When beginning to drive forward after coming to a stop at an intersection. The vehicle will often stall in the middle of the intersection. Requiring me to switch it transmission into natural and restart it as it’s rolling. I almost gotten rear ended many times I always get honked at. It just a matter of time before it causes an accident. It sometime happens after turning as well. I looked at forums on this GMC Yukon hybrid. And it looks like many other owners are asking the same question and nobody is coming up with any answers. Other customers say the dealer told them the hesitation is normal. I took my truck into a local repair shop and he called me after three weeks saying it was done, but it still had the check engine light on and still is stalling out in intersections. Charge me $2000. This has been happening daily since I got the vehicle.
My driver side back glass (quarter panel long glass) spontaneously exploded this morning with my young child in her car seat. No one was nearby, the car was in park. Nothing caused the glass to break it just randomly occurred.
Large dashboard cracks near airbags. Apparently widespread problem among gm products. I do not know if this will affect airbag safety or not. No incident involved yet.
The vehicle suddenly and without warning, shut down while it was being driven down the road. Dashboard was off and it coasted to a stop. Fortunately it was on a city road with very little traffic (but this vehicle is driven on the highway frequently). Once it was put in park, the key was turned, it immediately started again and ran perfectly.
The hatch door will not stay open in cold weather. Even at a temperature in the 60's, it opens and then closes and is very forcefully, even knocked me in the head and kept shutting. It is always stationary and only in cooler weather, all other times it works correctly.
I have a 2008 GMC Yukon slt that I bought in Feb of 2015 with 94,000 miles. I have serviced it regularly from day 1 and even paid it off in 2. 5 years. As soon as I paid it off, the very next month, my engine started making a weird noise once in a while w/ no check engine light so no one could tell what was wrong. At that same time my "service stabilitrak/service traction control" would ding about 40 times in a row. I serviced the 2 and it did not help for more than 2 days and it started again. This time the check engine light came on codes were for new plugs and fuel filter. Still didn't help. Then my engine blew! got that replaced and it still to this day is doing same thing! so, like the 330 others, we have a major safety issue that no one cares to address, and I'm done trying! if this man are having the same issue it's a gm issue! I'm copying the NHTSA and my atty general for help. Please click this link and read 330 complaints about the same exact thing and youtube has people actually stuck bc their car died. Mine did not ever die but it sure feels like it is and . It happens every single time I drive my Yukon! please help us! I'm on unemployment and cannot afford anymore repairs. . Read more...
The vehicle caught fire while parked and ignition turned off. Fire appeared to start in the engine area. Vehicle had been parked and turned off for approx 1. 5 to 2 hours before the fire was reported.
Driving down the highway back window shattered into a million little pieces.
Cpsc:I have a 2008 GMC Yukon denali with 80k miles. All 4 exterior door handles are broken because of a manufacturers defect which has been recalled in previous years. The doors will close and lock the passengers in the car on occasion and could cause a serious safety hazard in an emergency. Also the interior of each door handle is coated with a "chrome" surface covering that peels back and has incredibly sharp edges which have cut all 5 of my family members, this is also a known issue with denali's and has been recalled in the past.
My 2008 GMC Yukon was parked in my uncovered driveway. I remote started in from inside to the house to warm up the engine. About 2 minutes later, I went outside and got in the truck, placed keys in ignition and turned it over. It got down in the mid-30's last night, so there was a thin layer of frost on all windows. I turned on the front windshield defroster. I did not turn the back one on as the exhaust fumes from the tailpipe were melting the frost on the back window. I had been sitting in the car for approx 3-4 minutes when I heard a very loud boom and glass shattering. I looked back and could see that my back window had exploded. Shards of tempered glass were all over the pavement and inside the back area of the truck.
I went to open my drivers side door to get into my car and the door handle just ripped off. I could not believe it. I'm not a strong woman and I did nothing different then any other day. Now I have to climb through the passenger side and open my door till I can get it fixed. About a year ago I had my back door handle come loose. It did not rip off, but it was not functional. I had to pay to get it fixed. One little thing after another with this car.
While parked in a parking lot, was loading the vehicle with groceries and could not get the back left door closed, was very unsafe could not drive the vehicle like that, now the drivers side door on the left side is doing the same thing, very expensive to fix, was told the rubber was defective around both doors and the latches were rusted what would have happened if the door flew off and hit someone on the highway? who would be responsible? I think this issue should have definitely been on a safety recall, now of course, the warranty had expired.
Interior door handles - chrome plating is peeling away from plastic underneath on the front passenger handle. This peeling chrome cuts flesh. It has been recalled on 'some' 2007 models, however, since this is causing injury I believe it should be recalled/replaced on all models with chrome plated handles that incur this problem. It should not matter the year/make/model of the vehicle. This is a defect across the board.
When traveling on a very busy interstate, I backed off the gas and went to accelerate when my vehicle went to reduced engine power. Thankfully, the car made it to the next exit which had a gm dealer. They replaced the acceleration petal position sensor. The car was purchased new in March 2008. This issue happened the first time in March 2012. 2 years later in March 2014, this issue happened again. The same part was replaced. We contacted Chevrolet and filed a formal complaint. We were told they would probably not do anything, it's scary that a gas pedal has been replaced I a vehicle twice in 6 years.
Power lock failure on 2008 GMC Yukon, occuring one @ a time over aprox 1 year. 3 year old seated in rear seat able to open door while vehicle moving as a result of door not locking when locked engaged with power locks switch.
