Abs & emergency dash lights will turn on/off intermittenly; no pattern as to when/how often. Had gm dealer check it. My ebcm had a short, if lights were on, had no abs, just hydraulic if lights were off. I have abs. Cost of new module is $1100. 00; plus labor!! dealer suggested I live with it for cost of repair! I agreed, but worried that gm probably were ignoring lights & thinking they had good abs!!.

Tonight, a rainy night in texas I had to brakes suddenly. Finally my abs brakes worked properly . There was no heavy pull to the left swerving into the next lane, as it did from 2003-2005. There was pulsation from the braking mechanism that I never felt before like I told it should work. I didn't have to fight with the wheel to keep control. It never swerved like numerous times before out of the over 100 times my abs brakes malfunctioned , this time finally it worked the way abs should work during a wet bumpy road. Last year after many phone calls about my many issues,gm corp and the dealer finally was willing to check out my vehicle again with abs brakes and other issues. I drove my vehicle at my cost from texas to georgia. The dealer reported my vehicle's issues were repaired. The drl issue (turns off while using the turn signal, stupid defect that they have in the manual. As if it normal. I still don't know any other car that does this ) the problem is still there but the electrical issue is gone. When I had the electrical problem it affected the entire vehicle over the time I had the truck. I even had my radio replaced over nine times. My last issue was the system not recognizing the check engine light being on and driving from GA to TX and back before it would go out. I drove 2000 miles. . . . . Abs brakes. " what ever the dealer did to my car to repair the swerving issues. They need to do a recall for those people who have malfunctioning abs brakes on the Sonoma vehicle. There is a defect and it should be acknowledged. Mine was fixed after 3 years. These brakes were defective and dangerous until repaired. I have avoided many accidents by being very careful ; offensive and defensive driving. Have gm fix those faulty abs brakes. Please note you can find my many complaints under GMC Sonoma 2002.

: the contact stated while traveling 35 mph the contact depressed the brake pedal and it went to the floor. The vehicle was towed to an independent towing service.
Please see my numerous entries- took vehicle in again to service department. Picked up 11/17/05. Abs brakes. Supposedly they have finally diagnosed them. !replaced bad wheel sensor. H0161. 9. I was told they didn't check them previously. I have documented the number of times this has been an issue and I have brought them in. . Their records only show twice. Radio-replaced 8 times already duplicated freezing, playing 1 station and showing another at oth dealer and doc, they didn't replace this time however they installed updated software. "why wasn't this done before" and they advised a cd was stuff in the player. It was not, my dau was playing a janis joplin cd and took it with her when we left the vehicle. When turn signal used daytime running light goes out. They say this happens on some cars but not all. They cannot tell you which cars it happens to. Once when I brought it in, they fixed it. Then it started going out again. This time they showed me a piece of paper that said "some vehicles" has this but they do not designate which vehicles, I still do not know if it is a design flaw, electrical issue or both. Emissions, I've driven over 2500 miles and it finally passed the readiness test. I took this in 4 times before driving 1000, they on the fifth time I took it in it passed why did I have to drive so many miles in order for my vehicle to pass the emissions. My lemon tainted 2002 Sonoma truck gm rep sys his record sys I was never towed. As you know I was towed twice. Once when engine just stopped and second when my battery just died. General manager at dealer sys my complaint shows only twice. They still tell me I do not have any electrical issues. I say I do. Are my brakes fixed? I will need to drive it and will let you know!.

Anti-lock system defective in strategy of operations. Seems designed for icy roads and activates under the lightest of braking applications on front wheels with 1-2 second recovery time (without brakes) with only slight pedal & slight wheel bounce. This happens with 1-2 passengers & about 75-100 pounds in truck ped (bed cover) on dry streets approaching intersection with ripples or potholes on one side with very light slow (grandpa style driving) light braking- front wheel senses the slightest lockup & deactivates brakes (1-2 second recovery time) & then reapplies. This has resulted in multiple times of leaving me in intersection with vehicles skidding to stop to keep from t-boning my vehicle. Have complained to dealership management, gm district field rep who tell me this stratedgy is normal. This stratedgy will get people killed if it hasn't already. They told me there is nothing they can do. This report is being made to hopefully force something to be done. I could do better job of preventing brake lock up using ancient mode of stab breaking if necessary but wouldn't need to under descibed scenario.
Vehicle was involved in frontal collision with a chevy full size pick-up at approximately 20-25 mph. Both abs/air bags failed to operate/deploy. Vehicle left a skid mark of 20 feet or more. Dealer/manufacturer were contacted.
When driving at freeway speed(70-75mph)/abs & regular brake system warning light comes on/I ask to fix it to my dealer management and gm customer assistance center many times but they said "we can,t".
My 2000 GMC Sonoma pick up abs brakes activate on a daily base. Under 20 mph and on dry pavement. When they activate they pull to the left that the right. Did they use the wrong tires?.
Abs brake problems: whny applying brakes during an emergency on wet pavement/icy or snowy roads, brakes locked up, causing extended stopping distance. This condition could cause a crash. Dealer could not duplicate this problem, and problem has not been corrected.
Anti lock brakes locked up. Mjs.
We have had numerous problems with this vehicle sine one month after purchase including the idle sticking/interior moulding cracking/transmission rebuilt/computer replaced due to failure engine check light indicator light does not turn off, and right side brake does not seem to wear properly. . My husband is able to recall more.
Anti-lock brakes engage and pulsate to slow down but not stop when going over bumps on paved surfaces. Includes all speeds. On one occasion this caused me to proceed an extra estimated 15 feet into an intersection where an accident occurred. Dealership and manufacturer contacted and system checked. Was not satisfied with the inspection of the braking system. Since this incident, this has happened again, although with no resulting consequences.
While driving at about 35-45 mph, trying to slow down and make a turn, and brakes went to the floor. Consumer lost control of vehicle and crashed into two trees, and air bag did not deploy.
Was driving vehicle & stopped quickly. Could feel it & hear it trying to kick in. Felt like vehcle was on ice. Did not stop right away. Went through an intersection & through a red light. Finally, got it to stop. Contacted dealer about abs, recall campaign , but dealer could not offer anything.
When driving at any speed and applying the brakes vehicle shakes.
No summary listed for this vehicle.

Consumer was pulling vehicle into garage ,went to apply brakes, vehicle did not stop, causing loss of control and resulting in a crash. Pushed pedal to floor , no response. Dealer claims no defect in vehicle.
When applying the abs brakes on dry pavement the pedal traveled to the floor, causing extended stopping distance.
In snowey or rainey weather, antilock brakes pulsate irradically at various speeds (including 5 mph) when brakes are applied, even when no skid or hard breaking is occuring. Braking when this occurs, which is intermittently, is poor and uneven. Dealer and gm corp. Contacted, but all say no recalls have been initiated. This is a dangerous condition, and an accident (law suit) waiting to happen.
