While driving on an interstate highway at 70 mph I experience a total tire failure whereas the middle 4 inches of the tread/belt area of my bf goodrich lt245/75 r 16 lre m+s commercial t/a all season bf11 jd11 4011 tire completely separated from the tire's core, resulting in the remainder of the tire's tread/belt to continue stripping away causing significant wheel well, rear quarter panel, gas tub, and electrical harness damage to my 2005 Yukon xl 2500. Tires had just passed a nc safety inspection, were properly inflated with 38,000 miles on them.
Was driving about 30mph and hit the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floor and we ran into a trailer. The brake lines were rusted so bad that they busted, and caused the brake fluid to leak out. The estimate to repair the brake lines alone is $2800.
Basically my lift gate and glass are stuck in the lock position and there is no manual way to open the lift gate. This has to be a safety issue and GMC should issue a recall on the lock actuator to replace them all with a replacement part to ensure no one gets stuck inside there vehicle. This part along with installation can run you up to $1k so I can see people ignoring this problem until it becomes a public concern. I wish GMC would fix it before someone really gets hurt.
I had driven my Yukon for roughly a year when the passenger side rear glass hinge broke. It caused a leak and I have been in fear of the back glass coming loose or breaking during driving. My research has led me to several stories of the same problem leaving glass on roads, carwashes, and even on following vehicles, causing damage. Gm expects me to pay over $1000 to replace the glass. A redesigned glass which leads me to believe they know of the problem and refuse to help fix it.
