I was applying brake pressure at low speed through a parking lot , made a turn to park reverse, foot on brake put car in reverse to back up, put foot lightly on gas pedal and it gain speed and lurched forward instead, over a curb, up an slight incline and hit library wall, and stopped. Air bag did not deploy. I am sore, it was towed and I pay to have it towed to my mechanic to look at next week.
I was approaching a traffic light at a speed of about 35 mph driving my Honda Accord 2000 v6 on July 13, 2013 approximately @ 2. 00 pm est. I was in the right lane and all of a sudden my car accelerated on its own increasing the speed to approximately 60 mph. Shocked by the random acceleration, I applied brakes to stop the vehicle. After stomping on the pedal it was apparent that the brakes did not work . Therefore in order to avoid going towards the traffic I decided to drive into the woods on to my right side. The car came to a stop inside a wooded area 45 yards from the edge of the right lane knocking off all the trees on its way. It deployed both airbags in the front. The vehicle is completely damaged ( totaled). There was no injuries to me or any others in this crash. I firmly believe & suspect there was some malfunction in the vehicle's speed control system that resulted in this mishap. It would be a great help if you could assist in contacting Honda motor company.
I was driving my Honda Accord on a residential street, when the transmission started to shift erratically. The d4 light started to flash and the 'check engine' light came on. The Honda dealership that serviced the vehicle told me that the transmission had failed. This from a car that I had purchased six weeks earlier. Luckily the incident happened on a vacant road and not a highway on-ramp where smooth shifting is a life or death scenario.
At 3 pm I drove down to pick up mail (from car window) at the end of pipestem. Backed up turning right to make u turn for return. Straightened wheels and started forward to begin left turn on narrow road, a maneuver I have performed dozens of times. Car accelerated despite immediate braking and ran off embankment into woods. Unable to stop I deliberately hit a tree to avoid driving into pond. Triple a pulled the car out of the woods and craftsman auto body of chantilly (va) did the repairs. I assumed it had been a glitch in the accelerator but could not prove it. I now practice throwing the car into neutral from time to time in case it happens again. Recent newspaper reports of similar cases induced me to make this report.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 65 mph, the speed control was engaged. The driver attempted to disengage it by depressing the brake pedal and there was a sudden forceful acceleration. The vehicle became uncontrollable. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed down. He pulled over and turned off and restarted the engine. The vehicle resumed normal operation. In addition, the vehicle failed to operate in reverse. The vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN was unable to be entered into the system. The failure and current mileages were 125,000.
Vehicle lunged or accelerated in parking space with foot off accelerator and on brake. Vehicle jumped over, and collided with pet mall building wall. There was no police report.
When the consumer stepped on the accelerator, nothing happened, then all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated out of control. After taking the auto to the dealer a number of times, the transmission was replaced , but it did not resolve the problem. Then after another visit to the dealer/mechanic, the consumer was told they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle, since the problem could not be duplicated. The consumer was advised, to keep a record of the mishaps and present it to the states attorney's office. Then one day her husband was driving the vehicle, and it happened again, killing her husband in an auto collision. The consumer stated there was a recall in effect because of the problem.
Backing out of the driveway, my car accelerated, skid on ice and hit a tree. I put it in drive but again the car went out of control. I could not control its speed, and braking was ineffective. It could not be stopped. I went through the back wall of our garage, causing great damage.
Car was placed in park. Motor suddenly revved with loud clanking sound and vehicle shot forward and hit tree. After collision, transmission shifted into reverse.
Vehicle accelerated from a complete stop at a traffic light, causing a collision. The engine raced and the brake became completely disengaged. The car took off like a bullet causing damage to both vehicles and landed me in apposing traffic. Thank god no-one was injured. Manufacturer found no defects or cause for malfunction.
When braking or while stopping at stop light the engine races (rpms in red zone). Must slam on brakes and shift into park to prevent vehicle from surging into traffic. This has occurred on four separate occasions--the first in December and the most recent one week ago. The problem appears to be identical with those reported for this vehicle in odi id 89408 and odi id 882677. Can you advise how those problems were resolved. American Honda advised me that they had had no complaints similar to mine, which obviously is not correct.
Would be waiting at light. When engine would start to rev up while foot was on brakes, it would then take off. Needed to slam on brakes to prevent vehicle from moving. Been to dealership 5 times, but mechanic could not locate cause of problem.
When driving and at a stand still with foot depressed on brake pedal vehicle surge forward without prior warning. Consumer has contacted dealer.
While exiting the parking space vehicle began to accelerate on its own. Consumer tapped the brake, and the speed increased even more. As a result, driver loss control of vehicle an hit a concrete poll, and another vehicle.
The vehicle accelerated, slid on a piece of ice, and hit a small tree. Consumer put vehicle back into drive and tried to get out of driveway however vehicle continued to accelerate. The brakes were applied, but had no effect.
