6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

2004 Yukon xl with 91,880 miles. Replacement left front wheel bearing/hub failed catastrophically at 6,046 miles of service. The bearing separated completely leading to a towing event. Vehicle was on an interstate highway and traveling at 70 mph, in a straight line when this occurred. Service technician said the drive shaft on the 4wd vehicle was the only thing retaining the wheel. The prior bearing was replaced at 85,878 miles. The bearing was installed at at aftermarket service center. The hub face has the following numbers etched on it. 730-0093, 12fr18107. When I look this up it appears to be a bearing made by gnb.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/23/2020

While driving the stabilitrak off light flashed on the dashboard, including the traction control off. This has shut down my car on the highway 4 times. Oddly, when I took it to the dealership, it would reset itself and the codes would go away temporarily. The dealership recommended to change the engine control module and cables, which I did on 7/17/20 and 7/31/20. However, on my last trip I had to get towed back to my home on 09/01/20 for the same reason as I was stranded on a highway on the way to a funeral for a family friend. This is so dangerous. I can't let my wife or kids use the vehicle because this happens so randomly. The repair shop says that it is a mystery to them as they have called their GMC specialty technicians for advice. My car is currently at the dealership again for the past two weeks as they try to find a solution. I just bought this car 3 months ago and this is upsetting. I finally went online to see if I could possible find a fix to recommend and found that this is a known issue I found similar stories on this website "car forums/ GMC/ GMC envoy xl" . I am surprised this not a recall. I have paid over $1,500 in repairs. Changed sensors on tires that suspect weren't the issue since the indicator light still comes on. I work for state farm insurance and I am aware of the dangers of having hazardous cars on the road. I also work closely with the institutes of highway saftey and they recommended that I log this complaint. Here is my email address and phone number. 434-466-4926 dwjosh18@gmail. Com. How can I get this logged as a recall and get my money back for repairs or the price of the vehicle, if GMC can't guarantee a repair? I have attached the cable and engine control module repair invoices that verify the complaint. I have pictures and videos of the indicator lights flashing and the car shutting off.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/19/2020

While driving at approximately 65 mph on a highway, the locks engaged, the radio shut down, power steering was lost, and the vehicle slowed down/braked on it's own. Thankfully we were able to move to the side of the road without getting hit. The only message on the dash was "service stabilitrack. " the dealer and an independent mechanic have been unable to replicate the error message.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/10/2020

Codes p1516, p2135, and p0120 have returned for a third time. I was driving and my car went into reduced power mode. Luckily, I was just a mile away from home and limped my car home. I've since cleaned the mass air flow sensor and throttle body. I've changed out the tps and acceleration sensor. I've checked all my grounds and these codes keep coming back. I've noticed other people having this same issues which is why I did the steps listed above. I've taken it to a mechanic who said that I did every step they've would have done to troubleshoot this problem. Someone from gm needs to this issue, as I am not the only one that this is occurring to.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

Loss of power steering, loss of electronic stability control, loss of all transmission gears forward and reverse, loss of automatic headlight control, loss of instrument cluster gauges including tachometer, engine oil pressure, and engine coolant temperature, loss of heated seat functionality, loss of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and loss of infotainment/stereo system. This problem has occurred on two occasions now, the first on 01/13/2020 and then again on 02/20/2020. The vehicle was towed in to the dealer on 01/13/2020 and was also transported to the same dealership again on 02/20/2020. A TSB was performed by the dealership when it was towed in the first time that obviously did not fix the root cause of this problem. Normally the problem will go away after a period of time and then the dealership claims that they were not able to reproduce the customer's complaint. I do have video footage of the issues I experienced on two occasion as proof.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

I was driving with my vehicle in auto 4wd, because we had icy roads. My vehicles rear drive slipped on some ice and then I got a message indicating my stabilizer system was needing work, then the electrical system (instrumentation dash) started to flash on and off. I pulled off the road and turned off my vehicle and then tried to restart it and it would not start. I tried a 2nd time and it started, put it in gear and started back out on the road. My electrical system started to go crazy all of the sudden, all the lights started to flash, my power doors started to lock and unlock simultaneously, the engine started to accelerate its rpm's, and down/up shifting my gears, my dash board instruments started flashing, heating and air conditioning fan was speeding up and slowing down, then turning on and off. I thought my vehicle was possessed by a demon really putting a scare in me. I was scared that it was going to accelerate and I was not in control at all, so I immediately pulled off the road and turned the vehicle off. It would not restart once again, on my 3rd attempt it started. I put it in gear and it went good. I think the instrumentation flashed maybe one or two times, but overall it was driving, thank god, because is was cold out and I was in a rural area. Four days later I drove my vehicle to work, went out to take it to lunch and it would not start, nothing would work, completely dead. I had it towed to shottenkirk Chevrolet in quincy, IL, which is where it is awaiting the diagnostic report. 1/16/2020. I cannot tell you enough, the whole ordeal scared the living daylights out of me.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/07/2020

Brakes were not 100% responsive starting in summer 2019; vacuum pump was replaced pursuant to recall in late 2019 and software error related to braking was addressed by dealer in January 2020. Customer stated to dealer that brakes are still not 100% responsive, and that brakes will pulse a few times when pressed and before the vehicle actually starts to stop. Dealer refused to consider that existing issues with last two recalls in 2019 related to brakes could be causing non-responsive brakes.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

When opening the hatch or back of the vehicle, the lights will go on and off and the vehicle will not start up. You have to wait for 5 minutes sometimes longer for the engine to restart. The vehicle will be in stationary, I have to turn the vehicle off if I am going to open the back if I don't it messes up all the gages in front and will not operate.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2020 GMC Yukon

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/12/2019

Under normal driving the vehicle will go into "reduced engine power" mode while saying service stabilitrak and stabilitrak off. Give the code referencing a 5a reference. I have replaced the ecm 2x, the accelerator pedal assembly, throttle body entire, high pressure fuel sensor problem continues without remedy. Has happened to many times to count starting in Dec 2008 to present.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/31/2019

Happened two times yesterday. 2007 Yukon denali odometer: 191,707 engine hours: 1443. 9 first, stabilitrak control turned off and engine power was reduced illuminated on the message center of the dash board. Car would not accelerate above 20 mph. When I would try to push the gas petal there would be a shutter in the rear of the vehicle. I was able to put the car in park, turn it off and tried restarting. Same issues continued. I limped to my work a less than a mile away to try and figure out what was happening as I had myself and 4 kids in the car after trick or treating. I shut off the car and waited for a bit while I read online what was causing this. Upon restarting the car, it started working again as normal. Safety risk when you can't accelerate past 20 mph on a 45 mile per hour road. Second occurance was a few hours later. I turned the car on to leave and the same things happened, this time it was driving like I had lost my power steering and no engine power. Luckily, again, I was in a spot to pull off to the side, turn the car off and made it home okay. This car has a brand new engine. Upon reading here and some other things online it seems the stabilitrak has numberous reports of this same thing. Luckily I have been in a spot where it didn't become dangerous and I knew what to do based on reading here. I use my Yukon for work so can't have this happening and it's dangerous for myself, my kids and other drivers on the road if they happen to be behind me when it happens. Hopefully with enough complaints something can be done to fix this issue. I have included a pic of the symbol that illuminated on my dashboard when this happened.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/22/2019

Was driving and stabilization got turned turned off. The engine power got reduced. Decreasing the car's power dramatically then eventually not drivable. This is very very dangerous because was driving on the freeway. I was fortunate enough to make a smooth lane change to the side to stop the car. But if I couldn't and there was a lot of cars, this would of caused a massive accident. I feel from my research, GMC should be responsible and fix this! very angry because it had happened twice now!!!.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/20/2019

The electric power steering assist may fail momentarily and then suddenly function again. This can cause difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing risk of a crash. Although there is a recall which describes exactly what is happening recall 18v586000 the dealer says there is no recall for my vehicle at low speeds when I back up or turn I lose power momentarily then it comes back.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

No matter how many times I get my brakes fixed there is always the break and the air brake lights that appear. I have changed to sensors, fuses and still it remains. Every mechanic tells me that no matter what the brake and air brake lights will appear. That needs to be a recall. Seeing any type of warning lights drives me crazy if there is nothing wrong with my brakes then there should be no warnings.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

Engine shuts off, steering assist disappears and steering wheel is jerked out of my hand, stabilitrak warnings on dash, hvac screen goes blank, chimes start going off. This occurred as I was pulling into a parking lot and I almost hit another car. The vehicle was moving at no more than 10mph.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Intermittent electrical issues. Doors locks and windows don't always work. Sometimes when I shut my car off it dies. Like I can't turn it back on. Running boards don't go up, can't lock it, nothing. Dead. Then 15 minutes later it's fine. Sometimes when driving, it's like it's cutting out, not getting enough power or different warning lights will randomly flash. I just never know when it's going to be working properly. I'm just afraid something will happen while we are driving. We also use the Yukon to tow a trailer. I need to be able to depend on it. The shop can never duplicate the issue and they just look at me like I'm crazy.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/22/2019

This is the second complaint that I have made to NHTSA. The first time, the vehicle was spontaneously turning off and shutting down during backing in and turns causing a safety issue. This resulted in a recall, and a "software update" that was done twice to correct the issue. Right and back passenger lights began to blink on and off and water gets into the brake light. The dealer told me this was m issue. This time the 4wd service light came and the car appeared to be stuck in "4wd low" making it "drag" at a reduced speed when driving. Also, the "service trailer brake" light came on repeatedly. I have never used the trailer brake. I took it into an authorized dealer, sellers GMC in farmington hills, mi. They told me I needed a new "module", so I paid to have that done. Within one day the same service lights came on again. "service 4 wd" and "service trailer brake. " I immediately took the vehicle back and am now being told it needs another software update and a new trailer brake transfer switch. Quite frankly, I believe that this model has significant, unaddressed computer software issues and the dealer does not know who to fix it. The car is unsafe because it spontaneously stops working appropriately during driving. The concerns have been various and always seem to affect steering, when turning or backing in. I am being charged for various control panels and modules. I am requesting that this concern gets addressed before there is a serious injury. I would like my vehicle fixed and returned to a safe condition. I was never told upon purchase, that this model would require so many "software" updates to remain safe. This should not be a burden placed on a consumer for a vehicle to operate safely. This is dangerous.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

About a month a ago my 2003 Yukon xl all of a sudden would not drive over15 miles an hr in rush hour traffic. I took the truck to the shop to have diagnostics ran. I was told it was the battery. The truck ran for about a month then all of a sudden the battery was back dead. Returned the truck back to the shop another battery was put in. It's been about another month. This time I was driving from miami to jacksonville and the truck lost power 100 miles outside jacksonville on I-95 north. It had all power just would not crank. Had it towed to the shop now I'm being to there's a problem with electrical.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/02/2018

I have a 2008 GMC Yukon slt that I bought in Feb of 2015 with 94,000 miles. I have serviced it regularly from day 1 and even paid it off in 2. 5 years. As soon as I paid it off, the very next month, my engine started making a weird noise once in a while w/ no check engine light so no one could tell what was wrong. At that same time my "service stabilitrak/service traction control" would ding about 40 times in a row. I serviced the 2 and it did not help for more than 2 days and it started again. This time the check engine light came on codes were for new plugs and fuel filter. Still didn't help. Then my engine blew! got that replaced and it still to this day is doing same thing! so, like the 330 others, we have a major safety issue that no one cares to address, and I'm done trying! if this man are having the same issue it's a gm issue! I'm copying the NHTSA and my atty general for help. Please click this link and read 330 complaints about the same exact thing and youtube has people actually stuck bc their car died. Mine did not ever die but it sure feels like it is and . It happens every single time I drive my Yukon! please help us! I'm on unemployment and cannot afford anymore repairs. . Read more...

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

I have had an on-going issue with the steering, electrical and power steering and stability control. I have had repeated issues with the stability control turning off, sudden drop in electrical power, the steering wheel gets violently yanked out of your hands and sometime the car completely cuts off. Fortunately most have been at slow speeds or else the car would have flipped. It is the exact same issue other models have been recalled for but my VIN is not included in that recall. I am afraid of this issue killing me or my loved ones should it happen at speed or leave us stuck in front of on coming traffic. According to my dealer this is an issue the manufacture has know about for a while.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/03/2018

While we are driving on a freeway the car suddenly stop and will have a "stability lose control" message on a dash board. The car will stop momentarily and then it will run again after we start the car. The car has no power at all once it stopped. It happens a lot so right now we're not using it due to safety issue. A big safety issue because we use this to travel with family. I brought this to the mechanic but they don't seem to find what's wrong with it. They did a diagnostic test but they did not get an error message at all. Engine light is not even on.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

I have been having issues with the electrical components of the stabilitrak and abs systems. I have also been having problems with the electrical system that runs the instrumentation for the air, heat and blower. The main problem is that there is a crack on the dash in the left hand corner of the passenger air bag. This has been well documented by thousands on the internet. I called gm and they said there are no recalls but they issued a case #. This case # applies to all three problems for my vehicle.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2018 GMC Yukon denali xl. The contact noticed that the vehicle shook excessively and there was a strong vibration while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (bommarito Buick GMC west county, 15736 manchester rd, ellisville, mo 63011, (636) 391-7200) more than twice, but they were unable to determine a remedy to repair the vehicle. The dealer test drove the vehicle and the contact asked for an alignment. On the second visit, an alignment was performed and the tires were rotated and balanced; however, the failure continued. On the third visit, the dealer indicated that the tires were out of alignment and one tire was replaced; however, the shaking continued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer provided no specific remedy and provided the vehicle as a trade-in from a 2017 GMC Yukon denali xl, which exhibited the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

I have a 2003 Yukon denali I purchased and it has given me the reduced engine power light and almost had a few accidents on the highway because it drops the speed to 20 mph also it has the check engine codes as p0120 and p2135 I have been aware that gm has not found a solution to this and wanted to see if there is any recalls as I am very afraid of being in a very serious accident with my children in the car.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

As we are driving down the interstate our Yukon loses all power, engine turns off, stability control message comes up, tire pressure sensor message comes up. We pulled over to the side of the road and try refiring the engine. It feels like the engine is about to jump out from under the hood. We turn it off and wait about 5 minutes. Start the engine back up after waiting and it drives ok, but engine light is on. This has happened to us twice in two days time.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2002 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Early in the morning I start up the truck to warm it up. I put the truck in reverse and as soon as I put the truck in drive the "reduce engine power" light comes on, then the truck goes "limp mode" (not allowing the truck to go no more than 20 mph in motion). I have to restart the truck 5 times for the "reduce engine power" light to turn off. Leaving the "service engine" light on. This problem occurs every morning, no matter hoe long I warm up the truck. I bought this truck 3 years ago from a used car lot, and I didnt start having issues until 1 year ago. Throttle body assembly seems to be the issue with all gm vehicles.
