On my 2002 GMC Sonoma truck the front driver side brake pad was worn off and the rotor severely scored and ruined by 14,000 miles, to the extent that the GMC dealer declared it unsafe to drive. Mean while the passenger side front brake pad was largely intact and the rotor perfect. Also the abs system failed to stop truck promptly or smoothly on several occasions.

The front/rear brake rotors wear out prematurely, causing extended stopping distance. Dealership repaired the problem.
I bough 2001-GMC-truck-sonoma. As a left over. On January 11, 2002,is the date I received it ,that is when I bough it. On April 10, 2002 @\at 1160 miles, they replaced both of the front brake rotors. On August 14, 2003 at 7745 miles they replaced both of the rear brake rotors, and turned front rotors. Now as of jan212006,there is only 17,868 miles on the truck, it's always be garage keeped. And well cared for. It's still has the new small inside, now all 4 of the rotors and brakes haves to be replacd. I cannot under stand why its shouldbe up to me to replace with only then miles-per above.

Rotors are rusted all four and warped. Dealership is aware of problem. Warped rotors caused brake pads to wear primaturely.

Had taken vehicle to dealer to check the brakes. The rotors had worn out & were shot. Service manager informed manufacter of problem and was told to replace the rotors, but not the pads. Was charged for the rotors, even though under warranty. Had vehicle checked again & repairs were not done, but the rotors were turned.

When applying brakes the vehicle pulls to the right, afraid it will happen and hit another vehicle. Also replaced rt rotor/caliper.
Rotors out of round causing vehicle to pull.
My 1998 GMC Sonoma developed a braking problem - pulling hard right. The vehicle (under warranty - 15,000 miles) was taken to the dealership to correct the problem. The front rotors were turned, pads deglazed, wheel bearings repacked, rear drums turned and shoes adjusted to correct the problem. The cost to me was $217. I have never experienced brake problems at such low milage on any vehicle I have ever owned. I am convinced that a defect exists in the braking system that gm is attempting to blame on the consumer.
