Tl-the contact owns a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the brakes began to pulsate upon engagement with a sudden activation of the anti-lock braking system (abs). As a result, there was a delayed response in braking to a stop. The failure recurred four times as the contact was driving at low speeds of 10 mph or less. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that both front abs speed sensors would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000. Kmj.
Front abs speed sensors failed at 26,000 miles. The manufacture said this was due to normal wear and tear, this model year should have 60,000 miles on it. They have reimbursed some owners for this problem and refuse to pay others. No one at gm could explain why both sensors went out at the time.
