Defroster/defogger/hvac System Rear Window Problems of GMC Sierra 1500

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that there was smoke coming from the rear window and the window shattered. The contact stated that the defroster was operating during the failure. The contact stated that the shattered glass had fallen on the contact's minor son, who was seated in the rear seat. The son had not sustained any injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was previously performed and covered under the warranty. The contact was informed that the current repair was not covered under warranty. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 156,800.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC sierra. The contact was informed by the dealer upon purchase of the vehicle that there were three recalls on the vehicle(recalls unknown). One of the recalls was related to the rear defroster which the dealer informed him was repaired. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle he smelled an abnormal odor emitting from the vehicle. While traveling at 25 mph, the contact heard a popping sound emit from the vehicle but initially though nothing of it. The next day while driving the vehicle, the contact felt a rush of air entering the vehicle and upon inspection discovered that a baseball sized hole had formed on the back rear windshield. The dealer was initially notified of the failure but they offered no assistance. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to a dealer for a diagnostic. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the windshield was replaced. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact 2020 GMC sierra ld crew denali/at4-t1. The contact stated that while driving in the snow , the tire pressure light had illuminated. The contact stated that her vehicles power steering light had illuminated as well. The contact stated she has contacted the dealer ,as well as the manufacture who was not able to assist. The contact stated that she had not yet experienced a failure with the 2 , besides the warning lights illuminating , however she did experience a failure with the windows freezing from the inside her vehicle , causing leaking inside her vehicle. The contact stated she took the vehicle to the dealer who advised her that there were no recalls or warranty , and she would have to pay out of pocket. The failure mileage was 140,000.
