fix this abs issues before someone gets killed, thank you.

Brake pedal goes to floor and is kicked back, no brakes at low speeds 5 to 8 mph. Was subject to recall when still under manufactures warranty. Problem is same now. No brakes at low speeds. Purchased this vehicle new, very low mileage. GMC will not respond to complaint. This is a serious issue.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2010

Frame is completely rotted & any service station I take my truck to for service or inspection refuses to work on my truck due to safety from accelerated frame rust & rot. I found upon further investigation that gm refuses to fix the problem. Abs activating at low speeds was brought in under warranty and repaired once already. Probably 2004. Now same thing again 2008. Very dangerous when you step on brake and abs activates for no reason (other than poor design) at low speed and increases your stopping distance by 10 plus feet.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2004

2002 GMC sierra, concerning abs. At low speeds ( less than 5mph) brakes release, will not hold. . Recall in 2005, was fine ,lasted 2 years, then same thing, virtually no braking at low speeds, dealer said it could be $400 or $500 to fix, I don't think so. I asked him to pull the fuse, refused, found location of fuse and yanked it and the trucks brakes work fine. This is a dangerous situation and should be fixed permanently by GMC.
