1 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1999 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 04/28/2003

Rear brake rotors disintegrated after 22,000 miles. Had to be turned and pads replaced. Front rotors replaced at 32,000 miles same condition. Master cylinder failed and needed to be replaced at 32,800 miles. Pedal went to the floor and nearly went in front of a semi. Pedal can be pumped up but gradually goes to floor.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1998 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 01/15/2003

Started off with a sudden failure to accelerate on highway then corrected itself; on and off for a few weeks. Discovered that brake pedal was soft and was failing to return to starting position; replaced master cylinder to eliminate soft pedal but still sticking and not returning to starting position. Cannot find cause.

While driving and applying brake pedal brake pedal nearly goes to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer has replaced brake master cylinder. But, problem still occurs. Please provide any further details.

Failure Date: 11/01/2001

Brake pedal almost goes to the floor causing extended stopping distance. Dealer has replaced master cyclinder which did not correct problem. Please provide further details.

5 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1996 GMC Sonoma

Failure Date: 08/08/1997

Abs problems; when traveling about (35-45) mph and applying the brakes, the pedal did not go down at all, and truck ran into the back of another truck. This happened on normal road conditions. Mechanic stated that the master cylinder and the power booster stopped working. GMC refuses to fix vehicle because of crash. Truck still under warranty.
