Cruise Control problems of the 2000 Honda Accord

1 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2010

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 85 mph. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off the road and applied the brakes; however, the vehicle would not slow down. The contact turned the vehicle off twice and restarted it; the vehicle functioned properly after the restart. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the cruise control was defective; it was disconnected. The contact called the manufacturer who advised him to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 163,252. Updated 01/26/lj the consumer stated the sudden accelertion lasted about 5 minutes. The accelerator pedal remained stuck at full throttle. Updated 03/09/11.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2002

While driving down hill and having cruise control on vehicle will start to accelerate. Vehicle should not be accelerating when having cruise control on. Contacted dealer.

3 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2002

While pulling out of the driveway at a low speed, the vehicle accelerated at a speed of 70 mph. When this occurred, the vehicle went over a fence. The axle broke and the two front tires blew out. The cruise control light was on at the time of the incident. The foot brake failed to stop the vehicle. The consumer had to turn the ignition off in order to stop the vehicle.

4 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2001

While driving at approximately 68 mph on interstate with cruise control on, vehicle jerked to the right first, then a massive jerk to left. Vehicle performed a 360 degree turn, and went airborn. Vehicle ended up in median, and a police report was taken. Driver lost control for an unknown reason. Dealership didn't inform consumer of any reason that could have caused the defect. Consumer has been informed that vehicle was not included in any suspension related recall. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

5 Cruise Control problem

Consumer complained that the vehicle lacked acceleration which was so severe that it was causing a dangerous hazard to driving, the dealer informed consumer that this was normal since the vehicle was a ulev, however after several complaints it was determined that the valves needed to be adjusted which corrected the problem.
