The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the ignition switch was replaced by an independent mechanic in 2015. The contact stated that the vehicle recently failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle restarted the following day; however, the failure recurred increasingly. The contact purchased a new programmed key for the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the that the failure was not related to the ignition key. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Driving down the street when the malfunction indicator light went on. Within 5 seconds the engine stalled. Was able to pull to side of road and stop the vehicle. Turned off the ignition and was able to start the vehicle. This matches the scenario as outlined in recall #59558. Contacted local dealer and Honda America and was advised that my vehicle is not part of the recall.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph in heavy traffic, there was an excessive increase in engine rpms. The brake pedal was engaged and the vehicle lunged forward and failed to stop. When the gear was shifted into the park position the vehicle was able to stop. The gear selector would not shift out of the park position, and the ignition key would not turn or release from the ignition. The police was at the scene and he was able to shift into the drive range after several attempts. The ignition key suddenly turned and the vehicle was able to resume normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician was unable to duplicate the problem. The computerized system was updated. The failure occurred on a separate occasion. I was driving my Honda Accord 2005 ex to work today from burke to ft belvoir, va, and 25 minutes into the drive, the car stalled on fairfax county in the passing lane. This has happened twice, each about 3 weeks apart. When the car stalls, the ignition immobilizer switch light immediately flashes. I have to stop the moving car, and restart it, which is extremely dangerous. I called Honda, and was told that there is not a recall for this symptom. : the contact stated while parked in a driveway, the vehicle's ignition did not start. The contact tried to start the vehicle 4 times, with no success. A slight loss of vehicle power was noticed while starting up, a day prior to the incident. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The dealer replaced the transmission and the vehicle was returned to the consumer. The consumer still felt some jolting and took the vehicle to another dealer. The vehicle has been serviced twice for transmission problems. The key would not come out of the ignition. The consumer request that the dealer/manufacturer rescind the contract or provide her with a collateral exchange.
