The contact has a 1999 Honda Accord. The gas pedal is very stiff when the vehicle is turned off for more than an hour. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated the pedal is having a hard time engaging at first and then as the vehicle warms the pedal resets and the pedal works properly. The failure mileage was 50000 and the current mileage was 55000. The VIN was unavailable.

Gas pedal sticks when starting the car. Must press hard to get car in motion and then quickly let off so car will not go out of control speed wise. Usually when car has been setting for a while or cold outside. I feel it is unsafe in parking lots or anywhere people may be walking by car when this has to be done as the car "jumps" and the engin reves up. Been doing this for about a year now. Giving the last date it occurred.

The consumer stated 1999 Honda Accord I had carbon build up in the throttle, which is resulted in the throttle sticking. Regardless, of how long the vehicle sat, when the consumer gave the vehicle gas, the throttle stuck. It did not matter if it was in reverse or forward. This problem was intermittent, and has been happening for the past 4 to 5 years. This has been reported this to the dealer. They suggested that she bring it in for a throttle cleaning, which she did. The mechanic from the dealership told her that she would have to have this done again because it would continue to happen. The consumer called the dealership and the manufacturer, and they have been of no help. And often refer her to have the throttle cleaned again at her cost. At this rate, the throttle would have to be cleaned every few months. At this point, the throttle is sticking and needs to be cleaned, but the owner suggested that this should be covered by the manufacturer as a safety improvement or recall.
Consumer complained about gas pedal problem. It does not move as freely as it should. Consumer has to step on the gas pedal very hard to get the vehicle going when moving from a start position. . This occurs only after the vehicle has been sitting for a while.
While accelerating without warning pedal will stick forcing driver to place extra pressure on pedal to undo pedal from being stuck.
When the accelerator pedal is pressed vehicle hesitates and jumps. Took vehicleto dealer, dealer said, " they will not do anything to the vehicle until engine light illuminated".
