2 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2013 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

I bought my 2013 Sierra 2500 hd 4x4 used with only 42000 miles on it. Within 1000 miles of that purchase, the power steering pump failed and needed replaced. I was pulling into the gas station and almost took out a fueling tower. Power steering pumps do not fail -- they are manufacturing defects. I have had vehicles for 30 years and never had a ps pump failure. Most people never experience this. I had to fork out $500 for the repair -- GMC should reimburse me for this ; they are lucky this did't turn out to be a catastrophe. I was lucky to have been moving very slowly due to the congestion at the station.

3 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 02/11/2016

Power steering failure. Power steering pump failed making the vehicle difficult to steer. Upon making a left turn at low speed steering failed and could not turn into my RV resort entrance off the main roadway. I had to come to a stop, continue backing up & pulling forward enough to try to complete turn. Had to have truck towed to a GMC dealer for service (power steering pump replaced). Leading up to failure, a few times the truck would be difficult to turn but it would last only a few seconds. After having it replaced it again happened over the weekend I will contact GMC in the morning. I am pulling a 15,000 lb. 5th wheel RV with this truck & not feeling confident in my safety after this incident.

5 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2006 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 02/13/2010

Truck was parked in garage on a Friday night, with no problems. Started truck Saturday am to back out of the garage to hook up a trailer. I put the truck in reverse, then discovered it wouldn't steer and it wouldn't stop. Nearly took out the side of the garage door with the mirror, not to mention, nearly running over one of my kids! I had to engage the emergency brake in order to get the vehicle to stop - half in and half out of the garage. I shut the truck off and restarted it, but nothing changed. Called a flatbed truck to take the truck to the dealership. Power steering pump had failed and they replaced it. I'm very lucky that I wasn't pulling the trailer when this happened, as I could have been killed, or killed someone else. Very scary situation. There had been no trouble with the brakes or steering leading up to this incident - it was just boom - it happened. I purchased this diesel truck new, and have had the dealership do all scheduled maintenance. It has never been involved in any accident, and it is kept inside a garage when not in use.
