1 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

The rear passenger door does not lock or open with the remote or front drive door switches. Turns out that the lock actuator has gone bad and has to be replaced. My son is 4 years old and due to the fact that we can not lock the door from the front - he opened the rear door while car was driving . Luckly he was in car seat. This could pose a serious problem for parents with young children. While the car was under warranty the same rear passenger door side lock actuator was replaced 3 times. Unfortunately the car is out of warranty and the problem continues for us. Need to have GMC look into this matter. Online there's so many people with the exact same issue. Poses a serious issue for parents with this type of vehicle. Please have GMC recall and investigate this matter before someone truly gets hurt.

2 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

I have consulted with many others who have experienced this issue as well. General motors fails to acknowledge that there's a quality concern or that there's a potential safety concern with these vehicles. This not only affects GMC Yukons, but Chevrolet tahoes and suburbans as well. The dash board is made of hard but brittle plastic. The dash boards tend to crack over time, especially near the passenger air bag opening, leaving sharp "dagger like" pieces of dash board material loose. In the event of an airbag deployment, there's a risk of these pieces being propelled by the air bag and injuring occupants of the vehicle. I've heard of this affecting vehicles from as little as 1 year old. General motors has refused to acknowledge the issue and has blatantly stated that if it were a safety problem, "the government would do something about it". Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

3 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/02/2012

Since March of this year we have have 3 of the 4 door locking actuators fail and replaced on our 2009 GMC Yukon denali with only 39000 miles on it. We contacted gm via e-mail with our concerns. Gm are not concerned with it being a safety issue. The only thing they were concerned with was if it was reported to a gm dealer, if not it was not a concern of theirs. We had our local mechanic fix the issue due to the distance to our dealership and our vehicle being just out of warranty . My wife and children have had crawl across the vehicle to exit. My concerns after looking up this major safety issue, on the internet, is that there are a lot of similar complaints regarding this saftey issue, but gm has classified this a problem as a "non-safety issue". When my wife and children can not exit the vehicle through the door they are sitting closest due to a accident , fire, or some other form of an emergency, it is a safety concern.

5 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/09/2011

The spare tire fell off the truck. Is held on by a hoist and cable system. The cable broke allowing the tire to fall to the ground. Luckily the vehicle was being backed out of the garage and not going down the road when it happened. This could have been fatal for my family or others on the road! so far I have called the dealership and GMC. They want to schedule an appointment but as of right now do not want to cover the part because its more than seven years old. This is not acceptable. This part failed and could have caused injury to my family and or others. Incident happened this morning on 12/9/11.

6 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/25/2011

I went to the mall yesterday and my car stared shaking the mall is 4 miles away from my house. I was driving through this intersedtion on the way home and I heard a horrible pop and saw something fly in the air and fall off of my car. It was the driver shaft and that part was laying in the road about 4 feet long and if someonewould have ran over it I believe it could have caused injurty to someone. This car hashadso many issues. From tail lights going out at one time, the door knob falling off, the arm of the seat broke and now the head light just went out. Brake issues and I called GMC to tell them that this partfelloff and they were not sure if it is under warranty. Nothing ever is but it is sad to spend this kind of money on a vehicle and have so many issues with it. We bought it brand new. I was shaking from this incident and had the car towed away.

7 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/13/2011

There is a crack in my dash on the left corner of the passenger airbag and another one on the left side of the steering wheel hump. These cracks cause the dash to rattle and vibrate a lot while the vehicle is being driven, which is very distracting and they also leave exposed, sharp edges. I am concerned that the crack could compromise the airbags functions. We have only owned this vehicle for 6 months. There were no cracks when we purchased it. The vehicle was in very good condition. After we noticed the cracks on Sunday, I started researching how to fix the problem. Our local gm dealership was not very helpful. I contacted gm directly and they are not willing to replace the dash. I looked online and found numerous people who have the exact same problem in their 07 Yukons and tahoes. It seems to be a trend! I found a site where others have posted their problems and the results they got from gm. Several people have been fortunate enough to get the dash replaced for free of charge. I was not that lucky. I feel that this issue needs to be looked into further. I do not feel that I should have to pay to replace a defect that so many vehicles have. Please help me! thank you!.

8 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/20/2011

The interior, driver side door handle on my 2007 GMC Yukon is defective. The chrome laminate that covers the plastic handle is peeling on the top seam of the handle causing sharp edges to be exposed to my hand every time I open the door. I have contacted the dealership and they are saying that the "special coverage recall" is only good for 100,000 miles. I have 118,000 miles on my Yukon and the problem is just now surfacing. I have contacted GMC directly for a resolution, which has been escalated to the district specialist in the area. This poses a continual hazard to me, since I have already cut my hand once from the problem. The cut was minor, similar to a paper cut, but a cut nonetheless. I do not feel that the recall should be limited to vehicle owners with less than 100,000 miles that are experiencing this problem.

9 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

Recently, my check engine light came on in my 2006 Yukon denali xl w/ a 6. 0 engine. The diagnostic test showed a gas cap problem. However, this did not fix the issue. Several weeks later, the engine started making what sounded like a clicking sound. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that there was a leak in the driver's side exhaust manifold. While in the shop, the mechanic discovered 2 bolts that were broken on the driver's side and it was found that one of the bolts on the passenger side is broken, but the passenger side exhaust manifold was not yet leaking. The auto shop was able to extract one of the bolts, but has found it impossible to remove the other on the driver's side without pulling the engine. This is a necessary repair because improper exhaust is a direct violation of epa standards. Furthermore, engine fires can result from this type of issue. Upon further research, I have found numerous other gm vehicle owners with a similar exhaust manifold bolt problem. In fact, there is a video created by carquestions on this exact issue. . 10 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/21/2011

2009 Yukon xl has died 3 times while driving. Once was in reverse. There is no warning. I've taken it to the dealership, they couldn't "reproduce" the problem so nothing wrong was determined. The only thing that quits is the engine (which takes out the power steering so I cannot control the truck for long and not at all in a turn); the air and radio/dvd player stay on, the lights (in - on dashboard and outside) stay on and no check engine light or any light that shows a problem comes on. The first occurence was in August of 2010, I was in mid turn, with my 4 children in the truck when I suddenly couldn't complete the turn. It died in the middle of the street. I couldn't turn the wheel or apply pressure to the brake. I put it in park, turned the key to off, removed the key, replaced it and restarted the engine (which started immediately). Onstar couldn't detect anything and the dealership couldn't get it to "reproduce" so nothing was fixed. In the past several weeks (July/August 2011) it has happened 2 more times, once while reversing (straight) and the other while again turning into a parking lot - this almost resulted in an accident. Both turns were right turns. The vehicle is being inspected, again, by the dealership with the same outlook; if it cannot be reproduced, there is nothing they can do. The transmission slips also but the dealership says they're not related. There are several incidents similiar to this online, as far as I can tell, none have been resolved. This is a very dangerous situation that will surely end up in an accident eventually. The first incident was at (about) 14,500 miles and last 2 were between 35,000 and 38,000 miles.

11 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/20/2011

We came home from vacation to find our 2003 Yukon's battery dead. My husband jumped it and took it for a ride. It wouldn't run over 20 mph. The "reduced engine power" light is on. He shut it off and it's running ok right now. I check out a couple of forums on this problem. I'm afraid to drive it because endless numbers of consumers report the same problem coming back even when they have had it serviced by the dealer. This problem seems to come without any notice to the driver and has almost cause accidents. Several people have claim to be on the highway going the speed limit when their car suddenly drops to 20-30 mph. GMC does not seem to be overly concerned with this problem and has no recalls on it.

12 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Broken exhaust manifold studs are causing environmental hazard and may lead to failed catalytic converter and other engine problems. This is a manufacturing defect that should be recalled, as it renders the vehicle either unusable or unable to pass environmental testing.

13 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2010 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/29/2011

Third party power window injury. I put the back seat window up from the front seat and crushed my 7 year old childs finger in the window causing serious injury to her finger. She required 8 stiches to repair the tip of her finger which had basically blown open.

14 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/29/2011

I first noticed a crack on the dash up by the passenger air bag area. Now it has cracked all on top where the speedometer and gas and tempreature panel is. I'm a person that takes great care of my vehicle and am worried that this can create a much bigger problem like failure in the readings on the instument panel or even in an event of an accident that if I have a passenger the air bag will not deploy. I hope that I may get some help with this. I would understand if I had been in an accident ,these things happen. But thank god I have not and so this is of some concern.

15 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

I own a 2007 GMC Yukon and the dashboard cracked in two separate places and now fell in on one side. I contacted the dealer and they told me that this wasn't a recall item, however when I research this on the internet I found a number of other complaints about the same problem with the same type of vehicle. 1gkfk13057r251502.

16 Unknown Or Other problem of the 1999 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/12/2011

I went to pull my horse trailer forward to load horses and the brake pedal went to the floor. I was able to turn the vehicle uphill to get it to stop. A neighbor took the protective panel off of the front undercarriage and found brake fluid leaking from the tubing. The truck is scheduled to go to the repair shop tomorrow to fix this.

17 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/05/2011

Hello around the beggining of June of 2011 I was driving my 2005 GMC Yukon xl when suddenly I recieved an error message on my dash board stating "reduce engine power" automatically my speed went down. I pulled over to the side and did a diagnostic check with onstar, they informed me that the engine suddently was reducing speed and the best thing to do was take it in to get checked at. On Monday, June 6th I took it in to bob brown dealer in merle hay in des moines, IA, I spoke to bob lundy and informed him of the problem I was having, he informed me they had to do some diagnostic check again, I left my vehicle there and got a ride to work from them. In the pm I recieved a phone call from bob stating that all it was was just a sensor so they would have to replace it I informed him that was fine as long as everything would be fixed. They charged me $457. 02, about a week later the engine light came back on and reduce engine power kicked in again, I called bob lundy at the GMC dealer and he stated that the sensor might have gone bad again. I waited about 2 weeks and took it in again and this time they cannot figure out what is going on with my truck, I even left it there overnight and all they can tell me is that they cannot figure the problem out. I am out $452 dollars and the reduce engine power acts up almost everyday! I have to keep pulling over in the interstate, street, or anywhere I am at in order to turn my vehicle off for 5 minutes and start it over for that error message to go away and for me to be able to drive my vehicle appropiately, otherwise the engine power is not working and I can only drive it up to 20 mph. Sometimes even when I restart my vehicle the message is still there and I have to wait and loose more time. This is affecting my everday life, I have been late to meetings, work, to pick up my daughter. I want this fixed please! bob brown dealer stated they don't know what the problem is with my vehicle, I think they just don't know how to fix it!!!.

18 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/05/2011

This is the second time for this problem to occur with this vehicle. I filed a complaint ( 10398842 ) with your department on 05/03/2011. Since that date, we drove the vehicle to dallas, TX for a convention with no vehicle problems. Then on June 5th, we were returning from houston when the vehicle without any warning gave a message that the engine was going to reduced power while we were driving in traffic. We had to work our way to a safe area to park because we were a hazard to other drivers. This afternoon I called general motors to get some response to this problem. I was told again that the engine was protecting itself from damage. Again, I asked if it was more important to protect the engine than the occupants, the representative was rather testy about the issue. There was no response when I said that no automobile in America should shut down in traffic for a non emergency. Especially since the driver looses control of the operation of the vehicle. I have a picture of the instrument cluster during the reduced power interval which shows that all guages were normal so there was no reason to expect any issues with the vehicle. The engine was at 500 rpm and would not gain speed. This is causing us to fear driving this vehicle. In any case, I cannot see any reason for any vehicle on the american roads to be under the control of itself while in traffic. The passengers should be the primary concern. I hope you can get to the botton of this before an accident occurs with this vehicle. If there isn't a current recall on this vehicle for this problem, should there be? this is a low mileage well maintained vehicle.

19 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/03/2011

While driving on highway or within city, the truck displays a warning "stability system disabled, reduced engine power". The truck while in motion lowers power and becomes a safety hazard, unable to drive with the flow of traffic. Forced to pull over and in one instance the truck completely shut down while driving due to the aforementioned warning. To date the throttle body has been replaced however the condition returned 1 week later, under normal driving conditions. At this time a solution to the condition has not presented itself and the truck is quite dangerous as it may shut down or reduce its engine power due to this defect that gm is unable to identify.

20 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/03/2011

The interior chrome handles are peeling, I have cut my fingers while exiting the vehicle. I am a little concerned that this will happen to my young children and require a trip to the doctors.

21 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/14/2011

I own a 2001 GMC Yukon and this is the second time the abs module has failed on it. After it fails, the motor continues to run. Not only do you not have abs, but the motor heats up. If you don't notice it right away, it will drain your battery, leave you stranded, or worse.

22 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/04/2011

Rear bucket seat (drivers side) caught fire. Fire attributed to seat heater failure by each the 1) fire marshal, 2) GMC dealer and 3) geico. Car was unoccupied, parked for approximately 2 hours before returning to open car and find car seat on fire. Car seat was not used by any passengers for at least a week prior to the fire. There were only two passengers using the car during an out-of-town trip when the fire occurred on fourth day. Thus, car seat heater some how turned itself on, remained on, overheated, and caught seat cushion material on fire. Luckily, car was parked turned off completely (except for seat heater!), locked and unoccupied. Further, fire was discovered before spreading, engulfing car and endangering others in the busy school parking lot. Had the seat caught fire while someone was actually sitting in the seat and/or the car was traveling at highway speeds, this failure would have resulted in injuries and possible fatalities. Seat heaters should never risk causing fires and need to be investigated.

23 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/06/2011

Summary: 2007 GMC Yukon. Interior door handles. Chrome plating has separated from the top where handle is grabbed. 24 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/22/2011

My 2008 Yukon xl on the way home is powered down with several error messages. Traction control off, stable trac off, and engine power reduced. Could not go more then 25 mph. Went to faulkner GMC dealer in trevose, PA next day. Paid $122. 00 to diagnose the problem. It was throttle body failure. Was told that this part is a back order and GMC don't have a manufacturer who's gonna produce this parts for gm. Had to pay another $100. 00 to clean this part and service adviser told me it should less for at least 2 weeks and up to few months. It took me only 2 weeks. Now I can't even get out from my development. Have to restart the engine every stop sign. I am in limousine business and can't stay home and just wait till gm will find a manufacturer. Found out that this is common problem with this vehicles. Should there be a recall on this part?.

25 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/08/2011

"reduced engine power/stalility control disengaged" message displayed, engine went to idle and would not exceed 5-10 mph. Traffic from behind served to avoid decelerating vehicle. I understand this is something that is somewhat common with these gm models. The possibility of rear end collisions may be experienced due to rapid deceleration due to loss of power. Happened intermittently again during the day. It clears itself after the vehicle sits for a while but there is no warning when it might happen again. Information received form various forums state it is believed to be within the wiring harness for the throttle position sensor.

26 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

When driving the speedometer would get stuck. Then go back to normal. This happened for about two months then it all stoped wprking all the gages are now not working.

27 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/17/2010

The plastic dash cap which covers the electrical, instrument cluster and holds the airbag is cracked. Currently there is only one crack approximately 4 inches long which is located over the instrument cluster hump. My concern is that the dash cap will continue to produce new cracks around the passenger air bag as other Yukon owners have experienced. If the vehicle is involved in an accident the cracked brittle dash pad could shatter and impact and injure someone in the vehicle.

28 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Last fall, 2010, I noticed that the interior chrome door handles were chipping. They chips were very sharp. I took it to the dealer they said that there was nothing they could except replace them at my expense. I was cut yesterday, 10/1/2011 on my handle. This is the NHTSA pe09044.

Failure Date: 07/31/2010

We purchased this vehicle used in July 2010 from a dealership. The inside front door handles had started to peel. The dealership was going to replace it when we took the vehicle back, but after leaving they have been difficult to deal with. The handles are peeling more and cutting our hands. The back outside door handles are coming off and the passenger side will not open from the outside. The front dash is cracked and pieces are coming off. The rear windshield wiper fell off. The arm rest on the back seats are coming off. We take good care of our vehicles. This is a poorly made vehicle. Something needs to be done.

35 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/10/2009

I have a 2007 GMC Yukon that I purchased new from a dealership that is no longer in business. I noticed in October of 2009 that the dashboard was cracked. Over the next few months the cracks got worse and now are in three areas. I contacted GMC and was told to take it into a dealership for them to access the damage. A week after I took it in I contacted GMC again and they told me that they would offer me a 10% discount to have it fixed. I tried to speak to their supervisor and was given the run around and I gave up. Since then the dashboard has gotten worse and pieces of the dash board are breaking off into the dash. When I put my hand on the dash it is not stable as there is a lot of movement. The cracks are also around my airbag on the passenger side in two spots. I'm afraid to let anyone sit in the front seat due to the possibility of the airbag malfunctioning due to a collapse of the dash. There are pieces of the dash that are already breaking off above the drivers side steering wheel. I'm afaid if this side collapes that it could cause a fire, entrapment, accident, injury and or death. I would hope that you understand my concern of me and my families safety. I would be happy to supply you with pictures or bring my vehicle in for inspection. Gm told me that they haven't heard of this problem, but when I brought it into the dealership the service guy said he had seen a few like this. I have also found a lot of people on the internet that are having this same this happen to their 2007 Yukon or 2007 tahoe.
