1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle experienced independent deceleration and the reduced engine power warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was previously taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump, spark plugs, transmission, and alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and transferred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2010

Vehicle stalls while in motion. Figured out it may be running out of gas due to the gauge not working. Now, it stalls when it only has a half a tank of gas, not completely empty. Put 16 gallons of gas in the 30 gallon tank, truck runs smooth. Replaced the fuel filter twice. Replaced the battery, tested the alternator, results no alt. Problem. Check engine light on, speedometer is off, gas gauge is off, and the rear view mirror display lights go on and off erratically. Biggest problem is when I break the truck will shut off. This has been going on since Nov. 2010, when we replaced the battery and quit using a certain type of gas it seemed to be fine. Now, it is acting up and today was the first incident since early December.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2007

Speedometer reading as much as 50mph over actual speed, causing safety issue. Other gauges occasionally showing incorrect values (fuel, alternator, etc).

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2007

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that everytime he activated his left turn signal, the hazard warning lights would illuminate. Secondly, the gauges on the instrument control panel were inoperative. Thirdly, the battery constantly failed without warning. Lastly, when switching gears on the vehicle, the contact heard a loud knocking noise. He took the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions and a technician replaced the battery and alternator twice, and the entire instrument control panel as well. Even after all of the repairs were made, the electrical failures still persist. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 33,000 and current mileage was 47,400.
