While I was driving on a highway, my sunroof suddenly imploded, causing shattered glass to fall all over myself and my car. The outside temperature was 50° and my car’s internal temperature was set to 68°. I reported this to the gm dealership and they told me to just report it to insurance. I am making a claim with insurance now. There were no warning or signs of this happening, just a sudden extremely loud noise and glass falling. No inspections have been done.

The strike plate on my rear driver door fell off. The plate and bolts are in perfect condition but the backing is gone. Multiple body shops have attempted to locate the backing, which is somewhere between the interior and exterior metal body pieces, and gave been unable to. Every body shop I've taken it to also says that they have never seen anything like this happen before. They are reluctant to fix it because that would mean cutting through the body to replace the backing for the strike plate then welding, sanding, and painting in the area they cut and they worry about the integrity of the striker and functionality of it as well, as they've never had to do a repair like this before. One of the body shops was also a certified gm repair shop at the dealership from which the car was purchased and even they have said the same as the others. They also encouraged me to report this to the NHTSA and gm as well because they've never seen it happen or heard of it happening and they are concerned because it is a safety issue. I know that there is a similar recall on some newer GMC Terrains and wonder if my issue would be related to the recall or if it's is a separate issue all together. The striker was barely touched and someone exited my back seat and fell off into a parking lot, I was able to recover the striker and both bolts which are completely undamaged and unworn. This is my only vehicle so I now have to hold my door shut with bungee cords and tape in order to use my vehicle. I have a child who is still in a car seat and must remain in the back seat for safety but now my backseat is also not very safe because of the door. A few days prior to the striker falling off my door would not close fully flush with the rest of the vehicle but still closed, locked, and remained closed with no other issues.

Rear side windows in hatch area leaked filled up spare tire compartment with about 3-4 gallons of water. Now navigation doesn't want to work, sunroof not working, electric systems are not working right.
After heavy rain the backseat of the car was flooded as well as the rear wheel well likely due to the sunroof not draining properly. This led to electrical failure of the sunroof mechanism and potential to damage other electrical elements. This will be looked at by the dealership but have read that this is a known issue.

The emergency breaking system failed to engage. Failure to engage caused collision with another car.
The failure point was the seal on the sunroof and the sunroof itself. A correct failure mode would be for it to leak into the cabin thus being immediately visable. Instead, an internal seal apparently failed allowing the intruding water to flow unobserved into the bulkhead region between the car body and the internal liner of the vehicle. As a consequence it flowed down a side post exiting into the dashboard and control panel. The dashboard shorted out elliminating the turn signal indicator (and possibly the turn signal itself). The radio and amplifier and the general alarm system went to maximum volume. Fortunately, it did not short out the airbag, thus it did not deploy while I was on the freeway, maybe next time. The salient point is that water was allowed to intrude through the sunroof and able to proceed unobserved to the back of the dashboard. The inside of the car was removed and replaced as was the major components behind the dashboard. The airbags were not replaced.

The hydraulics that are intended to hold up the rear lift gate have failed. After opening the lift gate and leaning in to get something out of the rear of the car, the lift gate will begin to close and hit or hurt the person that is standing at the back of the car. I have not shown this to a dealer or independent service provider, but it is easily reproducible. Likewise, I have not shown this to a manufacturer, the police, or an insurance representative. There were no warning lamps regarding this issue. The problem just started happening approximately 12 months ago.
The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi lancer. The contact stated that whenever it would rain water would leak into the vehicle underneath the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle causing water to leak onto the occupants feet and onto the carpet. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who resealed the area. The failure now occurs on the driver side of the vehicle. The contact stated their appointment for the driver side had not occurred as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Purchased GMC 2017 Terrain 1 month ago today. The first week I had it the engine kept stalling while idling. I took it to the dealership for them to fix. I got it back and it seemed to run hard. 3 days later I found that not one but both key fobs would not work. The battery is brand new. When I spoke to service man at dealership, he stated that one fob was faulty and they would order a new one. I haven't heard back from them. . . Today I got into a front end collision where the air bags did not deploy causing me injury. Only after the fact did the alarm sound and dash message came on stating service airbag. The four way lights would not stay on and the interior lights would not turn off. And there was a smell of something burning. . No return call from GMC.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 GMC Terrain. The contact stated the driver's side inside door handle was fractured. The contact was concerned about cutting her hand on the door handle. The contact called penske Cadillac of south bay (18600 hawthorne blvd, torrance, CA 90504, (310) 697-1800) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 39,000.
I was making a left turn during a green light my car was in motion. A white van was speeding towards me from the drivers side going straight at me at high speed with a red light. They hit the front drivers end of my car which made my car spin out. The airbags did not deploy. The whole front end of my car was ruined.
On Feb 10, 2020 I was involved in a side impact crash when a large truck failed to stop at a red light. I took the vehicle in for repairs as the front quarter panel and wheel were damaged. The collision shop called today and stated that all four of my impact sensors are "dead". He said I was very lucky because there is no way I would've known that my airbags wouldn't have deployed and I very likely would've been seriously injured or killed. There was no warning light on the dash, and no code. They found it by accident on a more intensive diagnostic. This is scary because how many other 2012 Terrain owners won't know until one of their loved ones are injured or killed!?!? you need to do something about this. I got lucky but you have now 23 complaints about these bags not deploying. Please do something!!!.

The complaint I have is the inside front of the car is too small and I cant reach the gas pedal except with my toe. My foot keeps slipping off as I am driving. I have to have the seat way up or I cant reach. I am 5 foot tall woman. This is a ridiculous thing that I have to put up. I drove it for 10 minutes and didn't realize it. I asked for a pedal that is longer and closer to the floor after I had bought it and service people told me they don't have anything to do to fix it. They asked if I had a button to adjust it and I don't. Its on the expensive one. This should be on all vehicles for safety. I wanted to give it back but they never helped me. I have 1100 miles on it. It new still. The other thing this creates is I am up so close to the steering wheel that its almost on my chest in order to reach pedal without having to strain and later having pain in my leg from doing that. I am so disappointed with chuck nash GMC in san marcos , texas. Is there anything to be done by the GMC company. I also told the salesman I wanted a canyon pickup like I had before. I traded that one in due to the fact that the 2017 canyon was always in the shop. Only had it for 2 yrs and 1 month. They were no help! thank you, elizabeth please help me.
While pulling into a parking spot very slow the vehicle accelerated and damaged car in front there are traction marks showing the sudden acceleration. The car would not stop until the ignition was turned off. Because the cars in front were hit I placed the car in park after the ignition was turned off.

The rear hatch will fully open and then falls part way or fully without any cause. It hit me in the head and back as I was not expecting the hatch door to fall. This was obviously while the car was parked in a garage.
There is water leaking (possibly from the air conditioner) onto the floorboard of the front passenger side. This has caused mold to form and grow in the carpeting. It is constant and is getting worse.
The powered lift gate raised all the way up (as requested), then dropped unexpectedly on my wife's back and head then raised again then dropped and latched. The powered lift gate repeats this upon every request to open and will not remain open, making the rear cargo area basically useless. The lift gate is very heavy and could possibly injure someone when dropping down unexpectedly. The vehicle was parked in our garage upon the first time and the vehicle has been parked each time the lift gate was requested to open.
While checking the rear view mirror a 1998 chevy truck came tp a sudden stop on the highway, and I could not miss the truck the driver claimed he thought he had missed his turn, when my SUV collided with the truck. The powder came out but the airbags never did come out,and the passenger seatbelt locked.
During annual inspection on July 19, 2019, rust holes found in the frame. One hole was almost 2 inches in diameter. Additional perforations found near the leaf spring area. Vehicle was subject to lsc in 2014 and treated with crc compound. This just appears to have delayed the onset of the frame cancer. Toyota was notified. No support from them - they are saying it is my problem.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that their lift gate lifted on it's own. The lift gate then dropped and hit the contact's spouse. Then the lift gate lifted again. Then the contact's spouse had to hold the life gate before it struck their daughter. Finally, the lift gate closed on it's own. The contact scheduled to take the vehicle to be diagnosed next week at johnson motors 1891 blinker pkwy, dubois, PA 15801(877) 816-0659. Traveling on state highway 136 between 50 and 55mph. The listed vehicle struck a deer causing significant front end damage. Immediately following there was a very strong odor similar to gun powder. The airbag light illuminated and on star came on line in the car due to crash sensor notification. However, there was no airbag deployment. The entire front end of the car sustained damage as well as the radiator. The drivers side front quarter panel also buckled. It is unknown at this time of further damage. The vehicle sustained enough damage to where it required it to be towed to a dealership body shop for further evaluation. Based on the front end and quarter panel damage, there should have been an airbag deployment. The listed vehicle is the only vehicle involved with the collision. The georgia state patrol investigated and completed a crash report.
To whom it may concern: please note that I have observed my vehicle a profound amount of water entering the vehicle somewhere within, at, or in vicinity of the front passenger side of the vehicle and driver's side (front). This occurs during rain-fall. My vehicle began displaying an odor and showing white-yellowish colored matter in the carpet area. The water is now developed into a puddle on the passenger - side and carpet soaked on the driver's side (the lost of footing on the driver's side, makes it sometimes difficult when driving, and shifting my foot from the accelerator to (and) braking (to steer, and performing turning maneuvers). I have researched and noted several consumer chat pages, in which consumers have discussions experiencing the problem of water leaking into their GMC Terrain, and other GMC vehicles.
I bought the vechile in Feb. 2016 ran fine. In June of 2016. The vechile started acting like it had water in the gas hesitateing stalling and the radio and touch screen don't work took it to a dealer and he said had ater in fuel put I a new senors. But still doing the same thing stalling when coming to stop signs hesitates not going into to gear took it to gm dealer in new richmond and they hook up to a computer said nothing wrong when vechile dose it again bring it in don't turn it off thats hard to do because you have to start it up again to drive it their know today the radio is off and touchscreen don't come on I am just scared because we take our son to rochester three days a week for therpy help.
My granddaughter and I were parked outside a grocery store. We came out with several bags and my granddaughter opened the back lift gate. It went up and then came back down again. It didn't stay up. I tried to open it again with my key and it did the same thing. Went up, hesitated and came back down again. I stopped opening the gate and put bags inside. I took her home then drove home myself. I showed my husband what the back gate was doing. I called the Ford dealer I bought my Terrain from last year (February 2017) and got appointment for service today. The Ford service called the Chevrolet service and referred me to them for service. I took the car to the Chevrolet dealer who checked if my car was on any recall, she said the VIN was not included in any recalls, but we bought an extended warranty which may cover the costs. However, I have to pay the first $200 of any service repairs. I don't believe the back gate should stop working when the rest of my car works fine. Is there anything I can do to get help to repair my car's back gate?.
I pulled into our carport. It felt like the car just "sped up and went faster and faster. " it hit the front of the car straight on. No airbags deployed nor did the front end collision stop happen.
Transmission problems. While on a slight incline, car would not go into reverse . Forward acceleration was very sludgiest. Corrosion on passenger side door.

Purchased a 2014 GMC Terrain certified from a dealer and it had visible rust on drivers side rear passenger door hem. It was taken to abra auto body shop and worked on 3 times with the rust coming right back through only after 7 days. It was seamed and sealed for a final time and the auto body shop even admitted it will not stop the rust and recommends a new door shell. How can a car only 2 yrs 10 months old have this bad of rust? other 3 doors have very light spots and front end fender panels as well. Husband also purchased a 2013 Terrain and it has same issues.
The back hatch of my 2013 GMC Terrain has perforating corrosion and the dealership (white's mountain, casper, wy) won't repair it and neither will general motors despite it still being under warranty.
The rear door air lift will not stay open when you press the button. On 2 occasions I hit my head because I did not know it had dropped down when I was loading and unloading groceries. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot and in my garage. It was not running. I found an entire page on the internet of many people having the same issues. It is called the Terrain forum. Net . This is very dangerous because some people have said they have had them dead fall. People could be injured or killed by the force of this door coming down on their heads. GMC has recalls on this problem with some of their other calls but not the GMC Terrain. . Read more...
