My driver side back glass (quarter panel long glass) spontaneously exploded this morning with my young child in her car seat. No one was nearby, the car was in park. Nothing caused the glass to break it just randomly occurred.
Dashboard is severely cracked & rattles so badly that it interferes with hearing outside & inside noises & communication. Has gotten worse over past year. Dealer confirmed that the problem was prevalent among several gm models, including my model. I was also told that a class action suit was filed against GMC for this problem, but was dismissed by judicial system.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC yukoin the contact stated that the dashboard and air bag compartment was cracked. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 220,000. Ap.
The dash above the gauge cluster has a huge crack and there is also another crack by the passenger side airbag. I noticed it when I started the vehicle after it had been parked all night in my driveway. There is no other damage to the vehicle.
The interior door handle chrome is peeling off, and it cut my wife's hand today. There are 3 of the 4 doors that have it peeling, and I am worried one of my children will cut there fingers also.
We have owned this vehicle for 4 months. There is a crack beginning over the instrument panel on the drivers side (the beginnings are there as well as being able to see the crack under the surface of the dashboard) and on the dashboard into the airbag compartment on the passenger side. The vehicle was not moving when we noticed the cracks. We went to crank the vehicle one morning and noticed them.
Interior door handles - chrome plating is peeling away from plastic underneath on the front passenger handle. This peeling chrome cuts flesh. It has been recalled on 'some' 2007 models, however, since this is causing injury I believe it should be recalled/replaced on all models with chrome plated handles that incur this problem. It should not matter the year/make/model of the vehicle. This is a defect across the board.
Driver side power door locks work intermittently. Horn sounds indicating door is locked however it doesn't lock. Also remote start does work leaving vehicle a target for theft. Also three of four of the exterior door handles broke and had to be replaced.
Driver door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door lock/unlock button on the door. This creates a safety concern.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the automatic door lock failed intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the front, rear driver's side and the rear passenger's side door actuators would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
The door handles have separated from the vehicle.
Problems with power door locks. Had it with our 2000 Yukon, my 1999 sierra, and now our 2008. The 12 volt motor which drives the locks up and down via a screwjack fails. No logical way to just change the motor. The entire assy. Must be replaced @ $153 my nearest dealer. 2nd door to fail on the 2008. Assy is stamped "made in china". This is a recurring problem and should be on a recall.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked the drivers side exterior handle became detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the door handle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred with the drivers side rear as well as the front passengers side exterior handles. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Sw.
Chrome over plastic is coming off or peeling and this problem resulted in several people having their fingers cut while opening the door. The chrome covering where it has peeled is like a razor blade when pressure is applied to unlatch the door.
