1 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/25/2026

Top grill deflector flew off at highway speeds creating a safety hazard for me and others in the highway. 2022 GMC sierra with the same part and grill was previously recalled for this identical issue. 2022-2026 models have the same problem and should be included in the recall. Please see safety recall n242490120.

3 Wiper problem of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

The plastic upper rail glass guide frame on the rear sliding window assembly of my 2023 GMC sierra developed structural micro-cracks during normal vehicle operation. This manufacturing defect is a known issue tracked internally by the manufacturer under technical service bulletin (TSB) #18-na-383. This structural failure allows severe water intrusion into the passenger cabin. The leaking water runs straight down the inside back wall of the cab, completely flooding and corroding sensitive, factory-installed electronic safety modules mounted directly beneath the leak path. This continuous water intrusion caused the catastrophic electrical failure and corrosion of the video processing control module located behind the rear seat. The sudden failure of this module completely disabled the rearview digital mirror camera and the 360-degree perimeter driver assistance cameras, creating immediate blind spots and an active driving safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by an authorized dealership, confirming the rear window leak as the direct cause of the electronic destruction. The out-of-pocket cost to replace the water-damaged safety components was $2,747. 00. Because the manufacturer refused to cover the replacement of the defective rear glass assembly, the structural leak remains unresolved. This active water intrusion continues to flood the cabin, creating a health hazard via mold growth and guaranteeing that the newly replaced safety cameras will inevitably short-circuit and fail again.

4 Wiper problem of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

The rear window on my 2017 GMC sierra shattered unexpectedly without any impact. The vehicle had been remote started in very cold weather and the rear window glass suddenly shattered while the truck was parked. There was no rock strike or external damage that would explain the failure. I later learned about gm customer satisfaction program n192265660 regarding rear window defroster thermal events affecting certain 2014–2019 GMC sierra and Chevrolet silverado trucks. Based on the sudden failure and the conditions at the time, this appears consistent with that issue. The auto rear defog feature in the vehicle settings was turned off, however the truck had been started using the remote start feature when the glass shattered. Photos of the shattered window are available. I am submitting this report because the rear window defroster system may cause the glass to overheat and shatter unexpectedly.

5 Wiper problem of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

While using the rear defrost my daughter smelled burning. Moments after the smell the rear window exploded. This is a sliding three part window and it shattered on the passenger side. My daughter was hit by the exploding glass.

6 Wiper problem of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

The windshield defroster and heater blower speed reduces and/or shuts off shortly after accelerating to highway range speeds. Blowing snow from alaska roads will melt and refreeze on the windshield reducing visibility creating a safety hazard. The truck has not been successfully repaired after multiple and lengthy attempts. The heated steering wheel also malfunctions intermittently. The blower motor does seem to come back up to speed when vehicle speed is reduced to city speeds but is intermittent also.

7 Wiper problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

The morning of December 12th, 2025 I used my vehicle to transport my daughter approximately 5 miles round trip from our home to drop her off at daycare and then I returned home. I used my front and rear defrost elements to expedite removal of heavy condensation which had formed on all windows overnight. This was approximately 7 am. I parked my truck in the driveway and went inside until approximately 11:45 am when I went to leave in my truck and noticed the rear sliding window had shattered. The window shattered and distributed tempered glass fragments all over the inside of the cab. Only approximately 10% of the window remained intact. I then reviewed the security camera footage from my driveway and discovered that the window failed entirely on its own with nothing hitting/striking/touching the window, nor any humans or animals in the vicinity. I attempted to take the vehicle to a GMC service department this morning (Dec 13) but due to their demand to keep the vehicle for 2-3 days to investigate yet unable to provide a loaner vehicle, I was unable to leave the vehicle in their possession and returned home. I plan to continue to contact GMC dealership service departments in hope I can find one which can provide a loaner vehicle, as I will need transportation to and from work in the coming days. I do have video footage of the incident although I am unable to add it below.

8 Wiper problem of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

If truck has a “dusting of snow” on it, blower motor for defrost and heat retracts to absolute “low” setting to supposedly protect the blower motor. Have been caught driving in snow, and defrost couldn’t keep up with keeping windshield defrosted due to this behavior. Had to pull over on expressway to clean vents on the cowl from snow in order for the defrost to work properly. According to gm, this is normal behavior. In fact this is extremely dangerous and should be investigated and a recall to repair should be made. Having to pull over to remove snow from the cowl, open the hood to clear the other vents is not safe.

9 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

The backup camera in the dark on this vehicle is unusable. Someone will eventually run someone over. I have added brighter lights everywhere on the back of the vehicle and the camera is still useless at night. The dealer told me it looked fine to them (they checked it in a lit garage). There are hundreds of complaints across all forums.

10 Wiper problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

The frame of the back window is cracking allowing water to come in through the back glass. This is causing the headliner and other components such as air bags and other electrical components to get wet and damaged. This could cause risk of fire or failure of safety components within the vehicle such as air bags, cameras and other sensors. With water intrusion comes the high risk for mold to develop and cause serious health risks. GMC is aware of this issue and will not agree to repair it. A GMC dealer has inspected the glass and said it was a faulty seal but since it's not in the 3 year warranty window, it's not covered. Independent auto glass companies state they have seen this issue many times and the glass seal is faulty. GMC should do the right thing and fix this issue. This devalues the vehicle and the GMC brand and poses serious risks to driver. I have created a case with GMC and submitted photos, videos and dealership estimates for proof.

11 Wiper problem of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/15/2025

While driving in the rain, the windshield wipers were on the highest intermittent setting and the high beam headlights were also on, automatic highbeams were not. The high beam lights dimmed to low, and the windshield wipers stopped in the middle of the windshield in the middle of navigating a sharp right hand turn at 35mph. The wipers stopped for approximately 30 seconds and then resumed operation. When the wipers resumed operation, the headlights also turned back on high with no input from the driver.

12 Wiper problem of the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 09/20/2025

Ac not working properly. Ac blows air to defrost vents foging front windshield and side windows causing bad visibility.

13 Wiper problem of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 07/30/2025

The backup camera visibility at night is poor, making it very difficult to see behind the vehicle. This poses a potential safety hazard for pedestrians who may be in the path while reversing.

14 Wiper problem of the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 06/13/2025

Driving down the road on way home from work airbags blew out. The one in the steering wheel and the one on the passenger side. It busted windshield on passenger side. Shards of stuff all over dash on passenger side. That airbag popped 2 times.

15 Wiper problem of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2025

The backup camera on the new 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 at4 is not displaying a visible picture at night. During the day time, the picture is clear. At night, you cannot see nearly anything. This is and has been widely reported online. This poses a massive safety threat to pedestrians, pets, other vehicles, and property; due to the night vision malfunction. Please make this a recall on GMC to prevent any catastrophic occurrences. This is unacceptable for any 2025 vehicle and the law requires all new vehicles must have backup cameras. It must be a requirement that the cameras function in both day and night.

16 Wiper problem of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

I don't believe this needs to have an investigation, but I would like it documented and brought to gm's attention for future body designs. I have never had as many rocks/debris hit my windshield as I have with this truck. I have had one chip in a windshield in 30+ years of driving, until this truck where I have had several that needed repairs, and this last one has created a crack large enough where my windshield needs replaced. It may be bad luck, but I've talked to multiple other sierra owners and most of them have had the same issue. A couple have had the windshield replaced almost yearly. Please at minimum inform gm engineers to possibly determine the cause (I assume aerodynamics) so they can incorporate the flaw (if there really is one) into future designs. The photo I included happened almost immediately after the impact. The crack has grown several inches since as expected.

17 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/26/2025

I was going home after work on labor day, when l heard a noise on my roof. I opened the sunscreen window and l heard what sounded like a gunshot and the sunroof exploded raining down glass on my face.

18 Wiper problem of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/07/2025

Windshields are not standard made and chip/crack easily. I’ve had 3 chips occur. Please check quality and thickness.

19 Wiper problem of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

My rear electric window is leaking into my back seat area and the ceiling of the truck has water stains. It is coming from the roof and is leaking in 3 different areas. I am afraid I will now have mold in my car and I can’t have my grandchildren in the car to be safe for them. I had it checked at a local GMC dealer and I had to pay for a leak speacialist to verify and they confirmed the window has a leak. The leak started in April 2025 and has slowly gotten worse. The dealership said I will need to replace my back window to fix the issue and gave me an estimate of $1,100 and said my extended warranty will not cover this issue.

20 Wiper problem of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/29/2025

Rear powersliding window leaks on passenger side.

Back window leaks down onto electrical compents and causes mold behind rear seat, plus staining mold on headliner.

22 Wiper problem of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/29/2025

Wipers work intermittently.

23 Wiper problem of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/24/2025

Unknown , I don’t know why are your recalls module.

24 Wiper problem of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

My rear defrosters shorted out causing a small fire and causing the window to explode. The recall for this issue has already been performed on this vehicle. . .

25 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

Intermittent problems with various systems freezing up or not working: windshield wipers freezing for several seconds mid-wipe. Nearly caused accident. Heads up display not retaining settings seat controls (bladders that inflate deflate) intermittently working/infotainment screen freeze (where seat control is displayed). Lane departure warning inconsistently working (beeping) radio quits playing for several seconds and screen goes dark blinker stops blinking and then re-starts 6. 2l engine slow/rough idle continuously hunting for stable speed (this is the only problem that is not intermittent). At times almost dies. A/c unit stuck on "hot" delivering 92 degree air when outside 72 degrees. Temp set at low. (no a/c just trying to get fresh outside air in). Vehicle was under recall and control modules "reflashed" before purchased (new). Dealer reflashed which did not solve problems. Dealer cannot duplicate (but they only spend a little time looking at the issue). Has been in shop off/on for about 2 weeks attempting to resolve. Issues on occasion still occuring since mid October 2024 purchase.

26 Wiper problem of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/09/2024

I own a 2025 GMC Sierra 1500. The rearview camera is inoperable at night (image is too dark). Brought vehicle into to purchasing dealer with complaint. After service, I was told that there was nothing they could do to correct the issue. I then contacted GMC customer service. They advised to bring the vehicle to a different dealer and upon completion to contact customer service again. I did as advised and took the vehicle to a second dealership with the same result. As you are aware, this is a violation of federal law and a serious safety issue for small children, pets or any object behind the vehicle in the dark. Based on what I have been able to discover there are many people with this same complaint. Gm is not addressing this issue and is as unwilling to assist others as they have been to assist me.

27 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/25/2024

Illumination for the rear view camera is insufficient, making the camera useless for rear visibility in dark conditions.

28 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 10/07/2024

The backup camera is worthless. You cannot see at night to back up your vehicle. Only can see dark and red spots. Impossible to see what is behind the vehicle.

29 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 07/10/2024

Extremely poor rear camera quality at night. Common complaint on GMC and chevy 2023/2024 models. Unsafe to reverse at night due to poor camera image quality. Cadillac has already issued a recall on their units which are identical to the GMC and chevy. Many posts on facebook GMC at4 and chevy zr2 owners groups about the safety issue.

30 Wiper problem of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/25/2024

The wiper blade motor is defective. While driving during a storm the wiper blade motor stopped working on the delayed and low settings. This was a safety issue while driving. I took my vehicle to get looked at a gm dealer to look at the vehicle. My vehicle is only 3 years old and should not have issues with the wiper blade motor.

31 Wiper problem of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/20/2024

My issue is with my back up camera being useless in low lighting and dark situations. I live in a dark community sometimes and I cannot use my back up camera to get me down my driveway without opening both front windows. I had a 2016 GMC sierra and I had no problem with it. I first brought it into the shop with this issue and they replaced the camera and that did nothing. The 2nd time I brought it in for the camera issue, they said it is a software issue and they are waiting for a fix. (that was back in June) I called GMC customer care and opened a case, but that is falling on deaf ears as they are saying there is nothing they can do. They tell me to keep waiting on the dealership for the fix. My daughter, son and friends are having the same issue, but they are adding additional lights. I refuse to do that, as I think GMC should take care of it.

32 Wiper problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

Back window frame crack led to water intrusion which flooded electric module controlling speedometer and adaptive settings. Extremely unsafe driving with faulty electrical components unknown to me. Insurance and dealership told me this is a common GMC occurrence. Cost is near $10,000 to make truck drivable.

33 Wiper problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/26/2024

The rear back glass is leaking water excessively in to the inside of the vehicle when it rains or gets washed. The vehicle is available at any time for inspection. The amount of condensation that accumulates on all the interior windows makes it impossible to see out of the vehicle. The defrost can not handle the amount of moisture build up. The dealer knows about this condition and it has been verified by a window company. The manufacture knows and understands there is a problem and has put out a technical service bulletin ( TSB 18?na?383 ) for this issue but will not cover the repairs. Gm knows that every single vehicle with this window designs from 2019-20121 will leak just outside the 3 year 36k mile warranty coverage. The cost of repair is approximately $2k. Dealer will not cover repair.

34 Wiper problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/12/2023

The rear window was leaking a substantial amount of water soaking the back seat. Had the service bulletin done, which did not work. Then under further inspection found cracks in the rear power window track. Dealer told me gm would not cover replacement because it was out of the 3 year warranty. Then was told it would cost me 1200 dollars to replace. Gm should cover this because it will lead to black mold.

35 Wiper problem of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/03/2023

Front blind spot visibility is dangerous and GMC does not provide a forward facing camera standard. Blind spot warning also not standard and visibility is subpar.
