The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the headlights were dim, reducing the contact's ability to see the roadway while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for the headlights' replacement. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption, and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 370,000.
The high and low beams quit working while driving at night. This caused safety issue for myself and other drivers. Fuses good and bulbs good. Have seen multiple listings online about the same thing happening to other owners.
The headlights are dangerously dim, can't drive the vehicle comfortably at night. There seems to be no solution for fixing them. A TSB has been issued concerning this, but does little to address fixing the problem.
Back up lights and tail light problems my back up lights turn on when the headlights are turned on and do not shut off unless the headlights are off. Also, recently, the rear tail lights were burning out early and would last only two weeks. The source of the problem seems to be in the fuse box. There is no short in the system. It appears to be in the fuse box of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Bulbs were replaced and burned out quickly. Replacement parts are expensive and this problem exists on other Chevrolet and GMC trucks.
Both headlamps stopped working when driving at night. Neither the low or high beams will work.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the passenger’s side headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the water pump had failed. Despite the failure, the contact managed to drive the vehicle home. The next day upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated and both engine fans began to run at full capacity. The contact called the dealer and made an appointment for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The reverse lights are not working which is affecting the rear camera as well.
Poor head lights doesn't show the road very poor lighting read where was other complant about this.
The engine shuts off and it looses all power randomly when turning , it is noow started to shut off in traffic when lightly tapping the brakes. .
Interior light flashes when stepping on break pedal.
Was driving down the highway at highway speeds rolled the passenger window up the stereo cut off the gauges cut out and the wipers wipes in one time. Then a message stating stabilitrak needed to be serviced and electronic power steering was out.
I temporarily had no control over the vehicle causing me to have an accident. While driving down a residential street approaching a stop sign intersection I merged into the center of st to pass a trashcan and in the process of returning to my correct position on the road I suddenly had no steering. Panicking from the loss I pressed my brakes an attempt to bring vehicle to a stop but was unsuccessful because the tires began a slide once noticing the traction loss I proceeded to release brakes and reapply in hopes of gaining traction the brief relief from brakes caused the vehicle to regain traction and while I still have no control over steering, the vehicle jerks towards the right side of the road and the brakes being reapplied the vehicle continues to slide off pavement making contact with stop sign and telephone pole.
During driving, the stability sensors would go off and show up stating stability turned off, or power steering turned off. The voltage on vehicle would suddenly drop from 15 to 9 and then back up. This will usually turn off the interior lights and electronics. I have discussed this with other 2014 sierra and silverado owners and they all advised this was occuring on their vehicles. There is a ground wire that was not properly installed under the dash which causes high resistance material to cause electrical issues. During one of my drives to work going 60 mph, the electrical components shut off and caused the engine to stop running. I was able to pull over while coasting on no power and restart the vehicle and it would continue to go. There have been times where the steering wheel would jerk while stationary as well. After many forum discussion this all related back to the ground wire not being properly installed by the manufacturer.
The factory installed head lights are so bad that you can barely see at night one of the worst most dangerous issues I've ever seen on a vehicle please let me know how we can remedy the situation.
There truly is no accident at this time. However . . . If this condition isn't corrected, there will be accidents. These may result in not only loss of life or property, but possible criminal prosecution. The issue: the projector headlamp design of the 2014 GMC sierra is extremely subpar for lighting the roadway ahead of you. Individuals, in order to not "outdrive" their lights, would probably have to go below posted minimum speed limits on highways, presenting yet another issue for the driver as well as those who would approach from the rear in nighttime driving conditions. I contacted GMC . . . Aware of the issue. No help at this time. I got the impression from the operator that "not enough people have filed complaints. " I'm guessing that when the catastrophic and tragic happens, it will not matter that not enough people filed complaints . . . Officially. Slight research on the internet will show many individuals complaining about the issue. But GMC's admission that they are "aware" but are taking no action at this point is very disturbing. I would have thought that design issues would have had to be cleared by an oversight agency of some sort? I just discovered the extremely scary feeling of "driving in the dark" . . . Basically . . . After having my truck since thanksgiving. But I drive mostly in the daylight, and have been on interstate 20 in one of the busiest sections with traffic at night . . . Not realizing how much others' lights were helping. When driving alone on a rural road, however, it is tantamount to driving with a flashlight when it comes to safety. I am wanting to trust that the agency tasked with safety will please look into this issue? before someone or multiples lose their lives and lawsuits ensue?.
Not bright enough. It is not safe to drive dark countryside roads. No side visibility at all. I almost hit a cow.
Head lights are substandard and unsafe on this vehicle. It is unsafe to drive faster than 40 mph on low beam and not much better on high beam. When turning 90 degrees you are turning in to the dark.
Vehicle will lose power and shut off while driving, while in reverse I have had the steering wheel ripped out of my hands. Random error messages on dic, random starting issues. Taken to shop multiple times, they cannot find an issue.
Poor illumination, after a few days the lights have been adjusted the light points very low that its almost imposible to see at night while driving at normal road conditions and with a good weather.
Can not see at night, needs to be recalled.
The head light on my $30. 000 sierra truck can,t see at night! gm needs a recall.
Head light don't offer enough lighting at night.

I almost hit a deer when the vehicle was new as I could not see it until it was next to the passenger door, standing still. I had the dealer adjust the lights three times and install the GMC update, on the computer. I now have a blob of white light fall on the center line and another blob in the center of the driving lane. There is no light illuminating far forward or to the sides as should be. I talked with the dealer and there are no further updates for now. I have since had several close calls. I have driven professionally in the past.
Clock and outside air temp readings are so small, you can't see them, without taking your eyes off the road, long enough to bend over close to the radio. This is as bad as someone using a cell phone to send and receive text. I have driven off the road twice, but have not crashed yet. My gm dealer says, the readings can not be made larger, and to be very careful.
Heads lights are so dim I cant drive the truck at night also the is a bad vibrations coming from the rear end.
Head lights are very dim and I can not safely see the path I am traveling. An upgrade was performed at the dealership which helped somewhat but I still can not safely see the path I am traveling. I dread driving this truck at night and do not feel safe doing so.
These head lights are so bad you can only see 50 feet in front of you on low beam at best and on high beam the lights seem to shine are in the trees. I am so sorry I did not test drive at night. Please help fix this issue before someone is hurt. My 2011 sierra was 100 % better.
While driving lost all dash lights,, had to pull to side of road shut off engine then restart. Came back on.
Today for the first time I drove my 2014 sierra texas edition in the rain at night. . . . Wow>>>>> I had to stop and wait for the rain downpour to let out so I could see where I was going. Not good. Driving at night is very stressful and eye straining to the point of taking headache medications once you are done driving. Any way to fix this extremely dangerous problem? this should be considered a safety hazard to drivers and any others on the road. This issue needs to be addressed and resolved ASAP. And gm still says there is nothing wrong. So why are they changing the design on the 2016's trucks after contacting [xxx] to see if he could provide some help this is what he had to say hi [xxx]: thanks for watching! the best way to solve your problem is to install a set of led auxiliary driving lights. They can be purchased for about $300. 00 plus labor and make a world of difference. At least that?s the way we have addressed the problem on those trucks in my shop. Healights are inadequate on low beam without the use of the lower driving/fog lamps. Lower lamps needed to light sides of road. When switching to high beams, lamps are totally useless. Beam is focused way too high and narrows. Without lower fog lamps on with high beams, there is no illumination of the road sides or lower pavement from 5-30/50 feet out in front of vehicle. This is serious issue when driving on rual hiways or county roads at night or on open interstates. Unable to see any wildlife or pedestrians on side or in front of vehicle when driving at night.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the low beams and high beams were extremely dim when activated. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30. The VIN was unavailable.
Head lights dont allow you to see the road. Not bright enough, dont shine correctly. Cant see the road or deer at night and are worse in the rain.
The large 8" intellilink radio screen in this truck has separate brightness control from the rest of the dash lights, including the instrument panel. Due to it's size and colored background, the lcd radio screen is much brighter than the rest of the interior lights. The fact that the system has no night scheme, meaning it doesn't shift to a mostly black background at night makes this problem even worse. While it is possible to lower the brightness using a dash-mounted dimmer switch, the dimmer must be lowered to minimum in order to get the radio screen to be a comfortable brightness level for night driving. At this point, the instrument cluster lights are so dim as to be extremely difficult to see and as a result require much more time and effort to read speed information. The only way to completely turn off the radio screen is to go through several menus into settings and manually turn off the screen. Not only is this a dangerous distraction while driving but if any vehicle setting such as radio volume, or hvac controls are adjusted, the screen automatically turns back on and the process must be repeated. I have contacted gm several times about this issue due to its distracting nature when driving at night and have been told repeatedly that the system is "operating as designed. " I feel this is a safety issue since the bright light in the cab ruins night vision while also distracting the driver's eyes from the road. My recommendation is for a software update for the intellilink/radio system to be designed to add a brightness setting in the system menu to allow driver's to set the radio screen brightness independently of the instrument cluster lights and to also program a "night mode" color scheme that would shift from the blue illuminated background used in the daytime to something that is mostly black.
The head lights are terrible. When driving in a area with street lighting they have very little affect . My 20 year old Mazda mpv has better lights.
