Diesel fuel gage is not reading properly. On a full tank which use to say I have approx. , until 468 miles, until I have to re-fuel. Now reads less then 288 miles, on a full tank. I have reported this problem to the town and country, GMC, dealer, of alamosa, CO. When I have taken my vehicle in for service on several occasions, and nothing has been done about it. And GMC, has still not replaced the recalled passenger air bag. My wife sits there and could be killed should her airbag be deployed. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Had injectors replaced under warranty at 50000 miles after noticing excess exhaust smoke on startup and also power steering hoses were leaking, again at 105000 miles they totally failed as I was bringing my wife home from hospital on I-15 in CA. Up cajon pass and had to be towed to dealer, but gm dealer would not cover injectors under warranty as truck was11 years old and their coverage was for 7 years only, now again had to have them replaced at 147000 miles because of excessive smoke on startup. This time I went to an independent shop as they were $1000 cheaper and stated these upgraded injectors should last 150000 miles not 50000. Had to have power steering hoses replaced again also along with power brake servo because they were leaking again at 157000 miles. I have all of this documented in writing by service depts.

P21dd code low voltage. This is second time it has been replaced. 62145 miles on truck. .
I purchase this truck 2/03/17 and have used it until 2 weeks age when the brake lines broke in my driveway, I am having the lines replaced with stainless lines at a cost of about $1200 ( I am not sure of the total cost because it also needs a antilock braking pump which was badly corroded) the fuel lings are also rusted and need to be replaced and also the transmission cooling lines need to be replaced at a cost to be determined later. I have a 1953 chevy pickup that still has good brake lines and the frame is in better shape than the newer ones, if gm looked to the past at the materials & methods they might build a better product rather than the garbage they produce now! I am glad I didn't pay $30-$60,000 for this truck.

My vehicle's engine stopped running while I was driving on a very busy road. I lost power steering, power brakes, everything. Other motorists were swerving to avoid me. I had the truck towed to a gm dealer, and they diagnosed the problem as the fuel injector pump. I researched this online, and found that this is a common issue! this should be a major safety concern since it's causing vehicles to simply stop running at any given speed on any given highway!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000. Cb.

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle had a massive oil leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors were defective, which filled the crankcase full of fuel and was a known issue. The vehicle would have been repaired per an extended warranty; however, it fell outside of the parameters of the extended warranty, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.

In the past three months the fuel lines needed replacement as they had rusted so badly that a leak formed. Yesterday while pulling my 10,000 pound boat, my brakes suddenly failed because of a leak in the line between the abs box and the right front wheel. The catastrophic failure nearly caused me to lose control of my vehicle and boat. I was able to downshift and use by emergency brake to bring the rig to a stop.

The headlights on the GMC 2500 hd are not bright enough. The lights are not able light roads without street lights, makes it very dangerous. Fuel filter has been replaced twice and my truck only has 12,000 miles on it. When I asked with the life of a fuel filter should be I was told by the GMC dealership at least 15,000 miles. It is possible there is a malfunction within the senor for the fuel filter.
Brake line rusted through and lost all braking capability. Luckly it happened pulling into my driveway and not on the highway! fuel lines rusted through and leaking fuel puddling onto the ground.
(electrical) as an ongoing issue, the dashboard gages/indicators (I. E. Tach, speedometer, etc. . ) will sometimes not register until several minutes after the vehicle has been running (this could be for up to miles) it has not affected vehicle performance to date. (fuel/propulsion system) I have begun having issues where it goes into "reduced engine power". Further diagnostic attempts have led me to believe that it is due to a faulty throttle position sensor (part of the throttle body), tac module, or app assembly (accelerator pedal). Most likely cause may be due to the throttle position sensor, as this issue has happened when the vehicle is on "cruise control". However, due to the inferior design of the throttle body unit itself, the manufacture has made it difficult or if designed to be impossible to replace just the tps, by riveting the tps to the throttle body, and may have to replace the whole throttle body. I am having the vehicle serviced for a complete diagnostic and repair, and will elaborate further upon successful repair if desired.
Truck would only burn 12-14 gallons of diesel before gauge would read empty. Level sensor was the problem.

The truck shut off no power brakes, steering. This happened while pulling a trailer. The GMC dealer informed me that the shut off was the result of a pump mounted driver (pmd) failure on the 6. 5l diesel motor. Very unsafe should have resulted in a accident.

I have a 2009 GMC Sierra 2500hd 4x4 automatic diesel lmm. While towing my travel trailer on the freeway at 65mph the dashboard displayed the message "engine power reduced" all of a sudden. While this was being displayed the vehicle slowed rapidly to 35mph and the vehicles behind me were scrambling to move over. I limped the vehicle to the nearest exit and connected my obdii reader and it displayed the code of p0087 low fuel rail pressure. I limped the vehicle to the nearest auto parts store and changed the fuel filter as a precaution. I was able to limp the vehicle home the rest of the way without any further issues but the remainder of my commute was down hill - luckily. I would like to know if there is any further information on this and what the manufacturer is going to do if at all.

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that the oil level was elevated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred after approximately 30,000 miles and the vehicle was emitting smoke. The vehicle was repaired with new fuel injectors but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 209,000.
I own a 2003 GMC duramax 167000 miles, it has been a great truck until recently, after engine gets hot it will not start back up until it has cooled off! have not been able to find the problem yet, but found a lot of complaints online from people with the same problem, [injectors], very expensive to repair!!! this problem is very frustrating, would be great if general motors would correct this problem!!!!.
Arriving at my RV site in alabama from upper michigan a neighbor saw something leaking from near the left front tire of my pickup. Upon determining it was diesel I immediately drove to the local chevy dealer. They said due to the condition of the lines they all be replaced. Next day I was asked to come to the garage to look at the brake lines as they could not move any to get proper routing of the fuel lines. The lines attaching to the abs modulator, total of 6, looked like you could crumble them with your hand so all were replaced as well. I pull a 33 foot fifth wheel and consider we were extremely fortunate nothing happened on the road.

On the duramax diesel, while under a load (towing, full bed) fuel lines collapse causing several check engine lights and vehicle to go into "limp" mode. Must release vacuum in fuel system (by loosening the fuel filter then re-bleeding the fuel system) in order for the code to go off. Happened several times, once while towing up hill. If this had caused an accident, I would have been a gm share holder. Vehicle has stalled out several times in the winter due to a combination of the winter diesel and the vacuum fuel system. Once while on an icy road, on my way to work at 4am. Gm needs to recall this.
2003 GMC Sierra 2500hd the injectors want bad was told it was the fuel housing. So changed that now having to change injectors.

I understand gm had a recall on the brake booster sytem and also a few years back a recall on replacing all the fuel injectors on the diesel engine ! I am oringinal owner at the same address when I purchased the vehicle new ! I missed the recalls because I never was notified ! its sad to buy a gm product and they don't alert me to a recall ! what's up with this?.
I was traveling at approx. 50mph with two passengers, weather clear, when we smelled a hint of burning plastic. Continued traveling and after 2 or so miles the truck slowed and acted as though it was running out of fuel. Pulled to side passenger in back seat noticed the truck was on fire between the bed and cab underneath. Witness who was behind in another vehicle stated that sparks were flying from the truck while going down the road previous to my pulling over. The fire was leaning toward the drivers side so after a trying time of waiting for the front seat passenger to find the lock, we escaped through the pass door unhurt. A fire extinguisher proved to be no help as the truck was soon engulfed in flames. My truck had 75,000 miles on it, had never been in an accident and was dealer maintained. I am the original owner. I called gm who responded quickly and stated they would send an investigation team out. After communication between gm and my insurance CO, gm stated they were going to work with the insurance and close the case without looking at the vehicle. I feel somebody should inspect this truck as we could have easily been killed out there and trucks should not spontaneously go up in flames! would be a shame to settle for insurance money and have the evidence crushed while thousands of people are driving the same truck. My truck is destroyed but perhaps lives will be saved if this situation is looked into.
