Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of GMC Sierra 1500

The contact owns a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving during a rainstorm, the windshield wipers stopped functioning. The contact pulled over and the wipers began working intermittently. Most recently, the wipers stopped functioning altogether. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The contact called the manufacturer who referred him to NHTSA. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 67,550. The current mileage was 69,836.

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. In cold weather, the windshield wipers freeze up and fail to wipe the windshield. The contact attempted to replace the part to the windshield, but could not find a winter blade. The dealer was unable to assist and stated that there were many complains about the winter blades not being available. The failure and current mileages were 6,200. Updated 1/6/09 updated 01/14/09.

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact heard a grinding noise coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. The noise was heard when the vehicle was shut off. He also felt a vibration coming from the abs unit. The dealer has not inspected the vehicle to determine the cause of failure. The contact stated that he was unable to deactivate the windshield wipers. The dealer stated that the wiper pulse module should be replaced. The dealer made the replacement and no other failures have occurred. The current mileage is 34,025 and failure mileage was 33,000.

Windshield wipers will not always work. When raining they go off or stall. Pulling on wippers manually will retart them occationaly.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage 90,000 and the current mileage is 139,000. 1997 GMC sierra has windshield wipers malfunction. Windshield wipers quit working at ifferent times usually when it is raining. Currently there is a recall for this type of ehicle but according to gm, not for my vehicle based on the VIN#. The VIN # is [xxx]. I have not repaired the vehicle yet. Persistent failure of windshield wiper operation under normal vehicle operation. This led to lack of visibility through windshield. There is a well documented recall of the wiper module assembly for gm trucks/vans. My truck is a 1997 GMC k1500. When I took my truck into the dealership, they informed me that my particular VIN was not included in the recall VIN range. There is no doubt my truck has the bad parts illustrated in the recall(s) (eg, ea02006). My complaint is that it should be included and fixed by gm, and that by some sort of VIN technicality or error, they refuse to fix. What is my course of action to rectify this situation?.

GMC sierra truck windshield wipers only work sometimes. Will stop for no reason or will not stop at all. No washer working. GMC gave recall #98043 and service request #1-55077659. Dealer refused to fix, said it was not a recall. Driving as-is for now. GMC will not respond. Model year 1996.
