1 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Tires were purchased sept. 25, 2009 and now have extensive weather cracking. Costco refused to replace the tires when I reported the quality defect in August, 2014, just 59 months after purchase. I have appealed that decision and expect to find out tomorrow if they will make good on the defective tires. They claim that although there is weather cracking that the tires are safe. I doubt they would use cracked tires like that on the vehicle carrying their own family.

2 Tire problem

Firestone tire tread seperation steeltex radial r4s, lt245/75r16, manufacture dated 36 month 2001, with 16000 miles of wear. Handling difficulty at low and mid speeds. Replaced tire and have the defective one.

Inconsistent tire wear on 2001 Yukon xl, the front tire wear along the inner sides (2 inches) faster the remaining portion of the tire. Tires are stock firestone 265r16 size. The front end alignment was check several time by gm deal and by third party. Every time the alignment was with in specs. The tire have been rotated every 10,000 miles to increase usability. Tires failed at 62000 miles. This is the second Yukon I have owned with the same problem.

5 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2001

11:45am on 8/27/01 tire separation occurred at 60 mph on PA rte 476s, mile marker 14. Contacted gm who could care less; they did not record the incident even though I tried to report it; they told me to contact firestone and that it was not gm's problem; called firestone and all they cared about was whether it was an at wildnerness tire; firestone told me to go to a local dealer for assistance. I am scared to death to drive this car at high speed again. What should I do? (dot number: 8x72 5000 tiresize: p265/70r16).

6 Tire problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2001

I was exiting the 5 freeway northbound onto the 55 north when my carred suddenly tilted to the left severely. I did not jerk back the wheel and it stratightened itself out. I pulled over and I had a flat left rear tire. I drove to the dealer and told them iw wanted new tires (my wife had previously requested new tires. They refused,, iwent to costco bought new michellens . Costco filled my flat and they could not get the tire to leak. It looked perfect and near new. (dot number: 8x72wlt tiresize: 26570r16).

7 Tire problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2001

Shortly after purchase of brand new vehicle, consumer took it back to dealer due to a vibration and rumbling sound that was coming from the firestone wilderness le tires, size p265/70r16, dot 8x72wl2, service manager refused to replace tires unless there is a material defect in the tires.

8 Tire problem

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the wheel bearings were bad and the vehicle also needed tires.

9 Tire problem

Was sold new vehicle with p265 tires. GMC says the dealer can put any tire he wants on the vehicle, the dealer didn't know it states in owners manual don't use tire chais with p265 tires. See page 6-52 Yukon 2001 owners manual. I have filed a complaint with GMC #c05410969. I feel it is a serious condition for a dealer to be able to sell a vehicle with p265 tires without having to at least worn buyer that they can not use snow chains on p265. I really feel this is a dangerous dealer selling practice. Note: > this applies to all GMC pickup's and SUV's.
