I've had several problems with the truck since I bought it 3 months ago. I've fixed almost all of them-abs was activating which was pushing me into traffic nearly causing a wreck so I changed the abs speed sensor and hub assembly. Front suspension was gone so I replaced that; as well as steering parts, brakes, the parking brake doesn't work, fixing it next. Oil sending unit, a/c belt and refrigerant replaced. The problems left are evap emission vent valve solenoid, throttle pedal position sensor, and random/ multiple cylinder misfire sometimes and cylinder 4 misfire other times. In 4x4 when it gets under a load something sounds like it's binding up and it pops but it still works. When I shift into drive or reverse or accelerate from a stop it has a shift feeling in the rear with a thump sound. Sometimes I can push the gas and it won't downshift to speed up when I'm on the hwy but that's probably the tpps. I just want my 4x4 working and my shift thump from a stop to go away. Help. In 4x4 the noise happens in fwd reverse and when turning and worse in 4lo but happens in 4hi and auto but not in 2hi.

My son was driving his 2006 GMC sierra pickup, when the abs warning light illuminated, followed by the truck wanting to steer to the right. He investigated and found that the right front wheel was tilted inboard and decided to have the truck towed home. Today we removed the wheel, and found a total failure of the wheel hub assembly. This is a sealed unit that contains the wheel bearings, and has the wheel studs mounted to it also. Apparently this is not an item that can be serviced in the field, such as repacking of the bearings. Both wheel bearings were completely destroyed, and the only thing holding the wheel on was the brake caliper. We installed a new hub assembly and brake disc to correct the problem. Old parts are available.
I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab pickup with 52000 miles on it. The front hub bearings are already require replacement. On consulting with the local garage, I discovered this was not an anomaly, but , rather, a common occurrence. My previous experience over the years with gm products is that front wheel bearings could be packed or replaced at reasonable cost, and the parts provided audible notice of failure. The current design does not provide this safety feature. The entire hub must be replaced when it fails. At a cost just quoted of just below $450 per wheel. The unfortunate fact is that it is unknown how many owners of gm products from 1998 onward are driving with wheel hubs that are so worn that a catastrophic failure could cause loss of a wheel at highway speeds. . Until the resolution of this design shortfall, highway driving is extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the wheels locked up and the vehicle wobbles severely. The dealer changed the hub and the wheel bearing. The speed and failure mileage were unknown. The current mileage was 210,000.
