8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2021

Honda Accord with v6 engine has had two recalls regarding power steering supply hose leak - service bulletin 12-066 and service bulletin 13 - 012. Recall 13-012 was issued may 14, 2013 (see link to recall here: https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/rcl/2012/rcrit-12v222-9834. Pdf) the vehicle record for this VIN shows repair for recall 13-012 was made April 3, 2013 - a month and a half prior to he issuance of recall 13-012. Mileage on April 3, 2013 was 27,783. This complaint is being filed with the NHTSA because the same power steering feed hose purportedly replaced April 3, 2013 with an upgraded more heat resident hose is leaking again. This is significant because the original hose lasted 10 years (2003 to 2013) and 27,783 miles while the purportedly upgraded recall replacement hose lasted only 8 years - with present mileage being 66,321. Honda dealer will not provide additional repair stating recall has been satisfied. Clearly power steering leak is continuing to pose a under hood fire safety issue with location over hot catalytic converter. Thank you for allowing this issue to be brought to NHTSA's attention.

9 Steering problem

I have called the dealerships in my area for a recall repair because my car inspection indicated that my vehicle has three dangerous safety recalls. An appointment was made, the car was taken to darlings Honda of bangor, me, on 8/15/2020 and they refused to do the repair because we refused to pay for additional repairs not requested. We were forced to drive the car back home, about 100 miles with the risk of the car catching fire, from the power steering hose leak.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2015

When I was at Honda dealer for front hook latch cable that needed to look at because it did not open unless two people do that. I went there to request for it to adjust but they advise me to replace new one! they should adjust tension as it is not broken yet. Second item, they advised is to replace the power steerling returning line due to leak and the estimate is $375! I denied their service until I checked the recall information at home. The information posted in 2012 saying that a group of Honda Accord 2003 has this part recall, however my VIN nbr was not on recall list. I request you to investigate because I was told by someone else with deep knowledge about Honda as he said that it is common that Honda Accord 2003 with v6 engine having that premature leaking. Therefore, I believe my hose is prematurely leak and needs to be replaced through recall immediately. For time being, I decided to go to non-Honda repair shop and they repair it for now, not replace for now. Because a group of Honda Accord 2003 with this problem was recalled in 2012, I request you to investigate demanding to have Honda recall my car. It made some type of noises. Please contact me ASAP as I am concerned about my safety.

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

Someone please help me!!!!!!!!!!!! on the above date, I started my car & proceeded to clean rain water from the windshield. The wipers would not come on, nor would the radio. This is just a couple of ongoing things that I've experienced with this car, since I've purchased it. My mechanic says the wipers are factory defects. Whew, not again!!!! ugh! when's it going to end. I'm one of those people who depend on my car fro everything because of my college student so, I'm anal on the maintenance. We just put in new ball joints and he tells me the suspension is faulty so, it will cause me to replace the joints again in the future. I opted for the lesser of the two because, it's a factory issue. I've received a couple of recall notices however, upon taking the car to the dealer, once they kept it& claimed to fix the steering issues however, they still exist. I took it a second time, they had the car all of 20 mins. And told me that this issue was fixed previously. I'm continuously having issues with the steering whining, no matter how many times I service the fluids. My radio & electrical systems in the car, is constantly on the blink or not working. Now the passenger window decides not to go up. One day, as I was exiting the vehicle (turned off!) it decided to roll backwards. Luckily both feet were not out the car and I could catch it! I've invested so much money in keeping this car running until my mechanic knows what going wrong before the recalls come out. He's serviced so many "03" Accords, until he's thinking of becoming a specialist for Hondas. I just want Honda to correct all recalls on my vehicle. My student depends on it. ! how are these car manufacturers allowed to keep robbing its customers??? my address has changed since my last complaint. See below.

23 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

I am the first owner of 2003 Accord, ex. My car has 113,000 miles on it. Its a well maintained car I kept for years. I must say that this car is excellent, however, there are signs that some parts are not functioning really well lately. For the past few months, I noticed my tcs sign on the dashboard comes on and off together with the triangle sign in orange. It started coming on after I turned off the ignition to my first destination and after just like 10-15 minutes and start my engine again, it will come on after driving for next 5-10 minutes. Also, just two weeks ago I noticed that the gear gets stuck on "park" mode and I have to press the handle before it gets released. I am not sure if the gear has something to do with the tcs and triangle showing on the dashboard. Also, I noticed my car has an issue with brakes when driving while raining. I have to step on the brakes a few times when its slippery to be able to come to a full stop. It's so scary that I almost hit the car in front of me a few times. I am lodging my complain so the manufacturer would take a look on this issue as I found all the complaints on tcs issue on 2003 Honda Accord ex online when I was trying to look for a solution on the same issue for my car.

24 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

I went to put the key in to start my vehicle and the key totally fell apart in my hand. It was dark and I had no way to start my car. I tried putting the key portion without the enclosure into the ignition but it would not work to start the car. I then tried to reassemble the key in the enclosure and try to turn the car on so I could at least get home. . . It did catch long enough to start the car and I had to hold it to get home. Since then both of my keys have fallen completely apart and I had had to use gorilla glue to hold it together but because of the glue the auto lock does not work. . . . And the key is very wobbly in the enclosure. This is a major safety factor which I have seen written about on the complaint websites. I have also called and reported it only to find out that this is not a safety factor.

Power steering high pressure hose failure and leak.

27 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

Low-mileage Honda Accord's front end front end anti-sway bar's link connectors broke and sway bar was disconnected from the wheels creating a dangerous driving condition; especially normal driving into turns and curves! american Honda refused to discuss the safety issues and only stated my car was "out-of-warranty". This problem of the losses of both anti-sway bar connectors is difficult to detect; only a soft scraping noise warned me of the danger. I purchased this Accord new and have driven it carefully for the 20,700 miles. I am concerned about the general public's awareness of this hidden Honda Accord problem before their front end wheels snap or bend causing accidents and/or fatalities!.

29 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2010

Hello, I am writing this letter to formally lodge a complaint regarding my Honda Accord. I bought a certified Honda Accord from a Honda dealer (mcgrath city Honda, 6720 w. Grand avenue, chicago, IL 60707) in 2007. Last week, on Thursday evening (August 26, 2010), my wife was driving the car back from her work alone and while taking a left turn suddenly the steering got stuck. She couldn't move the car at all and barely escaped an accident with the on-coming traffic which was coming at a very high speed. She somehow managed to move out of the way. We towed the car to the mechanic and it was found out that the power steering pressure hose was broken. The power steering pressure hose was replaced to fix this and it took 3 days for the part to reach the mechanic after the order was placed as this is such a rare incident. I had to rent a car for the whole weekend. Now this is something that is not due to normal wear and tear and this could have happened at a higher speed and the consequence could have been worse. This shouldn't happen to a certified Honda. In fact this should not happen to any car at any time. I am making a formal complaint to the american Honda and would like you to follow up on this matter with the dealer. [xxx] date: August 31, 2010 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

30 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2008

I take my Honda to the dealership every 5,000 miles for maintenance. I was involved in an accident in August 2008 - someone hit my driver side rear. The wheel was bent and my steering wheel was turned 90 degrees. After it was repaired, I took my car to the dealership for the 5,000 mile checkup. They balanced and rotated the tires. That is when I found out the wheel was bent. Went to my mechanic and he told me the wheel was bent and that the steering rack was going out. I contacted the insurance company and they said that the steering rack problem was not caused by the accident. I need to know if Honda is going to take care of this problem since I have taken my car to the dealership everytime (maintenance) since I purchased it.

31 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2006

: the contact stated while traveling 20 mph, the steering wheel locked up, causing the vehicle to hit two parked vehicles. The service dealer was unable to duplicate the issue to locate the problem. There was a police report taken, and no injuries were sustained. Updated 12/28/06.

32 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2006

I am experiencing a steering vibration during stops in my 2003 Honda Accord lx sedan with automatic transmission. I have contacted a Honda dealer and they were not able to provide a cause for this and said noting is wrong with my Honda. I have seen that there is a NHTSA id #10000990 tbs reported about the steering vibration issue. My car has only 33k miles on it. I believe Honda should fix the problem.

33 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

Have been involved in 3 accidents where I feel that air bag should have deployed, resulting in extra damages and injury that wasnt treated.

34 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2004

2003 Honda Accord (ex) consistently pulls to the right. Vehicle drifts at medium speed (35-45 mph) and is accompanined by vibration in the steering wheel. Steering is remarkably less responsive, particularly in right turns. All-wheel alignment and balancing of tires did not remedy the problem, and in fact has made the problem more noticeable. Loss of confidence in the reliability of the vehicles steering system brings into question its safety on the road. Giving the number of complaints, NHTSA should consider initiating an investigation into this vehicle's suitability for the raod. I feel as though my vehicle is an accident waiting to happen.

35 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2003

2003 Honda Accord pulls right/left during normal driving at 65 mph. The car is difficult to keep in line, wallows back and forth. The car only has 1000 miles on the odometer. Dealer claims that they have never hear of this problem.
