The headlights on my pick-up are absolutely horrible and dangerous to drive with. I have even gone to the expense of having brand new ones intalled and they are no different in the lighting. I can barely see one car length ahead of me when driving at night, which is prohibiting me from using my pick-up for night time driving. This is ridiculous to have spent such a large sum of money for a vehicle and not be able to see driving at night. There should be a mandatory recall of this vehicle and the headlight system.
2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd ~75k miles. Sometimes when I roll up my windows or use my blinker and it shuts off cruise control (hwy). And sometimes when I hit my breaks my headlights will dim (hwy, city streets, parking lots). When I'm turning slowly (in parking lots) the steeling will occasionally lock up and once it lost power entirely. My battery was tested at bigo and said it was fine. I've seen this online a lot for this truck and similar years, but no one seems to have a resolution. With so many incidents I'm shocked they don't have a fix or any idea what is wrong.
Vehicle headlights are down right dangerous at nighttime to the point it's not even safe to operate at night because you can not see where your going, especially on hilly terrain and curvy winding roads. The time you react you will be off the road resulting in a crash, bringing injury or death to oneself or another occupant on the roadway. Lights or way to weak and not located in the right spot on truck making half your view in complete darkness when going up and down on hilly terrain. For the life of me can not believe this has not been recalled yet. This is totally unacceptable in the day and age we life in. Please get this recalled and safe people's life. Accidents may happen and someone might go off the road and get killed and no one will know why they went off the roadway just thinking maybe they feel asleep and the real result was improper head lighting and lack of vision to stay on the roadway. Please help get this on the recall list and it's not even a expensive fix. Help safe lifes! thank you.
Headlights is so dim not safe to drive it seen where lots of people are having same issues and gm need to do something to make all there 14 and 15 better they fixed it in the 16 trucks I have tried to see if there is a recall and seen something about a fix but say it didn't help so hopefully can get something done about this just bought the truck and hate it because of this issue thanks mike.
The headlight illumination is inadequate both on low and high beams. Just upgraded for the 2nd time the bulbs for which I have ascertained that the illumination doesn't provide for my personal safety as well as for the public at large. This is not merely my own observation but for all those who either drive or are passengers in this vehicle. According to the public forums for this particular problem. . . They haven't found any corrective solution. Please, I implore you to review and find some solution to gm's inherent problem. If people haven't been injured and or more seriously (killed), it is only a matter of time. I currently have 60 k miles on this vehicle which I purchased used from a dealer with 20k miles. I have had 2 independent gm dealerships look at this problem without any corrective action.
Headlights on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 slt are totally inadequate on high or low beam. The lighting distance is inadequate and is so directional that there is no side flair lighting for turning like you have with conventional headlights. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately by the NHTSA. I have had this vehicle for 41/2 years and the problem is ongoing since I bought it. The dealer has no solution. New hi/low bulbs, dealer installed and still very dim and unsafe.
In the past 4 months, beginning at about 52k miles, I started receiving messages on my truck that said "stability control" was out and it locks the front left wheel, losing all steering, the radio and then the truck goes completely dead. The ac goes on/off and the headlights flicker. This is always at low speeds between 5-10 mph and most commonly when making a turn. I had the battery replaced at the dealership and now they're telling me I need a negative battery cable replacement?.
No accident. . . Yet! but have had multiple near misses, and feel it's just a matter of time. The headlights on this vehicle are extremely inadequate even after having the recommended headlight upgrade service bulliten completed by my local dealer.
The headlights and running lights are not adequate enough at nighttime to see . Limited site distance and brightness. I dont like driving at night because of this creating a safety problem. Looking at the possibility of installing led lights but dont think I should bare the cost since GMC has a problem they need to correct before I am hurt driving with these unsuitable lights they have installed on their vehicles.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the headlights were not bright enough at night to see past 20 feet. The dealer could not diagnose or repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.
The headlights are unsafe for nighttime driving especially in darker rural areas and in bad weather. The side lighting from the headlights are nearly nonexistent especially around sharp curves. In order to read signs at night I often have to use my highbeams in order to read them regardless if there is traffic in front of me or oncoming. I drive home from work nightly with my high beams on the entire was unless there is a car close in front of me. I've yet to have oncoming traffic flash their lights at me do to having my highbeams on. I have made the dealership aware as well as corporate gm . As of now the only action they will take is to replace my old bulbs with the same bulbs they took out. This is an extremely common issue with this vehicle but yet no recall has been made. Only a TSB which I can't even get my dealership to follow.
The headlights are so dim I doubt it would be any less safe to drive around with them off. I just purchased this vehicle, and my first time driving at night I had to park, get out of the vehicle and check to see if the light bulbs were burned out. The bulbs were not burned out, but they also do not function as headlights because they literally illuminate nothing. I can see the shadow of my truck in front of me in other vehicles headlights as they pass me. If an object, an animal, or a person were in the road in front of me I doubt I would be able to see them before it was too late. I believe a sierra equipped with these headlights will likely be involved in a collision with serious injury, property damage, or even death. I can only pray and hope that I'm not one of them. Gm has released a TSB with an expensive procedure to correct the problem signaling to me that they acknowledge that a problem exist.
GMC sierra my2014 headlight don't illuminate properly down the road, the headlight don't give good advisably during dry, fog, or wet conditions. It is kind of sad spending over 45k on a vehicle that doesn't illuminate properly. I have own other gm vehicles have better illumination. There has to be a way to get a fix for this trucks.
Poor lighting (headlights), to the point where it is unsafe. Worse yet, I didn't know about the TSB which gives a slight improvement, and cannot get it done at no cost to me due to my warranty being over by 4,000 miles.
The headlights are very dim. I can not see very far down the road and I can not see the shoulders of the roadway. It is not very safe to drive this vehicle at night with the factory installed headlights.
Vehicle has poor headlight performance when driving at night. Has been back to the dealer multiple times since purchase in 2014. Reprogramming and headlight bulb replacement was ineffective. Not safe to drive in rural/dark and or rain/snow/dark.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 65 mph, the headlights became unresponsive and produced dim lighting on the road. The failure hindered the contact's visibility. The vehicle was taken to be repaired, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 35,600.
I have returned my GMC crew cab sierra 2014 to the dealer 5 times because of inadequate headlights. The first time they service dept. Readjusted them with no improvement. The third time back the bulbs were replaced per a bulletin and bcm reprogrammed. Still no improvement especially on the right side. The fourth time I had my intelligence insulted when the service adviser told me it was because the garage door he shone them on was dirtier on the right side. What an excuse and only a fool would insult his own intelligence with that remark. The fifth time back the parts manager had ordered a new bulb for the right side and was consequently replaced a second time. I wrote a certified letter then to gm customer service and was contacted by mark 1-866-522-0300 ext. #5921569. He said I was supposed to take the vehicle to the dealership and leave it so they could drive it at nite. I did that and it was driven by paul and upon contacting him this am he told me the low beams were absolutely terrible and overall the headlights on the truck were as lousy as all the 2014 and 15 trucks are. Upon picking the truck up this afternoon the same rediculis service advisor (wally) told me that he didn't drive it and paul did and told him there was no problem with the lights. Who is the liar? isincerely believe it is wally because he is bound and determined not to fix it. The high beams on this vehicle are what the low beams should be. This is a safety issue and a $53000 truck should have safe headlights. On low beam there is a black curtain only a few feet from the hood and going downhill that black is almost at the end of the hood. I have over the past 18 months talked to four gm reps at the customer service center, with the third one telling she would make arrangements to replace the light system with the 2016 system. She called the dealer setting it up and then never followed through.
The headlights are so poor that it feels dangerous to drive at night. On top of that, when it's raining at night, I try to avoid the roads.
The headlights on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 headlights are unsafe at night on dim or high beam. Cannot see close to the sides or distance. Would be easy to hit a pedestrian. Asked the dealer if there was a recall or if they could fix the problem and they said no there was nothing they could do. I have read many other complaints on line and doesn't seem to be anything being done about it. Why isn't anything being done before people getting killed or injured. .
Headlights are extremely dim, even on the high-beam setting. Makes it extremely dangerous to operate at night and I will not drive it at night unless it's an emergency due to not being able to see.
The headlights are a huge safety issue, they are very dangerous at night. You can not see sides or in front of you . I hit a deer standing n the middle of the road, did not see it till it was right in front of me. My wife has a 2006 tahoe and her headlights are much better than the one in a 2014. GMC needs to fix it before people start dying.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the headlights provided minimum visibility at night. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a defect was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.
Headlights are dim and horrible. Very dangerous to drive my truck at night. Lighting is extremely sub standard compared to all of the other trucks on the market and roadways. This needs addressed ASAP before people get killed. GMC doesnt seem to care about these issues.
The high beam headlights, as installed from the factory and properly adjusted, are inadequate for driving on dark country roads at night, in the absence of ambient lighting from street and yard lights. The light is cast well down the road, but there is too little light spread to the shoulders of the road, making pedestrians and animals difficult to see if they are not directly in the roadway. I live in a rural area with many peach orchards and pastures, therefore there are often few, if any, street or yard lights to provide any ambient lighting. Also, many of the roads in the area have neither painted lines nor reflectors to help mark the path of travel at night. If there are hills and curves, the light pattern and output of the factory installed lights on my 2014 GMC sierra make it difficult to distinguish unmarked pavement from the grass on the shoulders of the road. All of these shortcomings are magnified when roads are wet and/or it is raining or otherwise inclement weather. I approached my dealer here in spartanburg, SC, about a remedy for the inadequate headlights, but the representative was dismissive and did not follow-up.
Poor lighting on headlights.
Headlight performance during night time driving is poor and unsafe at highway speeds in rural areas.
2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle headlights design problems. The consumer stated he discovered the headlights only had one bulb, which meant the high and low beams had to be adjusted as one unit. He exited the vehicle and measured the distance from the vehicle to where the visibility ended. The distance was 130 feet on both sides of the road. Also, on a turn of 90 or 120 degrees, there was no side lighting which meant he had to slow down to a crawl in order to make a turn. In addition, when going down hill, the visibility of the lights decreased to about 20-20 feet. The dealer raised the lights about factory specs. He could see a little better, but the high beams were 20-30 feet in the air and were useless. Ma 08/05/15.
Very dim headlights causing difficulty driving at night and in rainy weather. 2014 GMC sierra with 13000 miles. Purchased truck in March of 2015 noticed lighting issue first time I drove at night.
I traded a 2011 GMC sierra on this 2014 GMC sierra (sle / double cab / 4. 3l v6), plus still have a 2012 GMC sierra, and the lights on these 2 when compared to the 2014 GMC were / are like night and day - the 2014 GMC sierra is positively dangerous to drive at night - lights are disgusting - high beam on 2014 GMC is worse than low beam on my earlier GMC sierra's. Took copy of "carcomplaint. Com" report on headlight problem to dealership, but they said gm has not provided them with any info' of "supposed" problem, nor can they offer a solution. Have reported this problem 3 times - no action, an no concern either, in my opinion.
The headlights on this truck are horrible. I can barely see the road or sides of the road. At night cars behind/beside me flood out my lights. I have the interior lights turned completely down and still the lights are very weak and dangerous.
These are the worst headlights. I live in rural alabama and cant see edges of road or more than 50' ahead. Cant change the bulb to improve it. Very dangerous at night for me and anyone else on the road!.
The headlights do not adequately illuminate the road. There is no light to the side of road. I came very close to driving into a ditch. When driving down or up grades the road is in complete darkness. No discernable difference between high and low beams. It's very dangerous driving on unlit country roads near my home in upstate NY. When raining the problem is even worse. The headlamps on all 4 of my previous gm trucks 9jimmys, yukon and suburban) were far superior to those on my new $55,000 sierra. This truck should not be driven at night but that's unavoidable, someone's going to be hurt or killed!!!.
