My wife was driving my 2005 GMC Yukon denali xl when both the passenger tires went flat. We put air in the tires and drove home. The next morning only the front passenger tire was flat so I used my compressor to air the tire up and went to firestone to have it checked out. When firestone removed the tire and looked at it, they found multiple split on the inside of the tire. So I had them check all the tires and each one had the same problems. I have replaced all four tires now but someone has sold a bad tire and I want them recalled and also my money back.

The contact owns a 2001 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the tires are replacement equipment. In 2004, she purchased four brand new tires when the vehicle was at 50,000 miles. When the tires reached 25,000 miles, each of them failed one by one and had to be replaced. The tires had a hole in them and the radial cord separated in one spot. She again purchased four new tires of the same brand and on June 19, 2007, one of the tires failed and had to be replaced. The tires are continental sport lt/SUV, p26/70r16. The correct tire size was unavailable in the drop down menu at the time of this complaint. The VIN, engine size, and purchase date were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 75,000.

While driving down highway 59 northbound before the louise, TX exit, the tread separated from my back driver side tire causing damage to my fender area and back driver side door. My firestone steeltex at lt245/75r16 tire was not flat, the tread just came off.
I have a 2001 GMC Yukon and it came with firestone steeltex at tires lt 245/75r 16. The tire's dot # is vn11 bac 4700. I was going south on hwy 101 and the front end began to vibrate. Before, I could pull over the tread completely separated from the tire core and was flying all over the highway. The core still held air and I was able to pull over with out any incidents. I drove the vehicle about 1 mile to the next exit where I was able to change the tire and examine the vehicle. The vehicle sustained minor body damage where the tread hit the inside of the wheel well (driver's side front). I have sent the core to firestone and they said that it was caused by sustained high pressure in the tire. I disagree with this because all 4 tires had even treads with out any bald areas in the middle and the tire press was checked right before my trip. When I replaced the 4 tires, the salesman look at the other 3 and he said that they wasn't anything wrong with them. They still have the core if you would like to examine it.
I took delivery of my 2003 GMC Yukon slt on 22 December 2003. It has chassis problems since it had 500 miles on the odometer. I have taken it to the dealership service department for the following chassis related complaints multiple times: front end vibration and highway speeds (50+ mph), steering wheel pull at all speeds, and sudden loss of power steering. In the past, gm service has aligned the front end, balanced wheels, replaced tires, replaced the power steering pump, and replaced the steering gear. Vehicle service history is available. The most recent loss of power steering occurred on 29 July 2005 at approximately 10:00 p. M. I was pulling out of a tubby's restaurant parking lot in clinton township, mi in an attempt to turn right onto garfield st. My attempted right turn failed as my vehicle steering locked mid way into my turn, causing my vehicle to go into oncoming traffic. I slammed on the brakes, put the vehicle in reverse to remove my vehicle from traffic, and wrestled with the steering wheel to turn right to get on the right side of the road. I had a near miss as there was traffic coming from both directions on a road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph. After the near miss, I realized that the vehicle had lost power steering, only to the right. I carefully drove the vehicle home. I took the vehicle to rinke pontiac GMC service on 1 August 2005 for service. The serve department said that I would have the pay for it since the warranty has expired.

I purchased 4 new continental-made tires for our 2001 GMC Yukon. These tires carry the "general" brand name, model p265-70r16, grabber aw, dot# a3723j82301. I purchased these tires with an understanding that they are warranted against defects and any damage occurring as a result would be covered by the tire company. I have properly maintained these tires throughout my ownership of them. After a little more than a year after purchase, one of the tires unexpectedly and suddenly blew up, causing me to lose control of the vehicle, barely missing an embankment and concrete bridge column. Upon inspection of the tire immediately thereafter, I saw that the tread had completely ripped off the top of the tire. As a result of this, the loose tread was "slapping" every part of the vehicle in the surrounding area causing over $4,000 worth of damage, including, body damage, tailpipe damage, electrical wires cut, a/c lines cut, tail light severed, running boards broken and more. Immediately after, I contacted continental and filed a claim to be reimbursed for this damage. After a lengthy wait, I was informed on January 26, 2005 that they were denying my claim due to a small tire puncture. It is my contention that a small puncture should not cause the tire to absolutely explode the way mine did. Furthermore, continental claims there were other defects in the tire, such as sidewall damage, that were all caused as a result of the accident, and not the other way around. It has since become clear to me that continental has had the same sort of blowouts on similar models. . Read more...
Have a 2003 GMC Yukon with firestone wilderness le p265/70r16 tires on it. Have balanced and rotated tires as recommended. Previous balanced/rotate at 20,000. Current mileage 24,000 and mechanic refused to rotate due to broken belts and washboard effect showing on all tires. Mechanic stated these are the same tires as previously recalled. Could lead to complete tread/belt speraration.
Poor wear on tires.
A loud grinding noise was heard coming from the rear. Vehicle was taken to a tire garage for inspection, and mechanic determined that a rock gravel was trapped inside of the tread, and the rocks would cut groves inside of the alloy wheels. This caused loss of air pressure from the tires.
Driving along interstate at speed limit, tire tread separated, flew into wheel well. Considerable amount of damage to wheel well, and off course tire damage. Unknown parts repaired/replaced. . . Will take car into dealership tomorrow morning.

I bought a new 2002 Yukon xl which came with firestone wilderness le tires including the spare. I have rotated all tires properly and according to the maintenance schedule, every three to five thousand miles. I have had the front end alignment check out, which was found to be perfectly in alignment. The tires have 24,000 miles on them. All four of my tires are defective with high/low spots on the outside and inside tread. The three center rows of tread are wearing perfectly correct and even. The tire shop and the dealership reccommends replacing all the tires because they are a safety hazard and could possibly cause me to have an accident at higher highway speeds.

My 2000 GMC Yukon xl came with defective firestone steeltex r4s tires. I was driving down the road and one of the four tires blew out. Upon examination of all four tires on the car by my mechanic he found all four tires had signs of vertical separation of the sidewall and partial tread separation of the left rear tire and bizarre wear. The tire that blew out had come apart on one of these vertical separations. I replaced the tire with the spare and drove it to a firestone dealer. I was informed that there were no problems what-so-ever with these firestone tires and that the alignment of my SUV was the problem. I told him he was crazy and that I would not have an alignment done and I wanted it in writing. The manager gave me it in writing, and had the tires replaced but charged me over $200 and gave me more of the same brand of tire on the vehicle. I took the vehicle to my GMC dealer and had him check to see if an alignment was needed and I was explained in writing that an alignment was not needed.

Vehicle was traveling at posted speed, when tire belt separated. Belt caught up in fender well and locked both rear wheels, causing vehicle to swerve left and roll several times. My wife and I are fortunate to be alive. Bf goodrich claims no responsibility, due to their inspection of the tire they noted a puncture. I wonder how many thousand of tires out there have a nail or foriegn object in them right now, that will cause the b. F. Goodrich tire to fail and cause serious injury or death. It would be nice to be able to try and recover damages, but I can't afford an attorney, and of course bf goodrich takes no responsiblity. (dot number: ap70hk1145 tiresize: p245/75r16).
While traveling at 60 mph tire shredded. Left rear tire was original equipment with 21,000 miles mounted on a 2000, GMC, Yukon. Contacted dealer, and dealer wanted to prorate the tire. Consumer states firestone is completely negligent had reported unusual tire wear to firestone.
