14 problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 1996 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Srs light comes on. Efforts to correct/reset by dealership and others has only a temporary affect. Told by dealership the srs "control module" needed replacing.
Srs light stays on. Is their recall on this?.
Srs light came on for 1996 Honda Accord v6 ex without any incident. Dealer diagnosed and could not understand the error code and suggested replacement of srs control unit. Not changing the srs control unit might cause airbags not inflate when required. The cost of repair is $800 and not necessary it would fix the issue. I searched online and found this is very common problem with Accords. Such safety related problems should be recalled by Honda.
The abs and air bag lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who stated the abs modulator, abs accumulator, and the air bag controller unit had to be replaced.
The contact states there is a problem with the srs light staying on. The vehicle has not been inspected due to the cost of having a diagnostic test done. The dealer suggested the consumer wait to see if a recall would be issued. Updated 11/29/05. Updated 01/04/06.
Air bag sensor light(srs) remains on. There is no apparent reason for this defect.
Srs failed due to a faulty control unit. The consumer requested possible warranty assistance for his automobile, which had two incidents where the restraint system failed due to a faulty control unit, the dealer replaced the unit, but the same problem occurred again. It's has now been diagnosed as a non functioning passenger side air bag.
Air bag sensor light remained on. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under manufacturer's recall, and repairs would be at consumer's cost.
When the car was turned on the air bag light came on and stayed on and did not go off. Dealer contacted and ran check on computer. Found a code, reset it to remedy the problem.

The air bag warning light was coming on every couple of months. The srs module was replaced twice. First time in September of 97, second time on April 9, 1998. Currently there is no problem with the system.
The vehicle srs (air bag) light came lit, dealer said when the vehicle arrived the air bag almost deployed if driven further. Dealer indicated that service manual is incorrect.
