3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2018

The check engine light kept coming up with the maintenance light and the oil level kept dropping. I took it to autozone and I got these coded p3497 and p3400. I did a research myself and found out that there was a recall on this issue as stated in Honda's bulletin 11-033. The recall covers all Accord from 2008-2010 which mine is included. I called Accord to notify them about these but after they looked up the VIN,I was told my car wasn't included. Honda's bulletin says all 2008-2010 v6 Accord so why is my car exempted? please kindly look into these issue. Thank you.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

Check engine light intermittently on and off from 02/2016 (codes p1009 camshaft position and p0341 camshaft position a circuit each time). Car stalled a number of times when running stationary and in motion in August 2016. Honda dealer on August 9 found camshaft timing chain stretched and in need of replacement. Car had 41,059 miles on odometer and power train warranty of 60,000 miles or 5 years. Repair cost $1,562. 90. Honda refused any compensation even though mileage well under 60,000 miles and the vehicle was in excellent working order including engine oil level. Repair should have been covered as an exception under warranty. Consumer reports magazine shows frequency of repair very poor for major engine problems for 2008 Honda Accord(obviously unknown at time of purchase 12/2007). Major engine problems not cited for Honda Accords from 2005 through 2015 in consumer reports magazine.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

On 12/22/2014, my 2008 Honda Accord lx (which has 98,300 miles on it) was towed into my local Honda dealer. The reason for my having it towed into my local dealer was due to the fact that my engine failed while driving on a residential street drive two miles from my home. There was absolutely no indication whatsoever that my engine would fail as the check engine light did not go on, there was no oil light illuminated, etc. Thus I was shocked when I was driving and tried to give the car some gas and the car did not accelerate ¿ thus I rolled to the side of the road and contacted a towing company. The service representative contacted me via phone and let me know that there was no compression in cylinder 2 and that I likely needed a new engine. The initial estimate would be $6,000 for a car with a blue book value of $6,500 (dealer trade in. ) I have all service records and faithfully serviced my vehicle at the Honda dealership. The service rep also explained that I was low on oil and I reviewed my receipts to determine that I changed my oil 2600 miles earlier. I am hoping that Honda will provide goodwill to repair the vehicle as a 6 year old vehicle with 98000 miles on it should not need a new engine.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 75 mph, the vsa and check engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle began to jerk forward and shake vigorously. The contact stopped on the shoulder of the road and restarted the vehicle. The failure recurred approximately six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician replaced the valves within the engine. The failure continued after the repairs. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2010

2008 Honda Accord ex-l with the check engine light on and off for the past year and a half. When I bring the car back to the dealer they say I have no oil in the engine. This goes on every other month and they have not solved the problem. My car is still fortunately under extended warranty, but is there more damage being done that once I reach my warranty the car will be worthless? the dealer and american Honda have been useless in this matter and have told me to drive my car with every warning light on until they can figure out how to fix it. At what point in a car just a lemon? if I couldn't turn back time 2 years I would have never bought this car.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated when driving at approximately 60 mph, there were unusual vibrations and the vehicle would abnormally veer toward the right. The dealer rotated the tires but the vehicle then began to veer toward the left. The dealer realigned the front suspension but to no avail. In addition, the brakes would sporadically squeal when depressed. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer replaced the rotors twice but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure persisted. The failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 24,800. On July 26, 2010, the check engine light, vsa and an exclamation warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle began idling erratically and the vehicle kept wanting to cut as the consumer approached traffic lights. Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined there was a problem with the cylinder. The spark plugs and cylinder were replaced. Updated 08/10/10.
