2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

At parking lot speeds, there have been many incedents of brake failure, when pressing pedal to stop pedal pulsates and becomes very hard to stop the Yukon. There seems to be a vacume or booster issue. Yukon will be fine for days then reaccure when slowing at stop sign or waitng at red light and moving foward in slow traffic to sign or llight and then in happens again. Scary and unreliable when using brakes at low speed intersections or continous stop and go's.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

At low idle speeds like in a parking lot we almost hit another car because the brakes were very hard to press. No power brakes. Felt as I was having to stand on the brake pedal with both feet to stop my vehicle from hitting another car at a grocery store parking lot going 5 mph! a light flashes on and says”service brake assist “ light goes away and drives normal and brakes normal except when you get to a stop sign, or traffic light. This happens a few times and I’m not driving the car because of it because I might hit someone.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

Yukon break tail lamp problems. Brake lights work intermittently. Very dangerous! the break lights will work intermittently and then work. This was an issue with the 2016 models and gm issues a recall. There is no recall for 2017 which I don't understand because nothing has changed with the manufacturing process. I researched and there is a class action but in California only.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2025

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my 2017 GMC Yukon xl related to the brake vacuum pump. According to recall information (NHTSA recall n192268490), certain 2015-2017 GMC Yukon and Yukon xl vehicles are equipped with a defective vacuum pump that may decrease in output over time. This defect reduces power brake assist, resulting in increased braking effort, a hard brake pedal, and extended stopping distances. These conditions significantly increase the risk of a crash. I have experienced symptoms consistent with this issue, including vibrating brake pedal with no slippage, a hard pedal, ticking noises from the engine, a 'service brake assist' warning message, and difficulty braking. This issues usually occur under 10 mph. These problems compromise the vehicle’s braking performance and pose a direct threat to the safety of myself, my passengers, and other road users.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

Brake pedal gets hard and will not allow vehicle to stop. Intermittent issue, but caused vehicle to hit gate. Same situation occurred later that same week and vehicle almost rolled through major highway crossing.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2025

The pump in the power-assist brakes puts out less vacuum power than needed, increasing stopping distance and the risk of a crash. My car rolls and doesn't stop. I have new brakes so this is unacceptable!!.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

This has been going on for a while now, but it’s getting worse overtime. If I push on my brakes more than twice the brake pedal locks up and I have to push extremely hard to get my vehicle stopped. . Luckily I have never been going fast and had to worry about this. This is normally when I am pulling into a parking spot or I am backing up that I have to tap on my brakes a few times. A couple of times I have bumped the pole in front of my parking spot due to not having brakes. I just put in a general date as to when they started to get worse.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2025

I have a 2017 Yukon. There is a recall on this model already for a vacuum pump that decreases the power brake assist. My vehicle is having this exact issue. The back tire sounds like the compressor is always running and when braking it grinds at the pedal like a vibration and doesn’t want to stop immediately. I need my vehicle added to the recall list so I can get it repaired.

I was told by a mechanic that they other GMC vehicles have had recalls on this, but mine is not showing one. 2. )the suspension on this vehicle has never worked properly. It rides extremely rough. It has some special suspension in it from a shock perspective, but it feels as if it often fails. 3. ) I had to replace the torque converter in this vehicle last year, and the fluid that runs through it. Tail brake light failure the tail brake lights have gone out on a vehicle that isn't 10 years old yet. Tail lights should not go out this quickly and the dealership will kindly replace them at $1300 per tail light. This is absolutely absurd! it is available for inspection. This definitely puts myself and others at risk! yes, this problem has been confirmed and inspected by a GMC dealer. Advised this is a very common problem with this vehicle. There are no warning lamps or messages to alert when the brake lights have gone out. Instrument cluster failure the instrument cluster is also faulty in this truck. This is the 2nd time within a year that I have had issues with this. Safety concern is that you will not know if the vehicle is running hot because the gauges stop working. Also runs the battery down as the fan continues to run for about 10 minutes after the vehicle is turned off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed and inspected by a dealer. Advised that this is a very common problem with this vehicle. No, there are no warning lamps or messages to alert you of the problem. I purchased a 2017 GMC Yukon denali brand new off the showroom floor. I have maintained the services thru GMC dealership. I had to replace the struts and rear and front shocks due to hydraulic system leaking and locking up my brakes and causing extra pressure on my braking system to stop my vehicle. This cost me over $5000 to replace out of my pocket and I saw there was a previous recall in 2019 for similar problem but I was told my issues were not covered under the recall. I have also had to replace both taillights within 2years of purchasing my brand new vehicle and now they are out again. This will be my second time having to replace the led tail lights that cost over $375 light which were stated as never go out of lifetime guarantee. You cannot just replace the bulb you have to replace the whole tail light which takes weeks to come in and then additional labor costs. The previous.

The brakes stop working. Brake assist comes on. When I press the brakes you can feel the pump is not working at all. This needs to be fixed ASAP- dangerous to drive my children around in a car where the brakes just stop working.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2020

I took my car to GMC because I live on a hill and when I park my car then put it into drive or reverse the brakes don't function properly. The brakes slide and skip and the vehicle has a very hard time stopping. It happens while putting the car into park on any hill, then putting it back into gear. It also happen when driving a slow speed on flat ground. GMC found the problem and stated it's under a special coverage warranty #n182202780-01. I've almost had it towed multiple times because I was afraid to continue driving, I'd have to go extremely slow down hills in fear the brakes wouldn't be able to hold me back if I gained speed. GMC doesn't know when the part will be in and states they won't provide a rental car. I am pregnant, so if I get in a crash going 5mph, it doesn't matter, I'll still have to get checked by a doctor. I'm an essential worker and still needing to have a daily vehicle. I don't understand how there is a found/known brake problem and they are telling me it's safe to drive when there was been over 100 accidents. They need to provide a rental car and fix it.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

The latest issue began when driving on the highway, I noticed that the brake pedal would bounce when trying to slow down at highway speeds. I didn't think much of it. Exactly 2 days later, while approaching traffic at a red light at relatively low speeds, the vehicle would not stop. I tried to push the pedal, the pedal would go all the way down like it had no pressure. Luckily there was not oncoming traffic and I was able to swerve onto the left lane and finally into a parking lot where I was able to park using the emergency brake. My vehicle had recently been serviced for the vacuum pump recall since my brakes would become hard to push but only when moving at very low speeds like in heavy traffic or in a drive through service. I am concerned about the issue surfacing for a third time when I have my family in the vehicle.
