I have a 2005 GMC Yukon. The liftgate and liftgate window both will not unlock and open. The rest of the doors and locks are fine. These can only be opened from the outside, not from the inside. This is a serious safety issue for my family, especially my 4 year old who rides in the back. If there were ever and emergency we would not be able to escape from the rear of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon xl 1500. The contact stated the rear lift hatch would not open. The dealer advised that the latch mechanism often would become stuck and could not be opened from the exterior of the vehicle with the keys. The dealer advised the failure could be repaired at the contacts expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 77,000.
