Consumer is inquiring about warranty issues for his 2000 Honda Accord. The consumer stated the egr valve was replaced due to the check engine light illuminating. Also, the panel lights needed to be replaced.
Driving a 2000 Honda Accord (4 cylinder) at approximately 25 miles per hour. Making a right hand turn. Total loss of power to automobile. Complete engine shutdown. Engine restart after second attempt but complete failure again. Check engine light and all dash instrumentation illuminated prior to second engine failure. Car towed to Honda dealership. Owner informed that egr valve failed. Owner informed that it was impossible for the egr to fail while car was in motion. That simply is not true as this failure indeed happened to this vehicle while in motion. Total repair cost not provided at this time. No prior indication of egr problems prior to this incident.
At 84,366 miles my car's check engine light came on. Took Accord to mechanic and was told the egr valve error code appeared. The mechanic said to take to Honda due to recall for this part. Picked car up from mechanic and car also had srs light on. Researched online since I already have recall for dash light. Found many other Honda owners with same srs light. Found out my air bags will not function if sensor illuminated. Also, called Honda and they said I was beyond the mileage (80k) for the extended warranty on the defective egr valve replacement. Asked what Honda was doing about the front airbags and was told no decision has been made. I have also discovered my car has the extended warranty for defective/faulty transmission. So when I'm driving down the highway my tranmsmission may give out at high rate of speed and if collsion occurs, my air bags will not deploy. My seat weld joint broke at 54k too! I used a 99 Toyota 4runner as replacement vehicle and discovered the seatbelt warning light came on when my 40lb. Dog sat in passenger front seat. My Accord never has detected my dog in the front seat ever! this car is riddled with safety defects and poor manufacturing. Honda should be held responsible for protecting the owners from injury including monetary repairs/ replacement costs for all of these safety defects and engine defects.
The engine light went on, the code said bad egr valve, so it was cleaned out, when that didn't work, the egr valve was replaced and 8 months later the engine light came on again saying that the egr valve is malfunctioning again.
After driving the vehicle for a while, the vehicle has a problem with restarting. Vehicle would hesitate for a while and you need to apply the accelerator pedal to the floor before starting. Vehicle has been to two separate dealers. The first dealer replaced the erg valve. And the problem recurred and the second dealer replaced the fuel pressure regulator kit and the problem still recurring. . Check engine light continues to appear on dashboard. Intermittent stalling. Dealer removed and replaced egr valve/removed intake manifold and cleaned ports.
Various problems with 2000 Honda Accord. The alternator failed, the egr valve failed, the srs light illuminated, the driver's seat back panel had fallen due to s defective plastic anchor pin, the a/c stopped working, and the front passenger door seal at the bottom was falling off.
Egr valve went bad on the car. Internet search shows that this happens to many people. Asked dealer to fix the problem as it was a defect. They said it wasn't. I had to pay since it was affecting my fuel economy. It was replaced by a new, different type of valve. That makes me think the original part was bad.
The tranmission will shift gears very losely and makes a clunking sound but only when it is in reverse. Now it shifts slugishly. Took dealer to the dealer twice and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Now they think it is the motor mounts. The first time this happened was in October of 2002. Dash board lighting goes blank. A faulty multiflex light unit was found. Front brakes worn. Check engine light was on. Found faulty egr valve assembly and replaced. Srs light is on. Faulty opds unit was found.
Engine hesitates when pressing accelerator traveling between 20-40 mph. Engine pings loses power after car sits for 10 to 15 minutes when air temp. Is above 60 degrees.
