Noticed the dash cracking by the air bag in September 2020 and now is cracking on driver side hump behind steering wheel.

I work in a dealership and purchased my vehicle used in April 2016. At the time it had small cracks that extended from the dash airbags about 1" or so towards the windshield. The cracks are now quite large. If the airbags were to deploy, the plastic from the dash would also become airborne. This has become a serious safety concern to myself while driving as well as anyone who may sit in the front seat, including my grandchildren. These cracks are now about 1/4" in width and about 3" long and extend from the edge of the airbag and end at the defogger vents under the windshield. I feel that this is something that gm should be concerned about as well. It would be to gm's advantage to take care of this now, rather than wait until the unthinkable happens. Takata recall is my only complaint. To date, gm has not remedied this problem gm says my vehicle is safe to drive but I guarantee the ceo of gm is not riding around in a vehicle that could cause serious bodily injury or death.

I am concerned of the safety of me and my passengers. Over 1 year and still no resolution. I keep on being told call back and call back. Why so long to replace? the dash board has cracked and broken due to poor quality and many owners have dashboard issues.

Airbag service light is on, oil pressure fluctuation occurs and the vehicle pulls to the left when applying brakes after new brake pads and rotors were installed.

I purchased my vehicle used. Its the same problem so many others are having. My dashboard is cracked on both drivers and passengers side all the way to the airbag. We have extremely concerned that if the airbag goes off, that whoever is driving or a passenger will get hit with pieces of plastic from the dash causing serious injury. I could keep passengers out of the front, but the driver I cannot. . We need to have this repaired. I work at a Honda dealership and have been advised that this is a safety concern. Pax side had a small crack when purchased but it is now about 3 inches long each. .

Takata recall does not have a remedy for the defect. My car is 8 years old and parked outside in los angeles. Therefore, receives a lot of sun which is noted to cause the air bag damage.

Takata recall � I see from airbagrecall. Com that there is an active recall on my vehicle since may 27, 2016 and I just received a notice via snail mail from tk holdings. I called chuck nash auto group in san marcos, TX at 512-396-7881 and mrs. Victoria told me that they have no information from gm on my case. Nothing happened to my vehicle as of now but the airbag icon light on the dashboard is flashing each time I turn the engine on. Can I have a free checkup and eventually a free replacement? thank you.

Takata recall. We have been attempting to have the airbags replaced by GMC since being notified of the recall and were told they were not available yet to keep checking back. On 10/25/2017 schumacher GMC stated they will never be able to repair or replace the airbags and that it decreases the trade in value by $6000-$7000 because they cannot certify the vehicle. We fear for our safety driving this vehicle and has financially restricted us from moving forward on purchasing a new vehicle.

Takata airbag: this airbag issue was supposed to be resolved by August 2017 and it has not been. Mean while I am still driving with a potentially dangerous airbag.

There has yet to be an offer to repair the defective airbags in our family vehicle. Other owners with the same issue are being sent notices to discontinue use by not allowing anyone to sit in the front passenger seat and to get it repaired immediately, and yet there is no such action for our family vehicle. We demand a repair be made available immediately. The vehicle is not safe and we can not fit our entire family in it without someone sitting in the passenger seat.

I have called to get appointment for new air bags 2 years ago and they keep putting me off , my local GMC dealer will not fix my air bags.

The dashboard which is made of hard plastic is cracking near and touching the passenger air bag. It will cause shards of thick hard plastic to be projected into the passenger compartment if the airbag deploys. Also large pieces will also be interjected into the passenger compartment in the case of any accident because they are loose.

Takata recall. . . I looked up my vehicle VIN number when the recall came out and my car was not included in the recall. I have been driving the vehicle for almost a year since and have now taken it to trade in on a new car. The dealership tells me it is part of the takata recall and since the recall is unrepairable and is a fatal recall they will scrap the car. My dash is cracked in 2 places. It is cracked on the driver side in front of the steering wheel. The crack is about 3 inches long. The other one is on the passenger side goes all the way to the upper left corner of the passenger side aribag. The whole dash rattles now when driving down the road. I am concerned about my family's safety since they are right on the passenger air bag and over the steering column.
