Within the first week of buying my 2014 GMC 1500 sierra, the transmission fluid was black in griddy. I have had it flushed, then filter changed and new fluid put in within 2 week time frame. A week later had to put a new transmission in it. It barely would drive. So a purchase at 2,999 then to a transmission 4,800 and new control arm with ball joint with new axels. They were busted. Another 2,000. Its sicking. Advice.

I purchased a 2025 GMC siera denali ultimate in December 2024. Approximately 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, I was driving down the road I received a message that said, "service suspension". I was able to call onstar for diagnostic and the truck was throwing code c2a0a. I took the truck into the dealership to see what the issue was. The dealership said that I apparently ran something over and it must have flown up and broke a plastic sensor cover on the lower rear left shock. I never hit anything but have no way to prove. So, I had to pay $526 for a new shock. Even if I did run over something if that area of the shock is that sensitive it should be better protected especially if it's not covered under warranty.
The contact owned a 2024 GMC sierra . The contact stated while his wife was driving at 50mph, the front passenger side tire detached from the vehicle and the passenger side was damaged. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. His wife sustained injuries to the neck and shoulder which required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed from the scene and deemed total loss by the insurance company. The contact stated that the ball joint, hub bearing, and 4x4 drive shaft was damaged. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Front upper control arm ball joint separated from socket.
Cross member holding file tank rusted through causing the fule tank to not be supported and shock mounts no longer support the shocks to frame causing shocks to bounce around with possibility to puncher fule tank or lines also rear cross member that holders electrical components rusts off excessive rust on top of fule tank causing a inability to make repairs without replacing fule tank in entirety.
Vehicle has approximately 45k miles, we were 2. 5 hours away from home on a paved highway driving 55mph and the front passenger side ball joint failed and upper control arm separated also instantly no brakes causing an accident . This is very dangerous and is going to kill people , we are lucky we didn't roll . I'm now afraid this will happen to the other side? chevy will not take the responsibility to fix it , our extended warranty only covered the upper control arm and not any of the other parts that had damage due to the ball joint . It was a 2. 5 hour tow as well . Also the tow truck driver said within a week this was the 4th chevy truck with the same issue 2 of them rolled . Side note , as I looked into this I haver found other of this same model vehicle to have the same problem , one that it happened at around 40k miles he fixed it then it happened again on the other side at around 50k miles on the same vehicle . There needs to be a recall , chevy has other models that have had this recall but no recall for my vehicle? links to related proof there is a big problem [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 80 mph, the vehicle skidded approximately 100 yards; however, there was no impact to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the front driver's side upper control arm and ball joint had fractured, causing the front driver's side wheel to become wedged beneath the subframe. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer advised the contact to contact the insurance company to have the vehicle inspected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
I hit a bump and both rear shock mounts blew off the rear cross member because the frame is rusted out despite having rust protection. It is available for inspection. The truck then began bouncing wildly. Meanwhile the underside of the bed isn't rusted at all, not one speck. It just seems weird to me, reminds me of the Toyota frame problems from a while back. It has not been inspected by a mechanic or insurance, my insurance company didn't seem to care in the slightest. I have had traction control and abs warnings on for a while but my mechanic said that was a faulty tire sensor.

I have a 2014 silverado high-country. The truck has approximately 110k miles. I was told by chevy the frame is rusted through and unsafe to work on. They know these trucks had problems with the rust coating and only put out a bulletin to have them recoated. The problem is rust is rust. Once the metal was exposed there is no going back. My truck would other wise last another 50-70k miles.
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the horn failed to function as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the right lane sensor stopped working as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving 60 mph in the rain or on rough asphalt, the rear suspension caused the vehicle to fishtail to the right. The contact turned to the left to control the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle returned to normal functionality after the failure. The low transmission fluid warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with an electrical systems failure. The independent mechanic informed the contact that there was adequate transmission fluid inside the transmission, and it was unclear why the warning light was illuminated. The contact was informed that weights were added to the wheels to balance each wheel. The vehicle was not yet repaired for the other failures. The contact stated that the transmission was replaced a year prior to the failure, and the horn had failed to function soon after the transmission replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Electrical glitches happen at both, low speeds and while on the roadway. My steering wheel tightens up and I get a message on the dashboard “stabilitrak” and another one “assisted steering reduced, drive with care”. My vehicle even shut off on me after pulling in to a parking space after turning steering wheel completely to one side.
The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the front driver's side wheel separated and fell underneath the front end of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to veer towards oncoming traffic. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road, where the vehicle was awaiting to be towed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 21v718000 (suspension); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,470.
I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 that I bought new in oct of 2018 and it now has 15,756 miles on it and was still like new at the time of failure. On may 23rd I was driving the truck when the driver suspension suddenly had an structural failure (mostly the ball joint coming out of the control arm) causing the front right side of the suspension to collapse while driving. This caused the truck to go left of center into on coming traffic resulting in a traffic accident.

Purchased 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 pro 2/28/2024 with 6 miles on it. Drove vehicle home (20 miles). Picked up and dropped off grand daughter from school. Proceeded to my mom's house and took her for a ride then came home. Next afternoon went to take out garbage and noticed puddle by passenger rear tire. Got under truck and found shock to be completely wet. Called dealer and made appointment to bring truck in next morning. Brought truck in next day and dealer confirmed that shock was blown. Shock is not in stock but was ordered. Currently waiting for delivery to set up appointment to replace shock (only the one that is blown of course). Truck now has 108 miles. 60 of those miles are driving from, back to and back home from the dealer. Now it sits with cardboard under it and once repaired, I have the bonus of scrubbing multiple oil slicks off of my driveway. Glad I wasn't towing or carrying a payload. . .
See attached document for complaint.
Rear half of frame crossmembers rotted away between the frame rails. Took vehicle in for routine safety inspection, and the mechanic determined that the cross members to which the rear shocks and the gas tank were attached had both broken free from the frame rails due to rust. The entire back end of the vehicle is suspended from the frame with only the leaf spring mounts. This rust is excessive and far exceeds the rust on other points on the frame and undercarriage of the vehicle.
I went to get the vehicle inspected today and was told it failed due to the chassis frame in the rear being rusted thru. This could cause the suspension to collapse any time. I see on the internet that multiple others have and are experiencing the same with the sierra and silverado. My vehicle has unlimited washes and has been washed 40 times a year and looks new from the outside.

In November 2023, my lifters collapsed and I had multiple bent pushrods on my vehicle due to the active fuel management system, leading me to become stalled in my vehicle on the middle of the road with no way of getting off the roadway safely. I have had multiple issues with this vehicle, and know many other who have as well. I had been compliant with all routine and preventative maintenance to this point, and I know that this will lead to injuries or fatalities due to these issues that gm is aware of, yet will not do anything to rectify the situation.
The vehicle steering wheel shudders at speeds from 40-55mph. The steering wheel shudders at 2-second intervals and is constant between those speeds. At first, I thought it might be one of the safety systems. It is not. This is unsafe and gm should be held responsible.
Rear shock holder rusted through cross member on frame making top of shock stay forced against bottom of the bed of the truck.

The right side started clicking out of no where when I turn the steering wheel.
There is a clunking and popping noise on the rear suspension or spring leaf when going between 5-20 mph, there is no active recalls for this but there is a lot of people complaining about this problem and the dealer does not wants to take responsibility for this issue need help. They are forums online all over the country complaining about this issue.

I have been told by an independent maine state inspection company that my left front frame rail has perforating corrosion and will not pass inspection. I have not had GMC inspect this yet but I do not think they will repair it. This truck is 10 years old and only has 59,000 miles on it. It looks like new (except for some rear bumper damage) it is unusable now and I'm afraid the left front suspension will collapse. This is completely unacceptable. Please help, thank you.
Vehicle is 12 years old with 105,000 miles and frame has multiple cracks/ holes. I was told by the dealer that the truck is basically junk.
Recall on brakes says it's fixed. My brakes fail alot suspension chunks all the time and steering feels like tire is falling off.
I was driving the vehicle heard a loud thumping sound got out to look and the driver side tire was nearly off the vehicle! had I been driving on the highway I could've been killed/seriously injured by loss of control by way of steering. It looks like the upper control arm completely seperated from the tire at the ball joint causing the tire to fall away from the vehicle. There is a current recall out there for this make, year, and model. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. No warning lamps or messages have appeared.
